[Jack's pov]

"Come on Jack, it's time to get up for school." My mom whispered. I groaned in response, just like always. This was like the first day of 8th grade all over again.

I got dressed in my Blink-182 shirt, a random hoodie, some black skinny jeans, and a grey beanie. I shoved my phone in my pocket along with a lighter. There really is no reason why I always keep a lighter in my pocket, I just always do.

I walked downstairs, "Bye mom!" I yelled, completely skipping breakfast. I wasn't that hungry. I looked across the street, Alex was there. We made eye contact for about a total of 15 seconds. I ripped my gaze away from him and walked to the bus stop alone.

I slid into the front seat next to Rian, Zack and Astrid sitting in the seat next to us.

"Hey buddy, I heard about Bassam." Zack said sadly as Alex walked onto the bus. I hung my head low.

"He replaced me. I burned down our tree house last night. I fucking hate everything." I mumbled.

"Well, our song is due in two days. Do we have anything yet?" Rian changed the subject. Fuck, I totally forgot about our song.

"Fuck. Alex was supposed to be writing it while you and I were to do the drums and guitar." I rubbed my face with my hands.

"Can you ask Alex if he has the lyrics ready? I'm sort of not speaking to him right now." I looked at Rian. He gave me a sad smile and nodded his head.

"What happened with you and Alex?" Astrid looked at me concerned.

"Long story."

[Alex's pov]

I sat behind Jack and Rian. I heard them talk about how Jack's dad replaced him. I felt bad for him, really. Then I over heard them talking about the music assignment that's due in two days. I've only writte one song so far, and that was called "Guts" I', not sure if it's good enough.

Oh well, tomorrow I have a HUGE surprise for Jack. I can't wait to see the smile on his face. I miss talking to him. My phone buzzed in my pocket. I got a text.

Person: "I'm here. Where do I go now?" The text read. I smiled, fuck yeah!

Me: My house, it's right across from Jack's. My mom's already expecting you.

Mrs. Kennedy walked into the room, I sat behind Jack. He just ignored me, just like I expected.

"Okay class, in two day your writing assignment is due. You will have to present them to the whole class. We will be presenting them in the gym because some kids' assignments required instruments. I will let you all talk with your partners about the assignment." As soon as the words left her lips the phone rang.

"Mr.Gaskarth, you are to be excused." Mrs.Kennedy looked at me. I smiled and grabbed my bag and walked out of the room. I heard Jack mumbled a "Fucking great." under his breath.

I walked into my house and smiled at the person in front of me. "It's great to see you." I said. "Now, let's get down to business." I smiled.

[Jack's pov]

"Well, well, well. Look what we have here." Ronnie's new boyfriend, Chad, said. He was wearing his football jersey, along with a bunch of other idiots behind him.

"Did you all intentionally dress the same, or did your mom's pick out your outfits?" I sneered, not really thinking before I said it. Chad and his stuck up football friends punched me, kicked me and before I knew it, I was being shoved into a locker.

"Can someone let me out of here?" I shouted, hoping someone, anyone would hear me. Whose locker was I in anyways?

I heard someone unlocking the locker I was in, it opened up to reveal a surprised Alex.

"W-Why are you in my locker, Jack?" He looked confused.

"Because your prick friends shoved me in here, asshole." I retorted. I saw sadness make it's way to his eyes.

"Look, Lex, I'm sorry." I started to regret calling him all those names. It's weird, one minute we hate each other and then the next we're best friends again....Just friends...

"No it's okay. I should be sorry, Ronnie made me punch you or she said sh-she would hurt you, and I don't w-want you getting hurt Jack. You're my best friend." He whispered.

Ronnie. Fucking Ronnie. Of course. I wrapped my arms around him tightly. "Don't worry about me, Alex."

"I have a surprise for you." He whispered.

"Well, what is it?"

"I can't tell you, it wouldn't be a surprise then. But you'll find out tomorrow. I promise."

I promise.

I promise.

I FUCKING promise.

I hate those words. They hold so much false hope. "Okay, I gotta get going now, See ya later." I waved him off and ran out of the school.

I ran upstairs to my bedroom and shut the door behind me. I threw my backpack on the floor and flopped on my bed face first. I groaned loudly into my pillow.

"Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, fuck youuu." I kept saying repeatedly.

"Fuck you Alex Gaskarth, with your sandy fucking hair, your slight British accent, your hazel fucking eyes, your smile, the way you laugh. Everything." I said into my pillow.

"Fuck Alex Gaskarth." I groaned. "Fuck you for making me want you so bad, fuck you for making me love you, fuck you for calling me your best friend, and fuck all of your false hope." I finished.

"Are you okay?" Rian, Astrid, and Zack stood in my doorway. Fuck. Fuck you, Alex Gaskarth, for making me explain this to my friends.

"Uhh yeah, I-I'm fine. Why?" I stuttered, not sounding confident.

"Why do you keep saying Fuck you Alex in your pillow and naming off things about him?" A smile grew on Astrid's face. I saw Zack start to smirk and then Rian bit his lip, no doubt trying to not chuckle.

I felt the blood rush to my face, causing me to blush. "I uhmm...Fuck guys, sit down." I said. Here we go.
