Do You Want My Hatred?

You chuckled in disbelief, "So you're all trying to kill me?"

Neither Mei nor Ty Lee responded to your question.

You hung your head, "If you still have it... Can you give it back to me?"

Mei glanced at Ty Lee, "Is she hysterical?"

"I'm talking about those butter-flies. Can I have them back?" You muttered.

"..." Mei reached into her pocket and pulled out a faded drawing of a butter-fly.

"Why do you still have it?" You inquired.

"...Couldn't find... A place to get rid of it."
Mei placed it in front of you and stepped back as the Dai Li earthbent a hole and dropped you through a hidden room's ceiling, still restraining your fingers and legs.

They bent the roof shut.

You were alone.

The old picture you made lied in front of you, just a bit out of reach.

It was a little faded, a little worn, but it was in surprisingly good condition.

The room around you was empty. There was nothing that could possibly help you escape, aside from a large door in front of you.

It had no window, and it had no handle.
It looked like a vertical slab of iron.
And from that iron door came a voice.
It was Mei.

"...Do you remember how weird you were as a kid?" She questioned.

You didn't answer.

"...Well, you were weird. Like, really weird. The freaky kind of weird. You were so weird and freaky that I wondered if I was hallucinating your existence. In fact, you were so odd that-"
Mei sighed,

"I never talk that much. That was a whole paragraph of dialouge. Italics and everything. This is why you're freaky. You make me feel uncomfortable."

There was a moment of silence.

"...Are you dead already?"

"No." You muttered.

"Oh."

Another brief pause.

"You know... I'm always told to act a certain way. To act extroverted and fun, to be calm and strict, to listen to everyone and everything on a whim. It's almost as annoying as dresses that don't have pockets to throw knives."

"Isn't that what you're doing right now? Following everything Azula says?" You whispered.

"...Yeah."

There was some faint shuffling on the other side of the door.

"I saw how weird you were, and I felt a little better about how weird I was. You can bend space, I can't follow the societal norms everyone wants me to..."

"...That wasn't a good comparison."

A soft laugh escaped your lips.

"Don't laugh or I'll stab you."

The soft laugh re-entered your lips.

"...The only thing I we don't have in common via odd comparisons is... You're..."

Mei sighed, "You're an idiot, Y/N. You're super stupid and I hate it."

"You didn't try to place a generational curse on me when I threatened you back there. And if you did that to me, I would've cursed you and everything you stood for. Even Ty Lee would at least fight back."
