Chapter 2: Corpse in a Garden-Part 1

Start from the beginning

Once inside, they stepped inside the house's dirty bathroom and once they were inside, they were greeted by a dead naked body sitting in the tub. The two officers looked closer at the body and Marie said, "I think we found the hand's owner."

Jones then picked up a wallet on the floor, opened it and said, "You're right. According to the ID in this wallet, his name's Ned Dillard and he was a mortgage broker. I think we should said him back for autopsy results."

Marie then began looking around and after some looking around, she found three items. The first was the victims clothes, the second was a bottle of flammable liquid with a rubbed out bar code and the last was a bloody saw. Marie then called to Jones and said, "Hey Jones, I think I found the murder weapon."

Jones smiled and told Marie good job. Marie then showed Jones the other objects she found and Jones hugged Marie tightly and said to her, "I don't know what I would do without you, girl!"

Marie then said to him, "Jones, you're squeezing me too hard and I can't breathe." And Jones let go of her and told her sorry sheepishly.

After forensics officers placed Ned Dillard's body in a body bag and rolled him away back to the station to get examined, Marie searched through the victim's clothes until she found something shiny in the shirt's pocket. She pulled it out and saw the shiny thing was a gold tooth and she showed it to Jones. He told her good job and the placed in the evidence bag so the lab can examine it.

Back at the lab, Marie was introduced to Grace the head of forensics. Grace explained that the tooth that Marie found fell out when the killer tried to open the bottle of flammable liquid. Jones then thought jokingly, either the cap was too tough or our killer had lousy teeth. They then found out that the killer was probably missing a tooth.

Suddenly, a thought came to Marie and turned Jones and said to him, "You know Jones I just realized something. When we met Dave Simmons, I noticed he was missing a tooth."

"Great job figuring that out Marie. It seems like our so called witness is now a suspect in this case," Jones said smiling at his partner.

In the interrogation room, Dave Simmons was asked how he lost his tooth and he claimed he lost when he was young. Simmons also claimed that he was only at the house to sell it from one of his clients. Jones then asked, "Who are you trying to sell it to, Mr. Simmons?"

"A man named Tony Marconi," Simmons answered and after hearing the name, Jones eyes went wide like saucers.

He the grabbed Marie's wrist and dragged her out of the interrogation room. Marie tried to keep up with Jones, but she kept on tripping. She looked at him and asked, "Where are we going?"

"To talk to Chief King about what we just learned," Jones said to her.

In King's office, Jones began explaining what Simmons told him and after he was done, King became shocked when he learned Marconi might be a part of the murder case. Curious, Marie asked, who is Marconi and King explained to her that Marconi is a gangster involved in a lot of shady businesses in the city. However, there never is enough evidence to pin him.

After King explained, he ordered the two officers to go and talk to Marconi and get some answers out of him. The two agreed to do that and they left the station to talk to Tony Marconi. Once they got to Marconi's work place and asked receptionist for her boss, Marie was greeted by an Italian looking man with slicked back black hair.
