Distance - Christina Perri (Song Preference Requested By Adxvaaa)

Ashton:

The sun is filling up the room

And I can hear you dreaming

Do you feel the way I do right now?

Ashton, your best friend, had spent the night at your place. Upon realising 3:28AM wasn't the best time to drive home in the pouring rain, you told him he could sleep in your bed. "But where will you sleep?" He asked quickly and you shrugged, "the couch?" "No, I'll sleep on the couch," he decided quickly. "We both know you find my living room scary in the dark," you said with a smirk on your face and he blushed. "I'll take the bed," he agreed finally and you nodded, picking up a blanket for yourself. "Only if you do, too," he mumbled, and you froze in your spot. So after establishing a strict code of 'back to back, right?' and 'equal blanket share or else', you both crawled into your bed and turned the lamp off. Little did you know that Ashton may possibly be the most restless sleeper ever. By the time the morning came, the blankets were a piled, terrible mess. Not only this, but he'd also managed to intertwine every limb of his with yours. Whether this was intentional or not, the feeling of his breath on the top of your head and the way his muscles tensed around you as a result of his dreaming sent a constant eruption of butterflies in your stomach. You pulled away slightly and he responded by wrapping his arms around you tighter. For the first time ever you fully noticed his eyelashes, and how his lips parted slightly every time he breathed out. You smiled and lifted your hand carefully, moving some of his messy hair from his forehead. The touch had him leaning into your fingertips, as well as causing an incomprehensible mumble to spill off his lips. You smiled, and as the sun started filling the room through the curtains, you couldn't help but wonder if he'd ever felt for you how you feel about him right now.

Calum:

And I will make sure to keep my distance

Say, "I love you," when you're not listening

It was 12AM. You and your best friend Calum had been on the phone for about three hours now, simply talking about music and life in general. This friendship in particular was incredibly difficult. Why? Because you were pretty sure you were in love with him. Unfortunately, you were also pretty sure he didn't feel the same way back. So in order to keep you friendship in tact, you kept your distance. A thing you did, almost subconsciously now, was say 'I love you' when you knew he couldn't hear. Some part of you perhaps was hoping he did hear, and would say it back. But he never heard, and you were sure he'd never say it back. Your eyes were closing as he spoke about a new album he was obsessed with, so to prevent yourself from falling asleep at his voice you spoke up. "I'm getting really tired, talk to you later?" You mumbled, your eyelids already drooping. "Aw," you heard the disappointment in his voice. "Okay, I'll call you, goodnight," he said goodbye. "You too," you mumbled, hitting the 'end' button. "Love you," you said, barely audible. You went to place your phone on the bedside table before you heard a sound from your phone. Your eyes shot open, and realised he was still on the line. "Y/N?" You were frozen, your thumb was dancing over the 'end' button deciding whether or not to press it. "Calum," you said happily, pretending that nothing happened. "Did you say something?" He asked, you could hear the amusement in his voice. "Uhm, I may have, I don't know, I'm half asleep," you rambled, now fully awake. "Okay, well I'll talk to you tomorrow," he said and you breathed out a sigh of relief. "Love you too," he added quickly before the line went dead. You remained frozen and wide eyed staring at your phone for about a minute before you placed it on the bedside table. The smile on your face didn't falter until you fell deep asleep.

Luke:

And I keep waiting

For you to take me

You keep waiting

To save what we have

The school dance was approaching, and there was no one you wanted to go with other than your friend Luke. You've been leaving not so subtle hints to him, but Luke being completely oblivious, has missed them all. "So," you were having lunch together and the topic on everyone's lips was this damn dance. Luke looked up from his food "hm?" He replied, a mouth full of chips. "I'm not going to this dance if no one asks me," you said, causing his eyes to widen. He quickly swallowed his food. "Y-you're not going?" He asked in shock. "Yeah, well no one's asked me," you gestured to all the people around the two of you. You noticed his cheeks go red, "I..." He began, causing you to lean forward and hope for the best. "I thought we were already going together," he mumbled, looking down at his fiddling fingers. Your eyebrows furrowed, "really? You thought it was like a silent agreement?" You asked, a little confused. "I was hoping," he continued. "I mean, I thought it'd be awkward if I asked you, since we're friends," he added, causing you to slump back in your seat. "We're going as friends?" You asked him and he was lost for words. "Y-yes? I mean, if maybe.. Maybe not?" You smiled. "Will you be my date to the dance?" You finally asked him and he breathed out a sigh of relief. "I can't believe you had to be the one to do that," he shook his head. "I was just.. afraid of.. you laughing at me or something, I didn't want it to be awkward," he rambled on and you took his hand. "You're already awkward, it wouldn't have changed a thing."

Michael:

Please don't stand so close to me

I'm having trouble breathing

I'm afraid of what you'll see right now

Trying to hide your feelings from your best friend turned out to be far more difficult than you thought. "Michael?" You called, and his head popped from around the kitchen with toast in his mouth. "Mm?" He replied. "What's taking you so long?" You asked and he huffed, taking the toast out of his mouth. "I burnt the first ones," he admitted sadly, turning back into the kitchen and returning with a plate of toast for you both. If only the relationship was this easy. No, it seemed Michael made it his goal everyday to be as touchy with you as possible. He placed the plate on the coffee table and took a seat beside you. Michael's definition of 'taking a seat beside you' was squishing up to you as close as possible, wrapping an arm around your shoulder and occasionally forcing you to rest on his chest. So it was your mission everyday to pretend this didn't affect you at all, which was almost impossible. It was terrifying thinking he might be aware of your blushing or sneaky glances in his direction. Today though, he went way too far. As you both sat together to watch a movie, he unfortunately began tracing random patterns over your bare shoulder. He couldn't help but notice your reactions to it, "you okay?" He asked quietly. He turned to face you, and no matter how hard you tried to keep from looking up at him, you did. Your eyes locked and you couldn't stop yours from drifting to his lips. That's when you kissed him, and he kissed right back. When you pulled away he stared at you in disbelief, "I'm so glad you did that, I've been dying to kiss you for ages."
