Chapter Three: Parallel Worlds

Fingers intertwined he guided me towards the stage. The acoustic minus 1 version of 'Baliw' started to fill the air. We are going to sing it live. I could sense that my knees would buckle anytime. I am literally shaking. My palms started to sweat like crazy as well. I tried to release my hand from Edward's grasp because of shame but the moment I pulled it, he strengthen his grip instead.

"It's ok Maymay relax. We got this." He lowered his head a bit and whispered softly in my ear.

I almost jump away because of surprise. His voice is so sensual and enticing. It makes my freaking heart somersaulting once again. My 19 year old self didn't absolutely react this way but now, my 33 year old self is a whole different story.

Damn it Mary Dale bagets pa yan! 16 years old, 16 years old, 16 years old!!!!! Get a grip! I screamed at myself.

I shook my head lightly from left to right, trying so hard to remove the web that's been harboring in my thoughts at the moment.

And then he began singing the first line.

Nang makita kita napangiti mo na ako oh....
At nang lumapit ka sinabi mo na gusto mo din ako...

I took a deep breath and smoothly delivered my part while praying so hard that I wouldn't mess up.

At ngayon gusto kong sabihin sa'yo ang nararamdaman kong ito....
Na ikaw ang nilalaman ng aking puso....

I don't know, Edward's face is now in a fair distance away from mine yet it seems like my heart doesn't have any plan to decrease its activity. Maybe because he is staring directly into my eyes, as if piercing his way into the deepest of my soul. A beautiful smile is evident on his face as he sing our song.

Gusto na gusto kita....

I became conscious all of a sudden, I can't stand our staring battle any longer and so I attempted to divert my gaze into the audience. But as soon as I did, he immediately hold my chin and turn my face gently back into his direction. He made me look at his eyes once again. I was so shocked. No, that was even an understatement. I couldn't move at all. I even missed to sing one line of the song. Thankfully it was on a duet part. He managed to cover for me though.

Just as expected the crowd went wild because of that little stunt that Edward did. Up until now, it still amazes me how greatly we are received by the people when we got to the outside world, moreover to be considered as a love team. They obviously saw something between us the we didn't see within ourselves while being inside Kuya's house. Immense chemistry as what they've called it.

I quickly regathered my thoughts as I recover. I needed to focus. Apart from the fact that I am 19 all over again, something is not right with all that is happening. I am starting to realize some mishaps regarding my current situation.

I would think more of it later. I needed to finish this performance first. Focus focus focus Maymay!

I don't really get why but all of a sudden Edward put his arms around my waist and pulled me gently towards his body. Now, there's only a foot space in between us. My resolution disappeared just like a bubble which suddenly popped in midair. Fortunately, I stuttered only just a bit but didn't forget my lines this time.
