"I found my abilities at a young age, and I used them to to my advantage, among other things." He said smirking to himself a little.
"As I grew older, Thor was the golden child and I was left to follow in his shadow."
His hand lifted and flitted across the air lightly but the motion was sharp, angry.
"I played the part well, but I grew tired of the games. I saw an opportunity to rule Asgard without interference of my brother. And yet when I had the throne, I didn't receive the adoration I should have, they looked at me like a traitor."
I could hear the anger in every word he was recounting  and I knew he was reliving the tale in his head as he spoke.
"I let my anger get the better of me, and I became less careful with my decisions."
"You mean lies?" I asked.
"Don't interrupt." He snapped glancing at me before turning his gaze back to the shimmering force field.
"Thor found out what I had done and he waged a war with me, that he eventually won. Like usual." He sighed with disdain.
"I was lost in the cosmos, there I had a revelation. I could rule earth and get revenge on my brother. It was a win win really."
"Is that where you met the someone worse than you?"
"I thought I told you not to interrupt."
"Who could have found you drifting in space?" I asked ignoring his annoyed tone.
"That, is not part of the story." He growled.
"I'm pretty sure that's the whole plot."
"They are not worth mentioning."
"So it's a they, not a who? Someone did find you." I breathed relieved to finally get some answers.
"That's not what I said." He said quickly.
"How many of them? How would they even find you-"
"Do you not listen!" He yelled standing up.
"They will not be spoken about, they are more dangerous than you could ever comprehend, you need to know nothing of them." He barked down at me.
"Why won't you trust me?" I snapped standing, refusing to let him talk down to me.
"Do you trust me?" He countered
"No." I said hesitantly  "But that's because you're not trustworthy."
"What is trust if not blind faith." He spat
"Then have faith!" I said grabbing his arm as he turned to walk away.
"Nothing you can do will change my sentence, nothing you can say will change what I've done. You're wasting you time." He snarled
"Don't you want to live?" I asked him letting his arm go when he pulled away.
When he didn't respond, I realized that maybe he didn't.
"Loki?"
"Enough." He muttered making it clear the conversation was over.
"No! I'm not going to stop! My brothers life depends on yours. And even if it didn't, if you were manipulated-"
"I knew what I was doing, I wanted earth no matter the costs" He snapped cutting me off.
"So your just a lost cause then?"
He didn't respond just looked at me with those careful green eyes.
"Well I'm going to go into that court room tomorrow and I'm going to save your life whether you want me to or not." I said lifting my chin in defiance.
"You are naive."
Ignoring his words I went and laid out on the chaise, curling into myself wishing I had a blanket to ward away the chill of the prison cell across my exposed skin.
I glanced at Loki, who was sitting across from me, his back against the far wall of the cell.
I opened my mouth to speak but he cut me off.
"Go to sleep."
I closed my mouth and turned the other way, putting my back to him.
::;
I jumped from the Jeep and ran towards the rising clouds of dust. All I could hear was the blood pounding in my ears. The jagged edges of the rubble cut into my hands as I dug as fast as I could. I grabbed larger rocks and heaved them behind me, trying to find a way in, or maybe help him find a way out.
I was screaming like I'd never screamed before. It sounded like pure agony loosing itself from my soul. Blood was gushing down my hands now, my efforts trying to dislodge large pieces constantly put off track by shards of glass or live wires poking from the ground.
I was grabbed around my waist and hauled back, I bucked like an angry stallion, my blood peppering everything in a close vicinity as I struggle in their restrictions.
"Get her under control! She doesn't go near the site!" Fury yelled before dashing off into the plumes of smoke and airborne dirt.
My arms were pulled behind me and I was forced to my knees, rooted on the ground before the scene where I knew my brothers body was waiting for me..if I could just get to him in time.
I hung my head and let the tears fall until the dust started to settle.
::;
I stood in front of a glowing blue chamber, my hands wrapped in bandages.
Frost covered the outside of the glass like a beautiful shroud.
My hands came up and rested on the cold surface, the warmth of my skin melting away a foggy layer of ice.
The doctors had done their best to reconstruct the broken bones throughout his body. He was unrecognizable this way, face so puffy you couldn't see his eye sockets, his entire body black and blue.
I whimpered his name but he showed no signs of hearing me.
Not even his eyelids twitched to show me he was in there.
The doctors had said he could wake up at any time, it was up to his body now.
I sank to my knees in front of the chamber and beat my fists into the side of the of the glass, screaming for him to wake up.
::;
I felt myself being shaken awake.
"Anna!"
My eyes snapped open to find Loki standing above me, hands on my shoulders.
The cause for my nightmares, was standing right in front of me.
I leaned up and wiped my sleepy eyes, to find them wet. I wiped away the leftover tears quickly and looked away from Loki, not wanting to see him.
"You dream of your brother?" He asked.
At my confused look he told me I'd been saying a man's name in my sleep.
I look down to the white lines etched into my palms. A forever memory of that day.
"I dreamt of the day you killed him."
"I see." Was all he said before a long silence stretched out before us.
"You owe me." I said not being able to keep the hate from my voice, the dream to fresh in my mind. "You owe me a life."
"Is that so?" He asked narrowing his eyes at me.
"You owe many lives actually but I'm here to collect the one you took from me."
"So you wish to kill me?" He asked raising an eyebrow.
"No I want you to live."
He was surprised, he really thought I'd launch myself off this chaise and try to strangle him to death. As if that would actually help, or make me feel better at this point.
"Tell me, what should I do with my life after I'm released? Take up gardening, maybe I should clean my brothers shoes as he sits above me."
"You don't have to stay here." I huffed. "You can do whatever makes you happy as long as it's not enslaving or killing people. You have to have something that makes you happy."
"Power." He said looking very much like the Loki I'd met back on earth in his little fish bowl.
I shoved his shoulder in annoyance and he smirked a little.
There was a familiarity that had grown between us since we'd first met, and for better or worse we had some sort of strained friendship it seemed.
"I'm talking about true happiness." I said more gently this time.
"Then I've never known it."
The emptiness in his voice shouldn't have watered down the fresh hate in my heart, but it did.
I heard the sound of a door being opened echoed down the hallway and I turned to see Thor stomping towards me.
"Lady Anna!" He exclaimed when he saw me, looking relieved.
"We've been looking for you everywhere."
I felt something drape over my shoulders and realized Loki had put a cloak over me.
I wrapped it tightly around myself as Thor cleared the force field.
"You couldn't have given me one of these earlier?" I hissed to Loki.
"What fun would that be?" He murmured.
"What did you do Loki?" Thor snapped stalking into the cell.
"He didn't do anything, one of the guards threw me in here." I said quickly.
"Attyativ." Loki said to Thor.
Thor's face grew angry and he looked over his shoulder to the guards that had accompanied him. They nodded and left the cell in a single file as if they'd heard his order loud and clear.
"I will see to it that he is punished." He promised.
"Come. We must get you ready for the council." Thor said putting his hand on the small of my back and leading me away from the cell.
We'd almost made it to the doorway Thor had created when a hand clamped around my wrist and yanked me back.
A green orb engulfed Loki and I as he spun me to face him. I could hear Thor shouting but it was muffled behind the magic Loki was producing.
His hands grasped my hips as he pulled me into him, his thumbs pressed into my hip bones. His lips slid  themselves over mine before I had a chance to shove him away.
The cold leather of his clothes pressed into my skin. His lips parted mine and it sent my mind reeling to feel him kissing me. I felt one hand travel up from my hip to the back of my neck. His fingers slid through my hair and cradled my head as he deepened the kiss pulling me closer into him. His tongue ran along the seem of my lips and I gasped giving it entrance it to enter my mouth where it ran itself along mine. His fingers twisted in my hair painfully and a small noise of pleasure came from my throat, swallowed up by his hungry kiss.
I felt the magic being dropped and sound once again flooded into my ears. He pulled his mouth from mine and when I opened my eyes, he had devilish smile on his glistening lips.
Loki was grabbed by two guards and forced to his knees. Thor gently pulled me from the cell apologizing for his brother.
"I'm fine."
That was a lie, I wasn't fine.
My lips danced with sparks and I wiped at them trying to ease the sensation and remove the taste of him.
When I looked over my shoulder at him as Thor escorted me out, his eyes were tracking me the entire way down the hallway.
