What is your name?

My name is Fakira.

How old are you?

I am currently sixteen years old.

What inspired you to write your first book?

What inspired me to write my first book was when I was starting out writing a diary. I was flipping through the pages and just couldn't believe how uneventful my life was up until that date. I was thinking of spicing it up a little bit, but I didn't want to lie because I knew it wouldn't make me feel any better. Besides, the only critic was myself, I reasoned. Finally, I realized that I could create a completely different story line with characters of my choosing and a theme that related to ME. There started my obsession with writing and everything to do with literature, at the tender age of nine.

Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?

Right now, my favorite author is Christopher Paolini, simply because I really love his Inheritance series, which I'm currently on the third book of. Also, the ability to transport me to a completely different world and still make me feel at home is one quality I always search for in a book.

What is your favourite theme/genre to write about?

Actually, my two favorite genres to write about are romance and fantasy, as you might be able to tell by my Wattpad stories. I especially like to write themes about romance because I find different types of love so fascinating and try to create different types of it with different stories. Fantasy has always been my escape in writing and I find it a great way to create a perfect world without all of the obstacles.

Do you see writing as a career?

I've always been in love with writing, and I do see it as something I expect to continue doing throughout my life, but I want to go to medical school when I graduate. I feel as if I can help more people in more ways than one if I do become the person I have envisioned for myself.

If you could work with any author who would it be?

The author I wish I could work with right now would probably be, as I said, Christopher Paolini, or perhaps Stephen King.

Do you use real-life facts based on true stories?

My stories are more inspired by real events, but I don’t base them on facts about people’s lives. I feel like I would just be writing down what really happens instead of what I would want to happen in my stories, and that just discourages me.

Did you ever think you'd be, where you are right now?

I used to be a little girl who would spend all my time with my nose shoved in a book or my hand cramping because of my crazy quick writing. I never thought I would have so many fans and people who appreciate my writing! It’s really an amazing feeling <3

What advice would you give to people who "run out of creativity" when writing/Do you ever suffer from writer’s block? If so, what do you do about it?

It’s funny you would ask because I frequently suffer this dilemma, mainly because I am concerned that my readers would get bored, so I take a VEEERRRY long time to produce an idea that would seem fit for my story. I have soo many drafts of chapters I didn’t put up because they were just disappointing to me. My advice would be to simply to keep trying until you strike some gold. If not, maybe taking a small break or starting on another idea will inspire you to continue with a new idea.

Do you have any advice for other writers?

My advice to new writers is to really try and make your writing your own. I know that sounds like really obvious and dumb advice, but you really have to know that YOU are in control of your story, whether based on real events or not. No one can control your imagination, your thoughts, your feelings, and writing is a way to express what YOU want without worry of other opinions.

Anything fun about yourself you want your fans to know?

Some facts about myself: I’m a grammar FREAK, I love to reread my own stories and laugh at how stupid they sound, I am obsessed with Korean dramas and songs, I love lions, and I cry when I read really sweet comments on my stories…..Lol weird I know.

How would you describe yourself?

I'm a typical teenager: sarcastic, self-conscious, inspired, defiant, and critical of mostly everything. However, I also love my family, aspire to become a doctor one day, and pray every day and night that I'm a good person. I hope to one day be able to publish a work I'm really proud of and share it with the world.
