I Will Never Give Up On You

Start from the beginning

"Did you just say what I think you said!? Oh my gosh, I just got called a snow savage..." You narrowed your eyes right back at him.

"Y/N, do you know how many times you called me an ash maker before we became friends?" Zuko asked, crossing his arms.

"To be fair, I was a kid, and I assumed that everyone in the Fire Nation was the same." You retorted.

"To be fair, I'm only seventeen, and didn't even actually call you a snow-"

You raised the corner of your upper lips and grimaced at Zuko.

"A very rude word to call people from the Water Tribes."

You gave him a thumbs up and laid back down.

There were two pastel, yellow lights, glowing through the window.

"See you in the morning, Y/N." Zuko hummed, shutting his eyes.

"See ya'." You mumbled, eyes focused on the glimmering lights.

You weren't sure how to feel about them.

On one hand, the soft gleam of the city was warm and almost comforting. The way it slowly danced on the ceiling before fading away to give room for another performance.

But, at the same time....

...Hua Lin.

The same way those lights put on a show could be the same thing she'd be forced to do. Forced to move around like a puppet on strings until she'd shatter and be thrown away for a new, unfortunate contender.

You felt as if the lights were watching you. Pervading into every nook and cranny of your mind. Searching for any weaknesses to manipulate. Trying to get you to join their morbid dance.

You let out a quiet gasp as a strange, yet soothing energy flowed through your veins. "L...Lso...?"

Your eyelids shut and you fell asleep.

That was it, then. You'd learn how to wield a sword, and then you'd figure out a way to save Hua Lin.

I glanced down at your neck and saw a small crack forming on our necklace.

...Oh dear.

After some work at Pao's, you and Zuko made your way across the stone bridge and into the forested area on the other side.

Tall evergreen trees towered above the two of you, their leaves blocking the rays of light from the sunset.

As you walked upon the worn and old rocky pavement, you began to feel uncomfortable.

Zuko noticed your expression and stepped closer to you, "What's wrong?"

"Oh, nothing, nothing!" You exclaimed, waving your hands. "It's just that... This area feels so disconnected from the rest of the city." You bit your lower lip,

"That's a good thing, right? But the fact I don't know the reason why it's so uninhabited makes me... Anxious."

What if those agents who took Hua Lin away were after you, too?

You furrowed your eyebrows and turned your gaze to the ground.

Now that Azula knew that you were alive, she could be planning something out. What if she had already informed those agents about your power?

"I know that look."

You looked up at Zuko, a mixture of surprise and curiosity on your face.

"Something happened, right? You can talk to me." Zuko stated.
