Normally, you don't tend to travel to another world that just so happens to be the one you just finished watching a show about. Not really a normal thing that happens to normal people. A Zuko X Reader story. As always, I wrote this for myself but you can read it, too, if you'd like. Captain Y/N was a fire bender in the Fire Nation's army, well acquainted with the royal family. She had not seen Prince Zuko since his banishment but their paths cross when the fire prince is searching for the avatar in the Earth Kingdom colonies. With the war at it's peak, can either of them find it in them to go against everything they've ever known?

The sun is their power, yet the power of the sun is used for nothing but evil... It only brings pain, suffering and confusion. (y/n) can't get behind any of it. (y/n) can't stand the Fire Nation. The exiled Prince Zuko's self proclaimed most loyal follower, (y/n), follows the prince on his seemingly pointless quest to find the Avatar, mostly out of worry for the other. Though Zuko seems to be doing fine with Iroh's guidance, (y/n) keeps him company as someone of the same age. But when their ship suddenly comes across the sight of a giant flow of light escaping from and iceberg in the middle of the icy sea, (y/n) gets a change of plans. He's loyal, to his friend and family, and also to his morals... but now he's finally at a crossroad.

"Going somewhere?" I rolled my eyes at his comment. "Well, yeah. I'm being held against my will by a bunch of fire nation bad guys. Can you really blame me?" He then grabs my arm and walks me back inside his room keeping the door open. He then sits me onto his bed and stands a few feet back. "Why am I here? Shouldn't I be locked up in a dungeon or whatever." "I want to know how you got to the south pole. I have been sailing these waters for the past 2 years and I have never come across fire nation boats in these waters." "Well that's because I was born here. Well, I think I was." His face wasn't angry anymore. It was more of a curiosity rather than anger. "I was abandoned by my parents in the south pole when I was just a baby, but the chief of the southern water tribe took me in and raised me. But ever since my fire bending arrived, I've been the one person everyone is afraid of." His face became puzzled when I mentioned the last part. "You firebenders have a bad reputation, you do know that, right?" He ignores my comment and starts walking closer to me until he is inches away from my face. My cheeks flushed due to how close our faces were as I stared into his amber eyes. Even with that huge scar on his face, he was still an attractive boy. Ugh what are you thinking Kai! Get it together! He's the enemy! He reaches around my back and cuts the rope, setting my hands free and then backs away again. I stand up looking at him with confusion. He simply just reaches out his hand. "I'm Zuko." I looked down at his hand and hesitated. After a few seconds, I took his hand and shook it. "Kai."

Currently Revising I find that a lot of the stories including the ATLA universe tend to follow the story to a T.(Not against it I have a lot of those in my library). My story follows along to it loosely and has more moments where I can insert some creative freedom. You will be there in the universe, but it will not be a carbon copy of the episodes. You're merely coasting along the sidelines of the storyline. It'll all make sense when you read it ;) -Unedited-
