The pain I was feeling was like nothing I've ever experienced before. It was even worse than when I broke my ankle. I felt like I couldn't move because of the stitches.
"Steve," Bucky said.
"Yeah," I said.
"Are you ok?"
"Are you sure."
"Yes Bucky I'm sure."
"You're not lying to me are you."
"Steve," Bucky said exasperated.
"Ok ok fine, it hurts."
"You are so stubborn, you know that right."
"Yeah I know."
"You know I almost left today."
"I thought you didn't love me."
"Why?" I said trying to sit up straighter but it hurt to bad.
"I don't know just the stress of you always being in the hospital."
"I do tend to go to the hospital a lot."
"I'm going to have to find a way to stop you from doing that."
"You can't keep me out of the hospital," I said with a laugh.
"Why not, I've kept you out of a lot of other things so far."
I guess you have, but its in my genes to be in the hospital."
"And it's in my genes to keep you out of things."
"Oh so that's how your going to play things."
"Yes, yes it is."
A surge of pain went through my body. I closed my eyes and waited for it to go away.
"Steve, Steve are you ok?" Bucky asked concernedZ
"Yeah, it just hurts."
"I'll be back," He said walking out.
"No," I said grabbing his arm and pulled him back, "Please don't leave." I said desperately.
"You need pain medication."
"I can handle it."
"I don't care if you can handle it or not," He said, "I'll be back before you know it."
He was true to his word. He came back with the doctor less than a minute later.
"Your friend here probably gives me more information about you than my nurses do," The doctor said rolling his eyes.
"That wouldn't surprise me," I said, "he is kind of an overprotective boyfriend."
"So he says that you're experiencing some pain."
"He is correct," I said slightly laughing.
"I'm going to lift up you shirt and take a look."
He poked and prodded me a lot but I didn't mind, he was just doing his job.
"It just looks like normal post surgery pain to me. I'll just order you some meds so you don't feel uncomfortable," the doctor said.
"Is there anything else you need while I'm here."
"I need you to check out Bucky's wrist for me."
"And why am I doing that?" He asked a little weirded out.
"It's been bothering him. I can tell."
"Well I'll send down someone from orthopedics and they can take a look at it for you," The doctor said.
"That would he great," I said before the doctor shut the door.
"What was that for?" Bucky asked.
"What it's been bothering you, hasn't it?" I asked.
"Yes it has but that's not the point."
"It kind of is Bucky," I said, "If you get to tell on me to my doctor than I get to tell on you to yours."
"But that was different, you needed pain medication," he said.
"And you might need something worse than pain medication."
"You know what, lets just drop the conversation," he said.
"Oh so you agree with me now."
"No, I'm just tired of arguing with you."
"Ok," I said with a chuckle.
"So what do you want to do now?" He asked.
"How about you come up here and lay down with me."
"Good enough for me," he said smiling.
Bucky laid next to me in the hospital bed. It was small but we managed. We stared at the ceiling forever and just silently talked to each other. The orthopedic doctor came in almost an hour later. Bucky sat up and swung his feet over the side of the bed.
"I'm guessing the one with the cast is Bucky," The doctor said and than he stopped, "Wow, you both have casts."
"I'm Bucky," Bucky said raising his broken wrist in the air.
"Ok, so I see that you have broken your wrist."
"Yeah and it's been bothering me all day."
"Ok well I'll just get the cast off and see what's going on underneath."
The cast took a while to get off but the doctor finally did it.
"Well there is a lot of bruising," He said looking at Bucky's black and blue wrist.
"How did this happen?" the doctor asked.
"I punched a guy in the face."
"You're to honest for your own good," the doctor said laughing, "I'm going to order another x-Ray scan for you."
"Do I have to leave him?" Bucky asked.
"Well he can't leave," The doctor said.
"Don't you guys have a portable x-Ray or something," Bucky said
"Bucky you can go get an x-ray, I'll be fine," I said reassuringly.
"Are you sure?"
"Alright than I guess I'll go with you," Bucky said to the doctor.
"It'll take about a half an hour before I can get you in. For now just try not to use it as much," The doctor said.
"Ok, thanks,"Bucky said and then he turned back to me, "Why did you make me go through that?" He asked me.
"It was for your own good," I said.
"Remind me never to get on your nerves again."
