Braxton's POV

I looked down and saw Phoebe nodding off.

"Wanna go to bed?" I asked her.

     She nodded.

"We're gonna turn in for the night." I said.

We talked with my sister and parents in the living room for most of the day. They didn't know Phoebe's whole story. Did Phoebe want them to know? How would they react? I love my family but I can't leave Phoebe.
She's everything to me. I put her in the bed and kissed her forhead. She had fallen asleep on the walk up here. The lights went out and I heard my sister shout from her room. The walls weren't paper thin where you could hear everything so in order for someone to hear you through the walls you had to be loud.
I found my way to the door with the help of my phone. I opened the door and put something in front of it so that it'd stay open. The whole house was pitch black.

"Stupid storm." Claudia practically shouted.

"Shhh. Phoebe's asleep." I said.

"Sorry." she whispered.

We went downstairs and saw that our parents were already in the living room. Well how did we know it was our parents? They had on an old antique lamp that ran off of batteries.

"Did you guys go to bed?" I asked.

"No." our dad said.

"Where's Phoebe?" mom asked.

"She's asleep." I said.

I quickly texted her letting her know I was downstairs and not to leave the room. I didn't want her to get hurt. We sat down and joined our parents. It was getting hot.

"Phoebe doesn't talk much does she?" mom asked.

"Not really." I said.

It wasn't that. She just chose her words carefully when she talked. She didn't want to slip up and say something she might regret.

"She seems like an interesting young woman." dad said.

He had no idea how right he was. My phone vibrated in my pocket. I pulled it out and saw it was Phoebe.

Braxton I need the bathroom. Now! - Phoebe

I got up and rushed upstairs. I shined my light towards the bed and saw that Phoebe was sitting up holding a hand to her mouth and the other on her stomach. I helped her out the bed to the bathroom where she emptied her stomach.

"I would've brought you a bucket if I knew that's why you wanted the bathroom mi corazón." I said holding her hair back.

After she was done she rinsed her mouth out.

"Why are the lights out?" she asked.

"Power's out." I said.

We carefully made  way back to where my parents were.

"Phoebe you're up." my mom said.

She just nodded. My parents had pulled out a battery operated fan too. They were always prepared for something. We sat on the couch next to my sister and I pulled Phoebe onto my lap.

"So tell us about your family." my mom said.

I felt Phoebe tense. This was a topic she didn't like to talk about. I think my mom saw her tense.

"Are you not on good terms with your parents?" she asked.

I looked at Phoebe who was looking up at me. I guess she was thinking the same thing as me because she nodded. I took a deep breath and told them the whole story. Phoebe clung onto me at certain parts in the story. After I was done I looked at them.

"I can't believe you had to go through something like that Phoebe." Claudia said.

"Looks like we've raised you right son." dad said.

"I agree with your father. Hearing that you two are student and teacher makes it kind of wrong but after hearing what you've been through and the fact that you've stuck by her son makes it anything but wrong for you two to be together." mom said.

Sounds like to me that they're accepting Phoebe.

"Phoebe you can come by anytime you want." mom said.

     I was right.

"Thanks Mrs. Martino." Phoebe said.

"Call me Rosemary. Please?" mom said.

"Okay."
