Alice's P.O.V

January 2, 1974

It was our last day with Linda and Joseph in Tucson before Paul, the girls and I went back to London. I was in the kitchen, drinking a cup of tea. I found myself sitting in front of a pencil and paper. I wanted to give a shot at song writing without the help of Paul. I just stared at the blank piece of paper, waiting for some words to come to my head.

"Hi Alice" Linda said as she joined me.

"Hi Linda" I said, not looking up from the paper. I heard her walk up to me.

"What are you doing?" Linda asked.

"Trying to write a song" I said. Linda sat next to me.

"Writing without Paul, I see. He'll be very heartbroken to hear that you've written something without him" Linda teased

"I want to impress him. I want him to be proud of me" I said

"Isn't he already though?" Linda asked

"He is but I want to show him my writing abilities. I don't know how he does it though. I can't think of anything" I said.

"If you'll let me, I could help you" Linda said.

"Do you know how to write a song? Have you ever written one before?" I asked

"The answer is no to both of those, but I'm sure if we put our heads together, we can think of something" Linda said

~

It only took us half an hour, but we got a verse and a chorus down.

"See? It's not that hard" Linda said

"It may only be the first verse and the chorus but it's still something" I said

"The keyboard is in the basement. Should we try it out?" Linda suggested

"Why not?" I said. We both stood up from our seats. I grabbed the song and we made our way to the basement.

Once we got to the basement, we took a seat at the keyboard.

"How do you think it should be played?" I asked.

"I'm thinking something like this" Linda said. She played a tune and when she was done, she looked to me for approval.

"I like it. Let's try it with the words" I said. Linda smiled and nodded. As she began to play, I began to sing.

I was in Paris
Waiting for a flight
When this guy came up
To me and said
Have  you got a light?
When i was born in arizona
And when i was only three
My mother took me to her saddle
And we rode the wide prairie

oh, wide prairie, wide prairie
And we rode the wide prairie
My mother took me to her saddle
And we rode the wide prairie
Well i was living in aspebueller
And when i was only ten
My father took me to his saddle
And we rode the range again
