Summary: Kate meets Y/n in an zombie-infected world and they clash into one another during an intense run away from the infected.

Kate's POV:

I arrive at the restaurant with my mom as we sit ourselves down at our reservation, however, everything seems really different, I hate it; as if everyone is hiding something from me. I tilt my head slightly as I notice my mom digging into her food, she glances at me before staring at me, she grabs her napkin and wipes her mouth.

"Kate, is everything okay?" Eleanor asks me, I glance around and see how odd everything looks, "Kate, whatcha thinkin', Honey?" She asks me, I turn back to her and go to speak before hearing an explosion, I flinch at this and turn around to look out the window to see an explosion just a couple of miles away. "Come on, Hon, we gotta go!" My mom calls on me, dragging me away as I look around, people begin shooting at other's and everything, I drag my mom away and take her outside but I feel myself get tackled to the side; I groan at this and hold my side in pain. 

"Shit." I hear a girl say, she pushes herself up and sees me, "Kate?"

"Y/n?" I question, she's a girl from my biology class. 

"Come on! We gotta go!" She shouts, getting up and helping me up.

"Wait, no— my mom—"

"She's fine, come on!" Y/n tells me, as we both start to run toward a college building that was just across from the restaurant. 

"What's happening?!" I call out to her, as we continue to run, she pulls me closer to her as an explosion goes off in the restaurant, I turn around and completely stop; my mouth falling open in shock, I swallow the lump in my throat as I feel so many thoughts rushing through my head and 1000 of them being 'What is happening?', 

"Zombie out-burst." I hear Y/n shout to me, I glance at her and see her running away, I start moving back as I start to see the zombies coming from some car-park nearby.

"Shit, shit, shit!" I let out, turning around and beginning to run toward the college, thank god I have my boots on— shit! I need my fucking bow and arrow! Now how am I supposed to defend— well, a gun maybe? Yeah. I guess. We arrive on the campus and I see Y/n slow down and grab my hand,

"Come on! We gotta move! Hurry up!" She shouts to me, we both continue to run and I see at the other side of the building, windows breaking and zombies practically jumping out and dying but there being some 'smart' ones coming out of the doors, "Shit, come on!" She shouts, letting me go ahead, I run toward the building, jumping up onto the grass as I notice the zombies start chasing us; limping and slightly running, I hear a gunshot, flinching at this and turning around to see Y/n shooting a few.

"We gotta save the bullets! Come on!" I shout to her, grabbing her hand, she takes hold and we continue to run toward the building, we get in and Y/n immediately starts to put things in front of the door and the windows on each side; I start to help her, stacking chairs and random shit in front of it, "That's enough, come on, we gotta go." I tell her, she starts to move back and turns to me, 

"Let's go. You ready for a sprint?" She asks me, I chuckle at this and nod my head, we both make a run for the stairs and start to search the building for something that we could use like bullets, I hear a smash and look around to see Y/n destroying a glass box for first aid, she grabs it and wraps it around her arm, hissing in pain before catching her breath, she looks at me and offers a light smile. "You alright?" She asks me,
