Lillian's father died of an illness that he'd had for about a year before his death. It left him weak and paralyzed in his own bed for the last year of his life.
Lillian would often sit by his bed and read him books of poetry. If she messed up he would often become angry and frustrated, so doing this always frightened Lillian just a bit.
He wasn't alive to see Molly's birth, as she came to the world almost a month after his death.
