They say zombies don't feel anything, but Dan quickly found out, that wasn't true. Since Dan's brain was infected, he didn't know much. All he knew was a select few things. The first, he was hungry. The second, there seemed to be nothing that conquered his hunger, other than brains. In other words, Dan only knew that he needed to eat someone's brain.
As his crowd gathered around him, he realized he was hungry. He followed the group as they all walked. None of them knew where they were going, their bodies just took them. They entered an open highway, a place they ended up at a lot.
They scattered, not too far, but far enough. Nobody found anything, except for Dan. Dan looked towards the woods on the side of the road. There was a small group of humans. As Dan was about to start his attack, he suddenly stopped. The man in front of him looked familiar.
Dan didn't even know he had feelings. He didn't even know beautiful was a word. But as he stared at the man with raven hair in front of him, he realized that was the only word that described him. Dan knew the feeling of hunger, but not the new feeling that was taking over him.
Then all of your friends

Suddenly, Phil's friends got out their guns. There he was, a zombie, standing there, staring. They were ready to shoot, but Phil quickly stopped them. He realized quickly who was standing there.
"Stop! It's Dan!" He shouted, tears erupted in his eyes. He stood in front of the guns, they all put them down, eyes wide. Phil knew the threat of letting a zombie live, but he couldn't shoot him. There was nobody that could get him to shoot Dan. Dan may have become a zombie, but he'd always be Phil's husband.
The group around him wanted to be mad, but they knew the story. They knew Phil still loved Dan. Hell, Phil still wore the ring.

Phil slowly walked to the zombie. He was surprised when he wasn't eaten. Why didn't Dan eat him? He had no desire to. Usually, when Dan saw a human, he immediately grew hungry, ready to eat. Right now though, Dan felt nothing of the sort. He couldn't do anything. He couldn't sprint to Phil, tackle him down and eat him, all he could do is stand there, confused as to why he wasn't.
He growled and walked away. He wouldn't show that humans were here, he didn't understand why not. The zombies were hungry, he knew that for sure, but he wasn't going to let anyone eat Phil, or his friends. All he could do was ignore the feeling in his gut, and carry on.

A second floor apartment
Knocking all the stairs down to save your life

It was weeks later when Dan saw Phil again. His group wasn't slowly stalking they were sprinting. They were too hungry to wait around for someone to come to their small hideaway. They found a large building, one that wasn't as run down as their's.
They walked up the stairs, bombarded with bullets, chairs, tables, vases, plates, even a TV, anything to stop them from getting to the door. Many fell to the ambush. Although, they missed the small one. The small zombie that crept his way to the door, allowing everyone else to.
As they all walked in, Dan quickly realized who they were attacking. It had been no other than the man he had the strange feeling for. Everyone around him blurred as his face focused. It was like information was thrown from the back of his brain, his name was Phil.
Phil's group stopped shooting, still not trusting the man Phil loved. They didn't think Phil realized that this man was a zombie. Dan growled at the zombies behind him, claiming ownership over all the humans. None of the others argued, they weren't on the best terms to fight. Dan was a new zombie, making his fighting skills fresh, making him hard to defeat.

As the zombies retreated Dan stared at Phil. Phil's mouth went dry, what should he say, would Dan understand what he was saying even if he did say something? Phil wanted to find out.
"Um... hi," He stammered out. "You can stay if you don't eat us," Phil muttered, he had no idea how to talk to a zombie. Dan seemed to understand as he walked to one of the empty rooms.
"Phil, I know he was your husband-" Pj started, he put his hand on Phil's shoulder. He knew Phil was going crazy with the love he had for Dan. He tried to keep his voice gentle, but even when he did, it didn't work.
"What do you mean was?" Phil snapped, his eyes were bloodshot. He hadn't slept in a while, all he could think about was if Dan was alright. Pj swallowed hard, he knew Phil well, he wasn't taking the zombie apocalypse well, especially after Dan became a zombie last month. Phil really couldn't live without Dan. Pj glanced at Chris. The more he thought about it, could he live without him either?
"Sorry, you're right. He's still your husband," Pj hesitated. "But he's also a zombie... Do you think it's best to have a zombie stay here with us?" He asked, he hoped Phil would come to his senses. "It'll be fine, I'll take care of him," Phil was so in love, he was blinded by the reality of this situation.

That night, Phil sat up, watching Dan, he talked to him in their strange made-up language. They didn't really talk, they just understood. Pj sat up too, watching. Chris was asleep on his lap, and everyone around him was crashed. He didn't think the others knew about Dan and Phil's love. It was strong. It was stronger than anything you could ever imagine. Storms were strong, but they ended. Metals were strong, but they could break. People were strong, but there were always things they couldn't lift.
And I'd try not to bite and infect you

Suddenly, when Pj cleared his throat, Dan remembered he was there. He remembered that he was hungry. He realized what he craved. He got up, slowly closing in on Pj. Pj's eyes widened, he realized what was happening and jumped up, pulling Chris to him. Tears burst in his eyes as he realized he could die any minute, and so would Chris. He pulled out his gun.
"Pj, no!" Phil cried, running in between them.
"Phil, you're crazy, he'll kill us, it's his instinct," A tear fell down his cheek, this was hard for him too. Dan was one of his best friends.
"Phil," Chris glanced at him trying to talk him out of his trance.
Phil ignored them both and walked to Dan. He held his rough cheeks and cried, there was only one thing left to try.

"Dan, I know you're in there," Phil started, his tears were streaming quickly down his face. Dan stopped, not able to move. "Dan, it's your husband. Dan it's Phil. You have to remember me. I love you. You love me," Phil whispered, he moved closer.
"Phil... he's gone. There's no antidote.. there's no way-" Chris tried to talk him out of it.
"And that's Pj and Chris. They're our best friends. They were best men at our wedding. We were best men at their's. And over there, that's Louis and Liam! We're god parents of her beautiful daughter!" Phil paused, gasping for air. Pj dug his head into Chris' shoulder, this was hard for him to watch. "Dan, you have to remember. You have to! We're Dan and Phil!"
It was like it clicked. They were Dan and Phil. They were the Lesters. They were family. Dan broke down crying and hugged Phil so hard they could barely breath.
"Phil!" He cried. His skin quickly cleared up, and he no longer had craving for brains, the only thing he wanted was Phil. Dan knew now what he felt earlier, he felt love.
That's when Dan and Phil found out their love was so strong, it could do anything.
