Rebuilding

Katara exhaled and shut her eyes, “I’m not asking you to never see him again or anything, I can tell you two are really close. Just… Don’t forget about the rest of us, okay? Don’t forget about me.”

You nodded, “I won’t forget anyone. Promise.”

The two of you embraced each other with smiles on both of your faces. When you pulled away from the hug, you held each other's hands. “Remember what we used to say when we were little?” Katara quizzed.

“Siblings stick together.” You beamed.
“Forever.” Katara grinned.

At that moment, a faint purple glow emanated from your hands. The two of you look down in shock, then up at each other.

“What’s… Happening?” Katara questioned. “I have no clue. Probably a void warper thing.” You shrugged.

Katara nodded nonchalantly, “Ahh, that explains it.”

As the light became more radiant, you felt something strange inside of you. Somehow, you felt more energized, happier, and stronger.

"Do you feel weird, too?" You inquired. "Yeah, I do, but not in a bad way." Katara replied.

You let go of Katara’s hands and the glow faded away. Suddenly…

Everything…
                          Went…
                                   Black.

"Lokaii!" Lso exclaimed, giving you a bear hug.

You gasped, "Lso!? You aren’t dead!?"
"Not yet! Want an exposition dump!?" She asked, excitedly.

You laughed, "Boy, do I! It’s been forever!"

"The reason I couldn't reach you in Bai Hong's 'dimension' is because that area is filled with chaotic energy. It's like a corrupted chuck of the earth." Lso explained,

"Bai Hong weakened the barrier between the normal and spirit world in her 'dimension,' allowing her, 740, and Baoshi to live as if they had never died."

"Wait, what do you mean by chaotic energy?" You questioned.

"Remember Tui and La? Remember the design of our necklace? It also represents the balance between chaos and order. Bai Hong's dimension is so broken, all that lied there is chaos."

"When your necklace started cracking, it was because her chaotic energy was starting to slip out and effect you. The balance of chaos and order was being harmed." Lso stated.

"Is that why I couldn't create it while I was trapped with her?" You asked.

"That's right. Things relating to the void shift naturally, depending on the amount of chaotic and orderly energy. However, that necklace is meant to be a sort of warning of when there's an imbalance of one or the other."

You hummed, "Wait, but that means too much order is bad as well, doesn't it?"

"It does. The world isn't meant to have only one type of energy. There will be seasons of chaos and seasons of order. Neither is better, they are only perfect when they are together."

You paused for a moment before nodding, "Is it... My job to make sure they stay balanced?"

"Why, you're not the Avatar. But your presence is a massive help." Lso chuckled.

"What about that weird purple glow? What's up with that?" You inquired.

"Oh, you were low on strength, so you naturally transferred some with your sister." Lso shrugged.

"...Huh?"

"Let's just say... Okay, you're stronger when you feel positive. Bai Hong's chaos took on a negative effect on the things around it, so you required a positive effect of order."

"Hold on, hold on, so chaos can be positive or negative?" You muttered.

"Same thing with order. Positive doesn't necessarily mean good in this case, it just means better. Excessive Positivity sounds nice, but will throw off the balance of Chaos and Order. Excessive Negativity will also throw off the balance of Chaos and Order."

"...Do you know all the bad things that could happen? Like, ever?" You mumbled, curious.

"No, but I can sense looming threats." Lso answered. 

"Does this mean that I'm not allowed to be sad or something?" You inquired.

"There are seasons for everything, Lokaii. You could be miserable, but there would come a season where you would smile. You could be overjoyed, but there would come a season where you shed tears."

"Okay, but like, what if someone was really sad 24/7? Like, absolute sorrow." You said.

"Then there would be someone really happy 24/7. Baaaalaaaaanceeee." Lso said.

You laughed at Lso's behavior, then sighed.

"Lso, I really appreciate all you've done for me, but..." You twiddled your thumbs, "While I was in Bai Hong's dimension, not having you to rely on... It was a little scary."

"Don't worry about that, Lokaii. I'll always do my best to be there-"

You shook your head, "No, that's not what I'm trying to say. I want to get better on my own. Not that I want you gone or anything, but I want to figure things out and become stronger. I want to improve."

"..." Lso didn't say a word, her mouth ever so slightly agape.

"Lokaii, you... You're all grown up now." The corners of her lips turned up, "Stronger... You are definitely on the path to strength. It's okay. I don't mind."

"Thank you." You smiled, giving your technically-birth-mother a hug.

"Your sister is probably worried about you just... Knocking out, so, uh, I'll send you off now." Lso rubbed the back of her neck and laughed awkwardly, "Just keep in mind... Final piece of exposition, I swear..."

"There may come a time where you use this energy transfer for someone other than yourself."

You were met with a sudden splash of water to the face. "Phflbshblb-"

"Y/N! You're awake? Thank goodness!" Katara beamed.

"All it took was four balls of water!" Toph laughed.

You looked over at Toph who still had her feet cooling off in the fountain, "Ew! Was that your toe water!?"

"You, uh, feeling better now?" Sokka asked, walking closet to you.

You nodded and waved your hands, "Yeah, yeah," You glanced to the side and smiled somewhat regretfully, "Sorry for kinda pressuring you into choosing sides."

Aang let out a sigh of relief, "I'm glad you guys managed to resolve that. I was getting pretty worried."

A loud explosion cut the happy moment between the five of you short.
