"Im sorry."
His words caught me off guard and I froze.
"Shut up." I snarled and shoved him back down.
I got up and went to leave him there but in a flash he was toe to toe with me.
"I'm sorry." He said again.
I growled and went to shove him but he caught my wrists holding me in place as I tried to tug them free.
"I'm not good by any means but I let someone much worse control me by promises and greed. I didn't expect the humans to fight back the way they did. I didn't mean to cause such destruction."
He look ashamed, weak and completely genuine.
Three things that had no business playing on Loki's face.
"Why are you telling me this?"
I wanted to say that that small sprout of pity hadn't been watered as he spoke, as he apologized.
It wouldn't bring my brother back, but what it did..was make it harder to see him as an uncaring evil war monger.
He looked away and let me go, running his hands through his hair and pulling it away from his face.
I opened my mouth to ask him again, but a red dot appeared on his shoulder and before I could warn him a bullet wizzed past me and embedded in it.
He yelled in pain and fell to his knees as electricity pumped through his body.
We were swarmed then, Shield surrounded us.
He was kicked to the ground, still convulsing and put in chains. The butt of a gun was slammed into his head making him go limp and I looked away as they drug him to the car that was zooming over the closest hill towards us.
"Anna!" I was grabbed and pulled into a tight hug.
Evan pulled away from me and held me at arms length.
"What are you wearing?" He asked eyeing the dress.
I looked past him to see Loki being thrown in the back of an armored car.
"Wait!" I yelled running around Evan and to the shield agent that had Loki moments ago.
"Where are you taking him" I asked as they locked the doors shut.
"Same place as you, headquarters."
::;
"What in the hell! Would you care to explain these to me?"
Fury smacked photos down onto the table in front of me.
Apparently drone 13-F was the one that found us, one of 60 that had been send out all over the world.
The photo on top was taken through a window, I stood there wrapped in a blanket, my naked shoulders clearly visible. Loki stood across from me bare chested with sleep tousled hair.
"It was raining and I fell in mud, I didn't have any clothes.." I said, my face turning red.
"Mhm, and what about these two?"
Fury slid out a two photos from the bottom of the pile, the first one was of Loki with his finger under my chin his lips brushing mine. My face was shadowed by his but it was a damning picture.
The second was of us eating pancakes at the bar downstairs, a small smile on my lips.
"Those are out of context." I said looking away from them.
"Out of context! Anna did you get kidnapped or did you volunteer." Fury yelled tossing the pictures at me.
"I would never!" I yelled hurt that'd he'd say that.
"What do expect me to think, you disappear into thin air and all of a sudden one of drones comes back with pictures that look like your on your god damn honey moon."
"It's not what it look like. I swear!" I said standing up so fast the chair I was in knocked backwards.
Fury rubbed his temples
"If it weren't for eye witnesses statements claiming you beat the hell out of him before the extraction we would be having a very different conversation right now."
His tone was low and full of mistrust.
He'd never spoke to me like that before and my heart squeezed at the implications.
I looked at my feet as he watched me for any sign of disagreement.
"You are to stay away from him, you hear me. You're off the case. Scratch that, there is no case. I want him gone."
"What?" I yelled snapping my head up.
"I was getting information. I did my job!"
"You were a hostage." He said rolling his eye.
"Right before your guys rolled in he was about to talk to me." I snapped.
Fury didn't look like he believed me.
"You have to let me do this, you can't just take me off after everything that's happened. I was so close." I pleaded.
"No. Considering his little prison break, I'm sending his ass home. And you, are to let it go. You're on suspension."
I clenched my fists.
"You really think I let him get to me?"
He slammed his hand down on his desk.
"This is not up for discussion."
"He was going to talk. He told me someone else was pulling the strings and if I'd had five more minutes I could of got it out of him."
Fury watched me, his face unreadable.
"Five minutes. That's all I'm asking."
He sighed and I knew the promise of information of that scale was to much for him to pass up.
"Five minutes. Not a minute more. Than your ass is suspended until farther notice."
