Fury and I rode in the elevator in silence but I kept a small smile on my lips and looked at him out of the corner of my eyes. He sighed and rolled his eye catching me looking.
"Don't get to ahead of yourself kid. Tone down the tough guy act this time."
I crossed my arms and watched the doors open, Fury stepped back into the corner of the elevator to remain hidden.
"Be careful, he's known as the trickster for a reason." He warned as I walked out.
I straightened my glasses and suddenly felt the need to wipe my hands repeatedly on my legs as I walked closer. It felt wrong for them to just hang at my sides as I approached a caged lion in disguise as a house cat.
I decided to let him be the first to speak.
He was sitting on a bench that connected with the wall, his hands were in his lap and he had a slightly crazed look in his eyes. I stopped a few inches from the glass and raised my chin waiting for him to say why'd he'd called me back.
"I would appreciate it, if you would wipe that smug look off your face before I do it for you." Loki snapped.
"I really would like to see you try." I said tapping the glass gently with my finger.
His hands balled into fists and I could see his rage as if it were rolling off him in waves.
"I won't be in here forever you know." He said ominously.
"If all you wanted was to be rude then I'll leave." I shrugged starting to walk away.
"Wait!" He roared.
I paused and turned halfway back around.
"Ridiculous human, you've manipulated me into relinquishing some of my pride. I don't think you know how dangerous that is." he said calming his voice, the corner of his mouth turned up in a split second smirk.
His sharp nose and jaw made his face look frighteningly handsome, and those eyes hinted of barely checked power.
I hated that I could see it, I'd rather he looked like a washed up party trick.
"I think I can guess how dangerous your pride is." I said rolling my eyes.
Loki stood up and stormed across the cell.
"You insolent little insect. You think that you can mock me?" He seethed slamming his fists into the glass.
It made me jump in surprise and he reviled in my fear. I could see that he was breathing heavily, his eyes looked distant and tired but the hint of fear I'd given him had brought some life back into them.
He must finally coming undone from solitary confinement in the fish bowl.
He opened his mouth no doubt to threaten me, but I beat him to it.
"Enough!" I yelled, my voice echoing off the walls.
"You're not going to bully me." I said trying to keep my voice even. "You want me to help you? Then remember that you're no god to me."
My chest heaved as I took in a breath.
"So watch the way you talk to me!" I said yelling the last sentence at him, pressing my pointer finger to the glass.
Loki crossed his arms and his eyes glinted with something it wasn't sure I wanted to understand.
"Is that so?"
I nervously pushed at my glasses and ran my fingers through my hair shoving it all back, not wanting it crowding my face any longer.
"Yes, that's so."
Loki seemed to consider this while I glanced at Evan standing at his post on the right side of Loki's cell.
He was watching me and when he saw me looking, he gave me an encouraging nod.
"I'll make you a deal, I won't kill you after I eventually get out if here and you bring me whatever I ask."
"No dice." I said laughing a little, earning a frown from the man across from me.
"How about, for every two answers you give me you get one request. The bigger the information the bigger the reward."
"Information?" Loki asked confused."I thought your sole purpose was to appease me."
I smiled at him, amused by his confusion.
"Let's just say I have my own reasons for wanting to understand what happened last year. I can do my job and dissect you at the same time."
He snorted in a very un-godly fashion and I had half a mind to tell him how human it made him look.
"I don't have any knowledge of value to you. Your small mind couldn't comprehend the things I know." He said smugly looking me up and down with distaste.
"I'll be the judge of that. Do we have a deal?" I asked.
He opened his mouth to speak but I interrupted.
"And not that you'll ever get out of here, but how about you not killing me, is the cherry on top of our bargain."
"I don't like cherry's." He said obviously missing the point.
"It's a figure of speech. Do we have a deal or not?"
"Yes..we have a deal."
I could visibly see the pain it caused him to agree, his jaw muscles clenched after he spoke the words and I could feel his frustration.
It might have been my imagination but I could have sworn I saw defeat flash in those hateful eyes of his.
I fiddled with my glasses, suddenly uncomfortable with his heavy gaze on me.
I had struck a deal with the devil.
