I opened my mouth to shout but a finger was placed on my lips, green eyes glinting at me through the shadows.
"What are you doing?" I hissed.
"I wanted to tell you how ravishing you look tonight."
"Oh please."
"Am I not aloud to give you a compliment?" He chuckled lowly.
I glared at him as he slid his hands onto the large column on either side of me, blocking me in.
"I wanted to apologize for earlier."
"Apology not excepted." I snapped.
"I realize I might have been a little..rushed in asking you to free me."
His hand slid down and brushed down my arm, I could feel the heat from his hand through the mesh sleeves of the dress and pushed away the memory of that hand wrapped in my hair.
"Allow me to apologize." He purred leaning in a little.
"Your mood swings are exhausting." I said trying to mold farther into the column away from him.
He gave me a devilish smirk and I gulped, hating the way it excited me to be looked at like that by him.
His finger traced the bracelet on my wrist softly and I snapped back to reality, snatching my arm away from him, hiding it behind myself.
"I know what you're doing." I hissed.
"Oh?" He asked sounding amused.
"Seduction doesn't really work that well when the person despises you."
"You didn't seem like you despised me when I kissed you." He murmured, tracing a finger along my collar bone.
I smacked his hand away from me and shoved him in the chest making him take a step back.
"Of course you would think that when your the one that forced the kiss."
"Forced?" He asked sounding momentarily surprised.
"Did I force you to kiss me back?" He said recovering quickly and the mischievous look playing in his face again.
"I did not!"
He smirked.
"Oh yes you did" He said stepping towards me.
I held my arm out, my hand splayed on his chest holding him at bay. I could feel the contours of his muscles beneath his black shirt. His heart was thrumming strongly in his chest and yanked my hand back like he'd burned me.
"Stop it, I already told you I'm done with your games."
He sighed dramatically and leaned against the pillar.
"I'm going to go have desert with your lovely parents now." I said pushing my hair over my shoulders and hoping I didn't look red faced.
"By all means, enjoy yourself." He mocked.
"You're coming to." I said grabbing his shirt sleeve and pulling him down the hallway.
I heard him chuckle and I hated the sound. Hated the way his stupid smug laugh was deep and rich.
"How nice of you to join us." Frigga said smiling when I'd found the sitting room.
"Loki wanted to show me some of the art work that you guys have." I lied
I sat in one of the empty chairs and took a plate of some kind of pie off  the table.
I could feel Loki standing behind me and twisted in around to give him a look. He rolled his eyes but sat down in the one next to me.
Frigga was watching us with a small smile on her lips.
I quickly looked away and pretended to be engrossed in my pie. I took a bite of the pie and for the life of me couldn't figure out what kind it was. Small round circles with very little taste that popped in your mouth and oats all soaked in some kind of maroon filling.
"What's in this pie?" I leaned over and whispered to Loki.
He glanced down it.
"Frog eyes" He said smirking at me.
I choked on the bite that was in my mouth and forced it to go down before I offended the king and queen.
"He's teasing you, it's yamyan. A fruit that grows on our trees." Frigga said, her eyes smiling as she looked between us.
"Mother you were just talking about hosting a ball?" Thor prompted.
"You can't be serious." Loki groaned.
"I think it's a perfect time for a ball, it will show the kingdom that all is well, and that our son has returned home." She said leaning over and patting Loki's hand.
"I agree with Loki, Frigga it's to soon for a celebration." Odin said setting his plate down.
"If we do not show the people that we are strong, will they not whisper and create rumors instead of seeing for themselves?" She asked.
I stayed quiet, not feeling like I had any place in this conversation.
"Alright, we will have a ball. I will send word of its date to the people." Odin sighed standing and holding his hand out for his wife to take.
She smiled and got up with him.
"Goodnight." She said to us kindly.
That the three left of us, sitting in silence.
"I'd better be going to." I said standing and brushing pie crust crumbs off my dress.
I half expected Loki to follow me to my room, but I was alone when I got to my door.
I tried to tell myself it wasn't disappointment that followed me into bed.
