Daisy POV

Time seemed to stand still within the four walls of the safe room. Every passing second weighed heavy on my heart, amplifying the uncertainty that enveloped us.

Lily clung to me, seeking reassurance and safety in our shared isolation. Together, we braced ourselves for whatever awaited beyond those walls.

Isabella's constant complaints and boredom were getting on our nerves, but I chose to ignore her and focus on Lily. Her innocence and trust gave me strength when I needed it most, especially in a time like this.

The pain in my stomach had been growing more frequent, but I did my best to hide it. I silently kept track of the contractions, hoping that I could endure them without alarming Lily.

As the hours stretched on, the tension within the room grew palpable. Muffled commotion and distant sounds of chaos reached our ears, serving as a constant reminder of the danger lurking outside. Every creak and muffled footstep sent shivers down my spine. Fear clung to me, but I couldn't let it consume me. I had to stay strong for Lily.

After about five hours, the pain became unbearable. Lily and I were sitting on the bed when she looked at me with concern and whispered, "Daisy, are you okay?"

"I'm fine, Lily," I replied, trying my best to hide the pain coursing through me.

Unfortunately, Isabella couldn't help but overhear our conversation. "Oh hell no. Don't tell me you're in labor!" she exclaimed, standing up from her chair.

"Don't yell at Daisy," Lily said angrily, standing up from the bed.

"Shut up, you brat. I wasn't talking to you," Isabella snapped back.

"Don't you dare speak to Lily that way!" I yelled at Isabella, pushing Lily behind me.

"I can speak to anyone however the hell I want!" she yelled defiantly.

"Isabella, now is not the time for you to act like a spoiled brat! We are under attack, and..." I tried to reason with her, but a contraction cut me off mid-sentence.

"Daisy," Lily said in a worried tone as I slowly sat on the bed.

"Great, just great. You're in freaking labor," Isabella whined.

"Isabella, please stay quiet. I'm really not in the mood for this," I pleaded.

"I don't care. I just want you to know that I'm not going to help you whatsoever," she declared.

"I didn't ask for your help," I retorted.

"Good!" Isabella snapped, sitting back down on the chair. I leaned my head against the headrest, and Lily hugged me tightly.

I tried my best not to scream, not wanting to scare Lily, but the contractions were becoming unbearable. I didn't know how much longer I could endure the pain without assistance.

Each time a contraction hit, I bit into a pillow and let out a grunt, doing whatever I could to suppress the agony. Isabella's annoyance with my grunting couldn't go unnoticed. "Oh my God, you're so annoying!" she yelled in frustration.

"I'm sorry that me giving birth is an inconvenience for you," I muttered, my voice strained.

"Well, it is! I can't stand your grunting, and now Dominic might want to postpone the wedding. We're supposed to get married in two days, and you giving birth is the biggest inconvenience I could ever have," Isabella ranted.

Another contraction seized me, and I couldn't respond to Isabella's insensitive comment. "There you go again with your grunting," she remarked, irritated. "We should get out of here."

"Isabella, Dominic said we couldn't leave until he or Zayden came or unless the green light goes off," I reminded her.

"I know what he said, but that was before you decided to go into labor," she muttered.

"I didn't exactly choose to go into labor right now," I muttered under my breath.

"Well, the point is that you are. I am definitely not going to help you, so I would say your safest bet is to get out of here and look for someone who can help you," she suggested.

Reluctantly, I acknowledged the truth in her words. I knew Isabella would never assist me in this situation, and I didn't know how much longer I could endure the pain alone. "Fine, I'll go outside," I conceded.

"No, Daisy, don't go," Lily pleaded, crying as she hugged me tightly. "Dominic said we couldn't leave this place until he said it was okay."

"I know, sweetie, but I'm going to have a baby. I can't do this by myself. I need someone to help me," I explained, my voice laced with both determination and concern.

"But..." Lily began, her voice quivering.

"Isabella will stay here..." I started to say, but Isabella interrupted.

"Oh hell no. I'm not going to stay here with this annoying brat," she objected.

I held Lily close, whispering in her ear, "It's honestly better if she leaves. Dominic will come get you very soon, sweetheart. Please be a big, strong girl for me and wait for Dominic or Zayden to come get you. I love you so much, Lily. Please tell me you'll do this for me," tears filled my eyes as I spoke.

Lily sobbed as well, her voice choked with emotion. "I will, Daisy. I'll be strong for you," she promised. I wiped away her tears and gave her a gentle kiss.

"That's enough crying from you two. Are you coming or not?" Isabella interjected impatiently. I nodded, acknowledging her presence.

I gave Lily one last kiss as we walked up to the door and pressed the button. As the door closed, I waved goodbye to Lily, blowing her a kiss. My heart ached at the thought of leaving her, but I had no choice.

As I navigated through the hallways, gunshots and commotion echoed outside. Panic and adrenaline surged within me as I desperately sought a way to communicate with the outside world. I needed to find a phone, but the one in Dominic's office proved useless.

"I need to get to a phone," I voiced my concern.

"Not that I care what happens to you, but you won't be able to get a signal here. Even if you had a cellphone, it wouldn't work. They cut the lines when stuff like this happens," Isabella retorted, her tone dripping with apathy.

"How do you know?" I asked, skeptical of her knowledge.

"It doesn't matter. My advice to you would be to go downstairs and look for a walkie-talkie. That's the only way you'll be able to get in touch with anybody around here. Dominic told me he keeps a few hidden downstairs in case of emergencies," she revealed.

I eyed Isabella warily, unsure if I could trust her, but realizing I had no other options. Another contraction hit me, intensifying the urgency. "Fine," I replied, my voice strained. Slowly, I opened the door, peering out into the hall. It appeared quiet and empty. With Isabella following closely behind, I cautiously made my way towards the stairs.

Isabella's sudden comment caught me off guard. "See you in hell, you whore!" she exclaimed with venom.

Before I could react, she shoved me forcefully down the stairs. Pain seared through my body, and everything went black.
