Secrets Learned & Secrets Kept

-⁛-

Percy POV

As the week went by, I was slowly starting to dread Thursday. The first day of my new chemo.

My friends were nice - not that they've never been, they seem to care a lot more now, asking me how I was feeling and how I was.

"Hey, bro! Me, as in me, Piper, Thalia, Annabeth, and the others are going to the movies today! Do you wanna come too?" Jason asked me in third period.

I wanted to so badly. "Sorry, guys. But I already have plans." I said coolly.

"Aww. Has Percy got himself another girlfriend?" Leo asked.

That excuse would work. "Maybe..." I said slyly.

They rolled their eyes. "Who is it?"

Just then, Katie walked over, "Hey Percy, can you-,"

"Is it her?" Grover guessed.

"Me what?" Katie asked, confused.

I gave her a just-go-along-with-it look. "Yup! This is my new girlfriend!"

Katie nodded. "That's me!" she smiled sweetly.

"We better get going. We're going to...um..." I started.

"Red Robin!" Katie saved.

"Yes! We're going to eat a lot of... dumplings!" I said.

Jason looked confused. "Red Robin sells dumplings?"

Oh snap.

"What he meant was, we're going to eat a lot of fries... right babe?" Katie saved again.

I quickly recovered. "Yes! Of course! We should get going. Bye!"

I pulled Katie into my car and I drove away.

"What was that about?" Katie asked.

"I had an appointment and they asked if I could go with them somewhere, but I said no," I explained.

She raised an eyebrow. "Really. Where are you going to?"

"Um. The hospital," I said.

"Why?"

"Just for a check-up," I lied. "Why?"

"Oh, well, I have to go to the hospital too, I'm checking on my mom. I'm going to have a little sister!" she squealed.

"Oh! Congrats!" I said.

"Yeah, since you're going there too, can you take me?" she asked.

I hesitated. "Yeah, of course."

She smiled.

Katie wasn't one of those girls who would fan-girl over boys. No, she was a lovely girl. She was also quite pretty. She had brown hair and jade green eyes with brown rings around the irises along with tan-dark skin. She was very nice too.

When we got to the hospital, Katie thanked me and got out of the car.

"I'm going this way," she said.

"I'm going that way," I said.

She cocked her head. "Don't get lost!"

I scoffed. "Who do you think I am?"
