I Love You

You narrowed your eyes, your expression gentle. "Zuko..."
He exhaled, "Mmm...?"

You held his hand, "It's not like you're forcing me to stay there, is it? It's okay." Zuko shook his head, "Y/N, people won't easily be accepting of this kind of thing. I don't want bad things happening to you because of me."

"I can defend myself—I know how to fight. Who cares what other people think? It's—"

"I care, Y/N. Because I know how much it affected you when Sokka and Katara didn't trust me. They had every reason not to, of course, but still. How do you think your tribe would feel about this? The rest of your family?" Zuko asked.

You paused. It wouldn't be easy for Gran-gran, and it definitely wouldn't be easy for Pakku. They experienced such terrible things related to the Fire Nation...

"And then I have to think about how my people would feel about this, and I don't want to lose you. Not again." Zuko whispered.

You let out a shaky breath. He had a point. But, even then...

"I can change their minds." You stated. "How do you know that?" Zuko questioned, looking at you like you had two heads.

"I have the power of creation! There's a lot of positive changes I could bring that could get people to think twice. And hey! I could always pay people to leave us alone. Just create some money." You grinned.

"...You're insane." Zuko sighed.

"It'd be insane if I weren't." You shrugged.

You took both of his hands and placed them in yours, "Even with all the risks that come with us being together, I still want to be by your side."

     "I want to get to make you smile, I want to be there for you, I want to be the one to help you obtain the life you always deserved—To see you become the man I always knew you could be. I want—No—I need you, Zuko. And I'll go through whatever I have to to be with you."

Zuko stared at you in awe, and then swiftly pulled you into a warm embrace. You shut your eyes tightly and held him tighter.

"I... I want to be the one who gets to hold you close like this. I want to wipe away any tears that fall from your eyes. I want to keep you safe... I want to see that beautiful smile of yours every day of my life. I need you too, Y/N." He whispered.

You sniffled a bit, "You know what the cutest thing in the world is?"
"...You?" Zuko muttered.

Your eyes widened and you couldn't help the loud "Awww" that escaped your lips. "I'm willing to put my pride aside and say that no," You hugged him, "You're the cutest."

Zuko scoffed, "I'm not cute, Y/N."
"Your scoff just now was cute." You said. "No, it wasn't." He retorted.
"Your denial is adorable." You grinned.
He began to grumble under his breath, "No, it's not!"

"You really think you can change my mind about how cute you are?" You inquired, giggling. He paused for a moment, contemplating your words. "That's what I thought! Now shuddup n' hug me back, nerd!"

Zuko laughed softly, wrapping his arms around you. You rested your head in the crook of his neck, shutting your eyes and taking a deep breath of tranquility.

The noises of whatever shenanigans everyone was getting up to in the tea shop faded as you listened to the soft sounds of nature and Zuko's breathing.

It was nice.

"Hey, are you guys done? We're going to be leaving soon, do you want to stay he—" Aang walked in on the two of you, his voice carrying more excitement than usual.

He paused when he saw the two of you hugging, curiosity evident on his face.

"Well? Are you just going to stand there?" Zuko scoffed, crossing his arms.

"Whoops." Aang chuckled, leaving the two of you alone.

Somewhere in the tea shop, you heard Sokka yelling, "He was WHAT?!"

"Looks like he told Sokka what he saw..." You giggled. "That saboteur..." Zuko muttered, shaking his head.

"Saboteur? Did you talk to him about talking to me or something?" You asked, tilting your head.

Zuko rubbed the back of his neck and glanced to the side. "...No."

"So you did! C'mon, you've got to tell me! I want all the tea!" You heard Iroh's footsteps and quickly corrected yourself, "Figuratively!"

"...I... It's... Difficult to say out loud." Zuko whispered, his golden eyes slowly drifting up to yours.
"I'd much rather show you."

Your eyes widened, but then you grinned. "Smooth."

He held you close and gently connected your lips, one of his hands on your waist while the other caressed your cheek tenderly. You shut your eyes and wrapped your arms around him, pulling him even closer. He grunted softly into the kiss, moving the hand on your cheek to your hips.

He pulled away for a moment, seating you upon the railing of the balcony before continuing the kiss. You ran your fingers through his hair, one of your hands on his chest. He hummed, his voice soft.

The kiss was full of passion and warmth, the both of you alone, basking in the setting sun above the horizon in the yellow orange sky.

The two of you pulled away, cheeks flushed and smiles on both of your faces. Zuko held your hand, his thumb brushing over your knuckles.

"I love you, Y/N," He whispered, "I love you."

You wrapped your arms around him, tears of happiness falling from your eyes. "I love you too, Zuko. With all my heart, and soul, and body, and-"

"Shh," He chuckled, lifting your chin up so he could wipe away your tears. "I know."

You grinned and slammed your eyes shut, holding him tight.

This is only the first half! Hehehe... It'll be a lot of laughter, sobbing, Zuko being adorable for no reason, and Sokka's forehead!

But... Since School's starting soon.....
There's going to be a hiatus...

I know, I know, I'm sorry! But I have one more year of school before I reach the years that nearly every shoujo anime takes place in! (Except for Kodocha, you go gurl!)
