Ayat al-Akhras)

29 March 2002

" Please Shady stay a bit longer"
Said Ayat, my fiancée.

" This is the third time you stop me from leaving, I told you I have work in the morning, I promise you I will come to visit you later"
I said trying to convince her to let me go.

After about an hour of argument, she finally let me go, but I didn't leave before making sure she wasn't upset with me, and I promised to take a day off soon and spend the whole day with her.

little did I know that there will be no tomorrow for us, if I knew that she was actually saying goodbye to me!
Then I wouldn't have left her, I would have stayed with her and never let her go.
I loved her more than myself, I knew she was strong, brave, determined and smart, she loved her country just as much as she loved life, she dreamed about a safe future for our future kids, but it seems like that was too much to ask!

Each time I dream about the future she interrupts me with her martyrdom dream, then she would steal me away from the marriage life dreams to the martyr missions one, she drew pictures of the blood we would bleed in order to reach our dream in Jannah so we vowed to do it together.

Ayat pov:

I walked into the mall with my head high, today will be the day I represent myself to my country as a free woman, I'm sorry mother, I'm sorry father, that I'll have to leave you too soon, please pray for my soul and be pleased with me.
My dear Shady, I'm sorry, I know we vowed to do this together but, the voices of freedom and martyrdom had been calling me, I could hear them clearly now.
In Heaven, I will wait for you. and I want you to know that our Weeding isn't canceled, it got delayed till the day we meet again in Heaven.

On the 29th of March 2002
The young bride and the 17 years old senior high school student went to a mall in the occupied streets of Jerusalem and exploded herself along with more than 20 other Israeli settlers.
2 of them died and 20 got injured
while 6 of them were in a dangerous condition.

Ayat was born in 1985 in Al_dahesha camp near Bethlehem. One day she left her house and told her mother that she was going to attend an educational course that was organized by the headmaster to catch up with what they had missed because of when the Israeli forces broke in their city a while ago.

At the end of the class Ayat left to go home with her friends, but this time she took a different path, her friends asked her where she was going, but she only hugged them without saying anything and went on with her way.

Ayat had decided to avenge the mothers whose children had been ran over by the Israeli tanks, she told her friends that she had a business to do.

She wrote a paper and asked one of her friends to open it after only one day, that paper was like her will.

Instead of wearing her Wedding dress which was decided to take place in September of the same year, Ayat preferred to wear a dress of a different kind and to celebrate in a different way for the sake of Palestine

The Israeli occupation handed her body to her family after 12 years of her martyrdom, they made a huge (funeral celebration) on her honor and she was buried in February 2014.

May she rest in peace, the beautiful martyr who taught us a lesson on sacrificing everything for the sake of what we believe in, may Allah have mercy on her soul.
