I gazed around the extravagant room that Thor had led me to. It's base colors were gold and maroon but royal purples and blues peeked out from a few decorations.
A bed bigger than any California king was against the farthest wall, with a comforter so thick I thought I might get lost in it.
Intricate designs that had been carved out of some type of white stone surrounded a grand fireplace across from the bed, a golden bowl of water with a white cloth sat on the mantle before it.
I turned and saw french doors, taller than I was with a view of the yards and threw them open marveling at the vast garden laid below the balcony. The sky was hues of blue and pink, two suns dotted the horizon, just about to set.
"This is amazing." I breathed feeling like I'd landed in a dream.
"I'm glad it's to your satisfaction." Thor said enjoying my amazement.
I blushed realizing this was all normal for him and here I was almost overcome by all the extravagance.
Loki was also watching me prance about room but his face was blank, devoid of any particular emotion other than boredom.
"The bathing room is right through that door."
I walked back into the room and peeked through the door that Thor had pointed to.
Another smile broke out onto my face. It was white marble everywhere, a giant mirror laid on the far side of the room and the ground smoothed inwards to reveal some short steps and an in-ground bathtub the size of a hot-tub.
"I've had enough of watching her swoon over every little thing, take me to my room now." Loki said breaking his silence.
Thor scratched the back of his head awkwardly.
"Brother, you are to be taken to the cells."
"You can't be serious." He groaned.
"I've just spent the last year in a glass bowl and now your wanting to stick me back in prison?" He asked raising his voice.
"Fathers orders." Thor said apologetically.
Loki glanced at me then back to Thor, not sure who to unleash his anger into.
"Fine." He said visibly trying to calm himself.
Thor bid me farewell and ushered his brooding brother out.
When the doors closed and I was alone, I squealed and ran for the bed, flinging my arms out and landing on the pillowy mattress.
"I feel like a princess." I whispered staring up at the canopy.
A knock on my door had me scrambling up, clawing my way out of the comforter with more effort than I cared to admit.
I rolled off the bed and to my feet and sprinted to the large wooden door.
"I'm sorry to intrude.."
An middle aged woman with a graceful kind beauty stood outside my door.
Her long dark golden hair was laid in soft curls down her back and a crown of diamonds and gold rested on top of her head.
"May I come in?"
"Oh yea of course!" I said opening the door to make room for the queen.
"My name is Frigga, wife to Odin and mother to Thor and Loki."
I nodded and wondered if I should offer her some tea or something but I wasn't sure if the room came with any.
"I wanted to give you my personal thanks for helping Loki." She said giving me a small smile and folding her hands together in front of her.
"There's not many that would help my son, he tends to bring the worst out of people. Im glad he managed to find such a strong woman on earth to be by his side."
The implications of her words had me blushing and I had no idea how to break it to her that I actually despised her son.
"Loki and I aren't together your highness, I'm sorry if I gave off the wrong impression."
"My apologies, It seems I've jumped to conclusions."
She said giving me a small bow with her head but her eyes sparkled in a way that made me feel like she saw something I didn't.
"Well I won't pry, I just wanted you to know how grateful I am, regardless of the nature of your relationship. Loki has always struggled with the good and bad that he feels are apart of him."
"And what do you think?" I asked her hoping for some of that queenly wisdom.
"I think he's Loki." she said softly.
"He's proud and he's temperamental, but he's also articulate, and kind and I think he tries to hide his better qualities for fear of looking weak."
I nodded, I'd almost come to the same conclusion myself.
"What could make someone want to enslave an entire race?" I asked hoping I didn't offend her with my boldness.
She sighed and her eyes grew sad.
"A man with nothing left to loose, a very confused and desperate man."
Her green eyes watched me, they were almost like Loki's, where his were piercing hers were soft.
God this women knew how to make a hardened heart bleed for someone it shouldn't.
"I'll leave you now, but I'm so glad Loki has a friend on his side, God's know when the last time that happened. I don't recall him ever having friends."
Loki would be furious if he knew his mother was telling me his secrets.
Not just secrets but vulnerabilities.
I wished she hadn't told me, I didn't want to know this stuff about him.
She gave me one last head nod and saw herself out.
I sat on the bed no longer jubilant like I was a few minutes ago. Instead her word echoed in my head over and over.
A man with nothing left to loose, a very confused and desperate man.
