Burning

You ran over to her along with the others, "Toph! What happened!?"

"My feet got burned!" She exclaimed.

Katara raised an eyebrow, "But... How?"

"Well, I kinda went to see Zuko last night." Toph explained.

Katara gave you an "I told you so" glare and began healing Toph's feet.

"I thought he could be helpful to us, and if I talked to him, maybe we could work something out." Toph said.

"So he attacked you?" Sokka asked.

"Sokka, I'm sure it was an accident." You muttered.

"But did he firebend at her?" Aang questioned.

Letting out a sigh, Toph nodded.

"See! You trusted Zuko and you got burned. Literally!" Sokka grumbled.

"Sokka, if you were a firebender on the run as a fugitive to an entire nation and you hear someone approaching you in your sleep, would you or would you not attack?" You inquired, giving Sokka a moue.

"I would check to see who they are first!" Sokka stated.

"During the time I traveled with you guys, I remember you grabbing your club and boomerang when your sleep was suddenly interrupted. I'm not saying what Zuko did was good, but it's understandable." You said.

You then turned to Toph, "I hope you didn't get hurt too badly."

"I'm pretty strong, I'll be fine." Toph smiled, shrugging.

"Y/N, the reason Toph got hurt was because of Zuko." Katara said, narrowing her eyes, "I told you, sometimes the bad outweighs whatever good you think someone's done."

You rolled your eyes, "Hurr durr, the reason we have to run away from the Fire Nation is because of Aang."

Katara dipped Toph's feet into a fountain, "I'm not joking! He's dangerous!"

"...Maybe we should go after him to make sure?" Sokka mumbled, glancing at you and rubbing the back of his neck.

"Make sure of what?! He's hurt Toph now, too. Y/N's too blind by the past to realize what needs to be done." Katara crossed her arms and stared you in your eyes.

"You're saying I'm the one blinded by the past?" You placed a hand to your chest, gazing at Katara as if she had three heads.

"I'm blind." Toph raised her hand.

Ignoring you, Katara turned to Sokka and Aang, "We can't let him just roam around freely after what he's done, can we?"

"I don't want to go looking for a fight, but after what he did to Toph..." Aang shuffled away from you, "Sorry, Y/N."

"...Yeah, I think Katara has a point. It's not that I don't trust you or anything like that, I just think it'd be safer." Sokka said.

"So that's four against one." Katara smirked.

"You're smiling? You're proud of yourself right now?" You whispered, bewildered.

Katara walked past you and began talking to Sokka and Aang about how to deal with Zuko.

You stared at her blankly before getting up and walking away.

Sokka noticed you leaving and sighed, "Katara, you didn't have to be so... Y'know."

"She'll thank me later," Katara murmured, "That guy... I can't wrap my head around why she'd care about someone so dangerous and two-faced!"

"Well she definitely hates you right now." Sokka retorted, "As your big brother, you two need to make up!"

"She's the one who should apologize to me! Ever since she went to the Fire Nation, she became distant and secretive.
       Then she vanishes and starts claiming that the guy who's done nothing but evil is this pure little angel! The prince of the very nation that took away mom!" Katara yelled, as ornery as ever.

"But... Isn't that all from your perspective? I'm not trying to say what you went through and feel is wrong, but... She's gone through things, too." Aang stated, Momo perched on his shoulder.

"She has, I'm not downplaying that, but I'm stating real facts! I'm stating the truth! She's been caught up in a web of lies, and it all started when she got on that Fire Navy ship. It all started because of him!"

"...No." Sokka whispered.

"No? What do you mean, no?" Katara asked.

"Y/N never wanted to go to the Fire Nation," Sokka said, "She got on that ship because she thought you were being taken as a prisoner. She did it for you."

"...That's‐..." Katara paused and clenched her fists, "That's–"

"You've been so mad at something she did for you... Now the roles are reversed. You've wanted her to stop being keeping things from you, but..." Aang clutched his staff,

    "Katara, there's a lot of things I regret about running away from the Air Temples. But most of all, I regret not being there for everyone when they needed me. We're about to fight a war. You've got to talk to her."

"But she won't listen to me." Katara whispered.

"Then listen to her." Aang replied.
