At the very beginning of Volume III, Liddan is incredibly depressed over the disappearance of Marigold. He hardly left the house for some time, and Lugi managed to keep him (and Marigold's garden) in one piece.

However, when Liddan goes out to a bar, he meets Achilles and Aloke there, who buy him a few drinks until he's drunk as a sailor.

He then sees some random girl alone at the bar counter, and flirts her up (again, this is Liddan we're talking about) they make out behind the bar in an alley until they're stopped by Melody, Malcon, and Lugi.

Now this isn't really a fact, rather just a bit of the first chapter in the third volume.

However, the reason it was in there was the provide a display of the emptiness Liddan felt without Marigold, and was a time that defined his lust for her, as he then attempted to pursue a stranger sexually out of depression.

This was a moment when Liddan began to realize that he didn't care for Marigold just as a friend, rather a lover. It was kind of one of the moments he realized he loved Marigold, as a woman.

Yep, he realized he loved someone after making out with some drunk stranger in an alley behind a bar. So romantic. Mhmm...
