Master Makarov left Fairy Tail as its master 13 years ago. He left Laxus in charge and moved to a small town known as Gone. The entire town is practically a retirement community and consists of several older famous wizards. This includes several of the guild masters from years ago. Also Yajima who runs 8-Island there.
