You awoke, panting. "Y/N! I can't believe you went outside at night alone like that! What kind of burn is this...!?" Sokka yelled panicking.
"I'm sorry, I-" You tried to stand up, but- "Ergh!" Your burns... Began to glow.
"Stay still! You're lucky you didn't get hurt anywhere close to your head. If you did..." Sokka paused and glanced to the side. "I'm sorry for being so... Stupid." You said. Your voice was hoarse and your body felt stiff.
"No. I'm sorry I wasn't there to protect you." Sokka whispered.
"But then you might've gotten hurt-",
"Sh, don't talk to much. You need to rest." You wanted to protest against his statement, but then you realized...
"I won't have to go fishing with you all... Yay..." You were joking, but your voice made you sound even more dead inside. You allowed your heavy eyelids to come down, and tried to steady your breathing.
"Dad! Is Y/N okay!?" Katara yelled.
"She should be okay, but those burns... I have no clue about... Anything about them. I managed to help her out, but she still needs time to heal." Hakoda mumbled.
Katara turned to Sokka with an angry look on her face. "You might be older than both of us, but I'm not to young to check on my own sister!" She shouted. "Katara...", "Siblings stick together! We said that, didn't we!?"
"Katara you-", "I WANT TO KNOW FOR A FACT THAT MY SISTER IS OKAY!" Everyone was silent. "You're right. During a time like this, we should be there for her." Kya stated, holding on tightly to Katara's hand. It was clear she had been crying. "Come on. Y/N needs us."
===================°=============
It took a while for you to heal, but you turned out okay. While you weren't 100%, you were okay enough to walk around on your own and use both of your arms.
Although, you did have to wear a pair of gloves to cover up the wither burns on your arm. Things eventually went back to normal, but your mom made absolutely sure you didn't sneak out ever again. Needless to say, you probably weren't going to be bending again.
You were watching Katara practice her bending back in your new and improved secret hideout. "Heeeeeey guys!" Sokka entered your secret hideout. Again. "Seriously, Sokka? I'm in the middle of bending!" Katara huffed. "...Well, you don't HAVE to be bending right now! Look!" Sokka shuffled around, looking for something. You could tell he was still uncomfortable with the idea of anyone bending.
"You... Put swords on a pair of shoes." Katara raised her eyebrows. "No, wait... Ice Sliding? Oh! I get it!" You exclaimed, standing up. "You do!? Alright, then let's say it at the same time!"
"It's stupid."
"Dancing on ic-"
"..." Sokka stared at you blankly. "Hey, Katara, have I ever told you what an amazing sister you a-"
"She's right. It IS stupid."
"...Sisters suck."
You and Katara were now wearing a pair of Sokka's sword boots ™ and standing on a thick piece of ice. "Woah.... WOAH!" Katara was about to fall, but, thankfully, Sokka caught her.
"Okay, well... You try it, Y/N!"
You moved forward, scared. Somehow, you didn't fall. "Huh... It's kinda like skating on ice..." You hummed.
"No, skating is skating. That'd be like, ice skating or something. No one does that." Sokka corrected your foolish mistake. "Ah, right, sorry Mr. DancyPants. Ice dancing." You chuckled.
Hesitantly, you spun on the ice. "Hey... You're doing it!" Katara cheered. You tried another spin, this time on one leg. "Woah... I-I mean, of course it's great! I invented it!"
"Hey, have any of you seen your dad's- What the heck is your sister doing with swords on her feet!?" Kya exclaimed. "Hmph, I always knew our daughter could dance."
You shut your eyes and turned left to right. You could feel yourself moving along the ice... Moving along space. "Space..." You whispered. You stared at your hands, hesitantly.
You wanted to try again. You wanted to try to bend again. But your scars... Surely you would fail again, right?
You glanced at your family, cheering you on.
"Bending is a part of me. And it's a part of you, too."
"It's nothing to be ashamed of, really."
"All you have to do is practice and learn."
"No matter what... Siblings stick together."
"Forever."
You began to bend.
"Y/N!"
You spun on the ice, trying to force the strange substance to follow you. "Force... Wait...! The way I'm moving along the ice... Simply going with the flow and being moved across the space..." You smirked. You could feel it. You could feel space shifting as you allowed your substance to move around freely. It followed what your mind created, not the crazy movements you made.
"She's... Bending!"
"But what the heck is she bending!?"
Space... You could feel a strange emptiness in your substance, but at the same time, it felt so full. Something which could be considered "nothing" which also had the power to create. To form an entirely new concept, a new form of bending. The original matter. The first material to exist... Was nothing. And by being nothing...
"It's everything. I'm bending the void."
You hopped across the ice, and your void followed you. You imagined a lasso in your hands. The void bent around your fingertips, and a lasso of darkness was formed. You cautiously spun it, then molded it into a ball. You took off your gloves. You imagined everything that could go wrong. You could... Die. The ball began to heat up.
You calmed yourself and steadied your heart beat. You allowed your mind to calm down. You imagined everything that could go right. You imagined a painless feeling. "I don't want this to hurt at all."
You touched it. "Y/N, N-... Huh...?"
It was crazy. You were still a child, but your ego was equivalent to a master bender's in that moment.
You imagined the void, you imagined space, and you could mold it, so long as you had peace of mind. "Y/N! Your arms! They're... They're purple!"
You glanced you arms. Long purple cracks were glowing on your body. You stopped bending. "They disappeared completely..." You muttered. "You... Learned how to bend that thing-" You interrupted Katara,
"Space."
"Huh?"
"I was bending- Warping space. Tearing it... Creating a void." You explained.
"So... You're like... A space bender warper? A... A void warper?" Sokka questioned.
"I mean, yeah, I guess."
"...Huh. One of my sisters can bend water. One of my sisters can bend universe space stuff. And me? I can bend my back working on stupid sword shoes." Sokka threw his hands up in the air and tossed away his Ice dancing plans. "Okay, universe! Have it your way!"
