{draco's pov}

I was a slow learner when I was young. I would never quite understand what they were teaching me at school. Now that I'm at Hogwarts, everything's a lot better because I understand magic. But when I was younger, I found it hard to read and write. It took me ages to learn the alphabet by heart and how to count. Every time I spoke, I would muddle up my words.
My father never helped me with any of this because he was too focused on me learning magic which made all the worse since I had spells and regular english words all muddled in my brain.

There was a girl in my class when I was seven and she helped me read. She learned faster than a lot of kids. She already knew how to count to 100 and knew the whole alphabet.

Other kids knew how to read basic words but I knew none. Yet I loved books, funny enough.
This girl saw me struggling and offered to help me.

She started by reading. She read me books all the time. I would make fun of her because she often stumbled on her words and her voice wasn't the nicest to listen to; it was croaky and high pitched.

Yes, she had a very annoying voice, but she had a kind heart. She never gave up on helping me. She would read to me every day. Yet I still got annoyed by her voice. I hate myself for doing so but her voice was not the same as other kids and it was annoying to listen to. But I still listened.

My head is now buried in a book. I'm trying to soak in all the information before our tests come up. But I can't seem to concentrate, something's always distracting me. Every time someone walked into the library, I would look up and stare at them which distracted me from reading.

What distracted me the most was when I saw a familiar pair of (E/c) eyes. My eyes widen as I see her walk across the library, a large book in her hands. She goes over to the desk and returns it and continues to walk over to other shelves.

She stops dead in her tracks as she spots me sitting at the table. "D-Draco?" She stammers and my eyes widen.

She remembers me?

"(Y/n)?" I can't help but grin as I stand up. "(Y/n), oh my merlin since when did you come to Hogwarts?!"

"Since I was 11, duh!" I grin. Her voice... it hasn't changed much. It wasn't as high pitched and it was a little smoother but still... the same.

"I-I had no idea you came to this school how come we haven't seen each other till now?!" She grins as do I.

I hesitate a little but I still open my arms wide. She instantly jumps into them and gives me a tight hug. I hold her tightly and bury my face in the crook of her neck, my nose dug into her hair.

"Honestly," she starts as we pull away. "I missed you a lot!" She giggles and I just roll my eyes.

"Yeah, sure you did." I say sarcastically.

"I honestly did, Draco! I missed your stupid little grin and stupid looking face."

"Gee thanks." I say monotone.

"Well glad to see you learned to read."

"Yeah all thanks to you."

"All thanks to me? Really? No I had the most annoying voice in the world and still do!"

"Shh!" She gets shushed by some other people in here.

She ducks her head and mutters and apology to them. "See? I'm loud and annoying."

"(Y/n) don't be daft... well... your voice was... is... annoying... but I liked it."

"Are you serious? How?"

"Because now that I hear it, it reminds me of the pretty little girl that helped me when no one else would. Your voice is like music to my ears, (Y/n)." I smile warmly.

"Yeah but the music is death metal." She laughs but it's not genuine.

"It's lovely, (Y/n). I love your voice because it helped me through a lot. In fact, you could help me now." I look towards my books. "I can't concentrate properly."

"W-what are you saying, Draco?"

"Will you... will you read to me again?"
