Chapter 9: Mission To Roxxcart

Start from the beginning

"He does...and we end up in huge trouble." I informed him before changing the subject. "Come on, we should head back before Mobius gets out of Renslayer's office."

With that, I stood up from my chair before making my way out of the Time Theater, returning to the couch outside of Renslayer's office. As I sat down on the couch, I noticed Loki wasn't anywhere to be seen. However, after a few minutes, Loki walked down the hallway towards me.

"What took you so long?" I asked.

"You left the file inside the holoprojector. I had to take it out, so no one would notice." Loki explained.

I was baffled. He was looking out for me? I mentally shook my head. No, don't even think about it, Storm. At that moment, Mobius walked out of Renslayer's office. A grin was on his face. "We're on!"

Loki raised a fist, looking excited. I didn't blame him though. We were making progress.

"We are doing some good work today." Mobius said.

"I thought so too." Loki agreed.

We then made our way towards the storage lockers. As Mobius opened a storage locker, he glanced over at us. "I'm tellin' you. You actually help us catch these Variants, and who knows, my friends."

"What? Good enough for a face to face with the Time-Keepers?" Loki asked.

"I didn't say that. One step at a time." Mobius advised.

"Oh come on, Mobius." I urged.

"No, I believe Mobius's right. One step at a time, darling." Loki agreed.

I was baffled that he took Mobius side. But instead I remained silent, glaring at Loki. Mobius then took out my belt, containing my lightsaber and my other weapons. My eyes lit up at once. I quickly grabbed the belt, placing it around my waist. Mobius then handed Loki his daggers.

"Just in case." Mobius said.

However, Hunter B-15 snatched the daggers from Loki's grasp. "Absolutely not."

Loki's face fell. Fortunately as Hunter B-15 passed by me, she didn't notice my weapons. Once she walked past us, I discreetly handed him my Echani vibro-sword as I whispered to him. "You can use this."

That Echani vibro-sword meant everything to me. It was passed down to me by my mom, who received this weapon from her mother, Grandma Sincra. It was an Echani tradition, and that was all I had left of my Grandma Sincra. Loki looked taken back. He gave me a smile. "Thank you."

"But I expect that back." I informed him.

"Of course. I'll keep it safe for you." Loki answered.

I gave him a nod, appreciating his words. Hunter B-15 then announced. "Gather around for a briefing."

With that, we followed Hunter B-15, Mobius, and a team of minutemen into the briefing room. As soon as we were all inside the room, Hunter B-15 began the briefing. "Roxxcart is a vast superstore common to the era. It consists of a series of sprawling sections, including a large warehouse."

"The warehouse is being used by civilians as a shelter tryin' to ride out the storm. Remember, this is a class ten apocalypse." She continued. "While the Variants shouldn't know we're coming, they could be hiding anywhere and should be considered hostile. So stay alert. Every time there is an attack, the Variants steal a reset charge. They're planning something. We just don't know what. So keep an eye out for the missing charges, and if you see a Loki or a Storm, prune it."

There was a smile on her face. I grimaced at her words. I didn't like the way she said that nor did I like the look on her face. Loki then spoke up. "The bad Loki and Storm, preferably."
