Chapter 9:
I hear the familiar voice call my name as I lose my consciousness. "Maddie?" As soon as I hear the gruff voice call from one of the levels above where we are, that gives me enough power to fight to stay awake.
I can barely make out who the tall, broad shouldered figure is with my vision becoming seemingly blurry and black, but when I hear the voice I know exactly who it is.
It's my father.
I try to scream, and even though it comes out muffled, it must be enough for my father to hear. He begins to run towards where I am, and when Arm-tattoo boy notices, he orders for Angela to push my freshly bruised body over the cliff of the chasm and into the rocky waters below.
The nausea overtakes my body as I tumble toward the edge of the rocky chasm, trying to scream, and thrash around, searching for any signs of help besides my my father, who has now disappeared into the darkness and dampness that hangs over the chasm.
As soon as my body reaches the edge of the chasm, my body goes limp. I can't let anyone die for me; I'm definitely not worth it. I'm ready to accept my fate- if this is how I am meant to die, let it happen.
Then I hear my dad begin to yell. "Peter." He seethes. The arm tattoo guy, who I now know to be Peter, snickers.
"Well, well, well. If it isn't the legendary Four. You're here to save your daughter, I guess." Peter jests.
"Yes." My father says. "Of course." He begins to walk toward me, only to be stopped by Peter and One of his lackeys.
"If you come any closer to her, she dies." Peter, who grips my father's right arm whispers. "My daughter, Angela, is ready to push her off at any time." He smirks.
Angela waves.
I thrash around on the ground, only to be kicked twice in the ribs. I look my at father with pleading eyes as I am kicked. A tear slips from his eye, and he hangs his head.
Right then, I hear a gunshot, and Angela slumps down to lay beside me, clutching her shoulder. A frustrated scream escapes her mouth a she collapses. "Step away from Four." I look up and see my mother. Her long, blonde ponytail whips behind her as she walks toward Peter, gun in hand.
As Peter's lackeys gape at her, she turns and shoots the foot of one of them, and pulls a knife from her waistband, and throws it at the other's hand, stabbing them right in the palm. They run away as fast as possible, screaming in pain. My mother advances toward Peter, placing the barrel of the gun on the side of Peter's head.
He gulps loudly, and beads of sweat form on his forehead. "Four, get Maddie. I'll handle Peter," my mom says, nodding her head from my father to me.
With that, my father comes over and picks me up, cutting the zip ties my off of hands with his pocket knife. Then, he removes the cloth from my mouth by cutting it off of my face.
"Oh, Maddie." He says, rubbing his hand where the cloth was on my cheek. "Your face is red," he says.
He picks up the cloth, and sniffs it. "It's drugged." He says, gripping the cloth tightly.
I look beyond my father, to see my mother, pushing Peter away from the chasm, toward the Pire, where the other leaders, Max and Jack, are. My mother is also a leader, but she has to talk to them before anything can happen.
"Dad," I wheeze. "Infirmary." With that said, he picks me up, and runs me away from the chasm, and when I look back, through my blurred vision, I can make out red splashes on the grey rocks of the chasm.
Then, my vision goes black.

Sorry that this is so short. I have writers block, and I have some issues, being stuck in a snowy Oklahoma with my WHOLE family.
Sooooo.... I also have some other obligations. Leaving my phone unlocked with my Wattpad app on it = bad idea.
My cousins love to mess with my stuff, and they almost deleted my Detergent and Convergent stories.
