At the station, Tess's sister Morgan ran into the office crying to Marie and pleaded for her help cause she was scared that the Crimson Order would come and kill her just like they did to her sister. Shocked by her words, Marie asked, "Why would you say that Morgan?"

Morgan then started to sweat in nervousness and she said to the two officers, "Tess was killed because of what she knew about Mary's past. But I think that I know those stories too! You see, this whole story about Tess and my ancestor burning at the stake, it's unlocked some forgotten memories from my childhood. I remember a date that our grandmother talked about and it was on the 17th of November in 1649; the day Mary Goodwin received help from the Bell family."

After hearing the name the Bell family, Jones' eyes went wide with surprise and he exclaimed, "Then that means Constance might know something about it! She'll help us go back into the past and investigate that very date!"

Marie nodded in agreement and then she looked at Morgan and said, "Morgan, I would advise that you stay here and be safe. In the mean time, Jones and I have a little trip to take to the past." And soon they headed back to the library to see Constance Bell.

As soon as they arrived and Constance noticed Marie and Jones approaching, she smirked and said, "I take it you need help peering into the past again?"

Jones nodded and Marie told the old woman, "To be exact ma'am, we need to know what happened on the pilgrim docks on November 17th 1649."

Just as Marie told her about the date, Constance's eyes went wide shock and surprise and she exclaimed, "I don't know how you two found out about that date, but this next bit concerns my ancestor Claire Bell!"

Marie tilted her head slightly and asked, "Why is that?"

Constance shook her head and told the female officer that she and Jones will soon find out the truth for themselves and she told them to close their eyes and imagine themselves back on the pilgrim docks 400 years ago as Claire Bell risks her life to talk to Mary Goodwin on the early morning of 1649. As soon as they did, Marie and Jones felt themselves being pulled back. Soon, Marie felt herself on the docks of 1649 and she looked and saw Mary Goodwin talking to a woman who Marie knew was Claire Bell.

Marie then heard Mary say, "Mrs. Bell, thank you so much for being here. I know how dangerous it is for you to be seen with me."

Claire scrunched her lip and said to Mary, "What is you want Miss Goodwin? You know that I can't help you cause the Crimson Order is onto you! They will find and kill you!"

"I'm really sorry to endanger you, but I need your help to take care of my notes! They have to be kept safe and it's the only way to bring them down! I've hidden my notes here at the docks and that's the last thing I ask of you! Let's just hope that the Crimson Order will have enough with one victim," Mary said with a look of determination on her face.

After she heard their conversation, Marie looked around and then a pile of paper caught her eye. As the story ends, Marie felt herself being pulled back into reality. As soon as Jones opened his eyes he exclaimed, "That was one hell of a tale! Listening to that story made us feel like we were there!"

Marie looked over at Constance and asked, "So your ancestor was trying to help destroy the Crimson Order?"

"Not directly, but she agreed to help Mary by preserving those papers that caught your attention my dear," Constance said and she handed Marie the papers she spotted.

Looking closely, Marie noticed that the ink on the papers has been badly damaged in their 400 years and she agreed to fix them. Marie also suggested that they talk to Morgan and tell her what they discovered about her ancestor. As they were about to leave, Constance stopped Marie and said to her, "On your way out dearie, could you find my black cat for me? The damned thing seems to have run away again."

Jones told her that they don't have much time, but maybe they'll help after the investigation. However, Constance exclaimed in anger, "WHAT DID YOU SAY?! Excuse me Marie, but I thought I heard David Jones refusing to help me! I'm sure that I must've heard wrong!"

Jones then pulled Marie away quickly so they can take care of their more pressing issues. After their talk with Constance, Marie decided to recover the writing from Mary Goodwin's old notes until they were visible enough to read. After Marie did that, she and Jones read them and what they read from Mary's notes was that she discovered that the Crimson Order's decisions were taken by just one person. Which means that the Crimson Order must have an all powerful leader. According to the notes, Theodora Hecate knew who the leader was, but due to Mary's immediate execution, she didn't have time to ask her about it.

Marie looked at Jones and said to him, "I'm guessing that this Theodora Hecate is Luna Hecate's ancestor. Maybe she knows what her ancestor knew. Let's ask Luna about the Crimson Order leader!" And soon they set out to talk to Luna.

As soon as they met with Luna in her forest hideaway, Jones said to her, "Luna, we've just discovered that your ancestor knew who the Crimson Order leader was 400 years ago. Please tell me that that knowledge has been passed on to you."

Luna soon got a look of fear on her face and she said, "My ancestor vowed to never reveal the truth about the Crimson Order leader on the day that Mary Goodwin got killed cause it was too dangerous."

"We know that it's dangerous knowledge Luna, but please try to remember. Hasn't anyone in your family ever mentioned it?" Marie asked.

Luna shook her head sadly and said to them, "I'm not even a member of my family anymore cause they kicked me out when I revealed myself as a witch of the wilds."

Jones scrunched his eyes at the woman and said to her sternly, "Luna, lives are at stake here! Are you positively sure that you don't know anything about the identity of the Crimson Order leader?"

Luna started to sweat nervously and she picked up a black cat and said, "The only people who knew the name of the Crimson Order leader are dead! That's why me and my black cat are hiding in the woods; to escape them forever!"

Once their talk with Luna was over with, Jones and Marie headed back to the station to talk to Morgan. In the interrogation room, Marie sat across the table from the teen girl and she asked, "Morgan, how much do you know about your ancestor's dealings with the Crimson Order?"

Morgan had a look of fear on her face and she said, "I know that she was brought down by the Crimson Order for trying to unmask their plans. She was a very brave woman and I'm proud to be her descendant."

"So you're telling us that she was wrongly accused like she claimed and that she wasn't a witch?" Jones asked.

Morgan shook her head at his words and said, "No, she was! I tried to follow her teachings and it's incredible how much I've learned thanks to them. But they used it as an excuse to get rid of her!"

Morgan started to cry and she said to Marie while sobbing, "You think the Crimson Order killed Tess like they did to Mary 400 years ago Inspector?! If so, why? Did she learn something? And if she did, was she trying to warn us to protect me? That her one attempt at redemption was cut short just like that and it's so unfair. It could have changed some things, but now the only things I have left of my sister are memories and a black cat."

After their talk with Morgan was done, Jones and Marie were walking back to their desks, when Jones said, "Is the Crimson Order really behind everything in Grimsborough?! And that unnamed leader? Do you think we'll meet their descendant somewhere along the road baby girl?"

"I think our best bet is to take a step back and see the murder in a new light David baby. Let's go back to the crime scene," Marie said and the two of them headed back to the nautical museum.

Once they got there, Jones and Marie looked around the ship replicas entrance until Marie found a trash bag which she knew will always be a goldmine. She also found a broken badge and knew that she had to put it back together. The first thing Marie did was put the badge back together and once it was whole, she saw that it was Tess's prisoner tag and Marie thought that Tess must've lost it during her fight with the murderer. She also saw that there was also some blood on it and that she needed to collect a sample.

Before she could take a sample from the badge, Marie cut open the trash bag and she started to dig through its contents until she pulled out a matchbox with some of its matches already burnt and she realized that those matches must've been used to burn Tess. She then knew that she had to collect something from them, but first she collected a blood sample from Tess's prisoner tag. Once Marie sent the blood she collected to Grace to be analyzed, Marie took some of the brunt matches and she also sent them to Grace to be analyzed along with the blood.

Meanwhile in the Aloki goldmine, a few Crimson Order members were gathered around and one of them exclaimed in fury, "This has gone on far enough! That stupid girl is getting closer to our secret!"

"We must do something though! I'd say we kill her and then the whole city if they know! As a matter of fact, let's kill the whole goddamn world," another member exclaimed in exasperation.

Suddenly, one member cleared their throat and they said, "We're not killing anyone until the leader gives out the order to. Until we do, we're staying put!"

After a while, Grace was done analyzing the matches and the blood sample and she called Jones and Marie to the forensics lab to tell them what she found. Once they were there, Grace told them about the blood sample first and she explained, "I took a look at the blood you collected from Tess's prisoner tag and I can tell you that it's not hers. And since Tess fought with her murderer before getting killed, then there's no doubt about it that it's your killer's blood. Also, the blood in question happens to be A negative; I hope this will be enough to catch your killer Marie."

After she heard that the blood is A negative, Marie knew that she was closer than ever to catch Tess's killer. She then asked, "What about the burned matches Grace? What did you get off of them?"

"I took a look at that those matches from the matchbox that you collected from the garbage Marie and I just so managed to find some hairs on them. They were partially burned, but a small part of it managed to be preserved. I compared them to Tess' hair and they don't match! Which means that they belong to your killer! So I analyzed them and I managed to find out that it's a sample of blonde hair," Grace explained and soon Jones and Marie realized that they were looking with a killer with blond hair.

After they got all their clues, Marie and Jones were ready to end the witch hunt and catch Tess Goodwin's killer. Once Marie got all the files on their suspects, the first one she looked at was Constance Bell but then she excluded her cause even though she knows witchcraft, she owns a black cat and her blood is A negative, she doesn't have scratches and she doesn't have blonde hair. Marie also excluded Milton Grimmes cause even though he owns a black cat and has A negative blood, he doesn't match the other attributes.

The next person Marie looked was Rebecca Moire and she saw that she knows witchcraft, she owns a black cat, she has scratches and she has blonde hair, but her blood was O negative not A negative so Marie excluded her. The next one Marie looked at was Morgan Goodwin and she saw that she knows witchcraft, she owns a black cat, she has scratches and she has A negative blood, but she doesn't have blonde hair so Marie excluded her. The final person Marie looked at was Luna Hecate and she saw that she matched everything; she knows witchcraft, she owns a black cat, she has scratches, she has A negative blood and she has blonde hair.

As soon as she showed her findings to Jones, they set out to arrest Luna Hecate. Once they confronted Luna in the interrogation room, Jones looked at her angrily and exclaimed, "So you're Tess' killer Luna! I knew your apparent craziness was just a facade! Now explain yourself!"

Luna then explained to the two officers, "You could never understand! You narrow-minded people with your misplaced sense of justice! You failed to grasp at the bigger picture! Tess wasn't so smart after all cause she stupidly threatened the Crimson Order! Our leader obviously couldn't let this go unpunished!"

After they heard those words, Jones and Marie's eyes went wide with surprise and Marie asked in shock, "What?! You mean, you're a member of the Crimson Order Luna?!"

Luna nodded and continued to explain, "Like all my family before me! My mission given to me by our all mighty leader was to bring the renegade witch down and eradicate the Goodwins once and for all! I sent Tess a pendulum to the prison she was in to allow her to escape. Once she did, I finally cornered her at the nautical museum! She fought with me, but I had justice on my side and she burned! The fire burned that little liar away and it's my mission to protect our leader which I'll follow; FOREVER!"

Jones scrunched his eyes angrily and exclaimed to the woman, "So you know who the leader of the Crimson Order is! Tell us Luna, who the devil is it?!"

"I'll never tell you! I'd rather die and I'd rather go to prison for the rest of my life than betray our leader," Luna exclaimed in anger.

The following day, Luna was standing before Judge Hall for Tess' murder and the judge asked if Luna has anything to say in her defense. Luna the said, "Tess was a serial killer Your Honor! I did you a favor! I did the whole town a favor!"

"As guilty as Miss Goodwin was, she was still a human being! You had no right to murder her and you are no better than she was," Judge Hall exclaimed to the woman.

Luna put a smile on her face and said, "And yet I stand here with a strong heart and a clear mind. For all I know, I did the right thing for our community!" And it was after those words that Judge Hall sentenced Luna to 25 years in prison hoping that she'll live her sentence like Tess since she couldn't and then court was dismissed.

After the trial was over, Jones and Marie exited the courthouse and Jones looked at Marie and said, "Can you imagine that baby girl, that's the closest we've ever been to the Crimson Order! We have to keep digging!"

"And to think we were so close to uncovering the identity of their leader too! But Luna won't say a word about it and it's hopeless on her end," Marie said while looking down at the ground sadly.

Jones put a hand on her shoulder and said to her while wearing a look on determination on his face, "We will find it Marie! We will find the Crimson Order leader and we'll bring them to justice. They will pay for all the misery they've brought to Grimsborough!"

Back at the station, Marie was coming back to her desk with a cup of coffee after solving a long, tough and complicated case. Suddenly, Jones approached her and said, "Hey Marie, I heard Cathy was here and she wants to talk to you." And soon Marie saw the pink-haired girl approach them and she gave Marie a big hug.

As soon as Cathy pulled away, Marie smiled at her sister and said, "What are you doing here Cathy?"

Cathy started to bite her nails and she said to Marie, "I'm sorry to bother you sis, but I can't stop thinking about grandpa and all the mysteries he took with him when he died. Did you know my grandma, his wife, was killed ten years ago? As far as I know it, it was probably just a robbery that went tragically wrong, but then I figured something didn't sit right. The murderer, Shane Kolinsky, was arrested, but then two weeks later he died of "unknown reasons." A bit too convenient, isn't it?"

Marie looked down and remembered that she and Cathy had two different grandmothers. Marie then said to her, "I'm not so sure if looking into your grandmother's murder will give you the answers you want Cathy, but Jones and I are willing to help you any way we can. We can go to the prison and ask for the murderer's records."

Suddenly, Ramirez ran up to Marie and said to her, "Inspector, Morgan Goodwin is here to see you and she says that it's urgent!"

After he said that, Jones and Marie headed towards the interrogation room where Morgan was waiting. Once they entered and Morgan saw them, she looked at Marie and said to her, "Inspector Marie, I just received another letter from Tess! It contained an audio cassette with a "valuable recording" of the Crimson Order, but unfortunately it doesn't work! The Crimson Order murdered my sister just because she was researching them and I don't want to die like her just because of some stupid tape!"

Marie passed Morgan some tissues to dry her eyes and she told the teen girl not to worry and that she will take over. Marie suggested that they send the tape to Alex to be analyzed and while they wait for the results, she and Jones can go and check out the prison for Cathy. As soon as they arrived at the prison and entered the warden's office, Marie and Jones saw that he wasn't in and they both agreed that they'll find the files on Donna King's murder without Milton's help.

After looking around the office for a while, Marie found an odd looking metal box and she thought that it was an odd place to store criminal files, but it also fits with the prison's general look. She then started to dig through the records until she found Shane Kolinsky's file, but it was all torn up. She then started to put the file back together until it was whole again.

Once Shane's file was back together, Marie and Jones read it and it said that Shane was sentenced to to 30 years in prison, he was convicted for the murder of Donna King and attempted robbery and he was also a known member of the Crimson Order and Jones was shocked that he killed the wife of another member. Confused, Jones said, "Cathy mentioned that her grandma died in a robbery gibe wrong, but why would Shane try to rob a fellow Crimson Order member in the first place?"

Marie shrugged and said, "I wish I knew too David, but sadly we can't question Shane Kolinsky ourselves since he died of food poisoning only two weeks later after being incarcerated. But maybe Milton can fill us in on the details." And soon they set out to talk to Milton Grimmes.

Once they found him back in his office, Marie looked at the man and said to him, "Mr. Grimmes, we have a few questions about one of your former detainees, Shane Kolinsky. His criminal record states that he died of food poisoning here in prison. Could you tell us more about it?"

Milton took a sip from his teacup and said to the female officer, "I'm sorry my dear, but I don't even know who that prisoner is."

Jones stepped up next to Marie and he scrunched his eyes at Milton and told him, "That prisoner murdered Samuel King's wife in a so-called robbery and seemed to have been murdered in turn but only two weeks later. Sounds kind of hard to forget."

Milton placed his cup down on his saucer and then he scrunched his eyes at Jones in anger and said, "Do you even realize all the inmates I have to deal with? Now why would I bother remembering an inmate who was here for only two weeks and then died years ago?! And let's suppose his death was not an accident. Who knows, maybe Samuel King found a way to kill Shane Kolinsky as a retribution for his wife's death. The point is, there's no way of knowing. Moreover, I don't like how you're questioning my methods! Now both of you, please leave my office!"

Milton then tossed a witch's costume to Marie and told her to take it since nobody got rid of any of Tess's stuff yet and that costume was something a "fan" sent to her. On their way back to the station, Jones let out a deep sigh and he said, "I don't know what was up with Milton back there, but sometimes I wish guys like him would get their sticks pulled out of their asses!"

Marie looked at Jones and said, "He might know something we don't. I think it's best that we keep an eye on him for the time being and see what happens."

Suddenly, Jones looked through the rearview mirror and saw a car behind them driving awfully close to their bumper. Jones scrunched his eyes and thought, I better pull up a bit so this guy won't tailgate us. And just as he did, the car kept driving closer. Jones kept pulling up and the car kept on driving close, until it bumped right into them. Marie jumped up when the car did that and she said, "What the hell was that?!"

"I don't know baby girl, but keep your seatbelt on! I'm gonna try and lose this guy," Jones said and soon he pressed on the gas pedal and started to speed away and the car that bumped into them started to speed after them.

Marie looked behind her and saw the car was still chasing them and she remembered that a similar incident happened with Tony Marconi, but she knew that he couldn't be behind this chase this time. Just then, the similar car pulled up next to them and it started to ram itself into the side of Jones and Marie's car. Marie looked on in fear and exclaimed, "What the hell are they doing?! Are they trying to kill us?!"

Jones looked at Marie and said, "I think that may be their intention! Hang on tight, I'm gonna try and lose them. And don't worry Marie, I'm gonna fulfill my promise to the end!"

Soon, a high speed chase happened through Grimsborough's streets like in a police drama, but instead of the cop chasing the culprit, the culprit was chasing the cop. Jones tried his best to lose their pursuer as well as avoid other cars and pedestrians. Jones scrunched his eyes and thought, I bet the Crimson Order sent this jackass to eliminate us cause we're starting to know too much or we're getting too close to truth. Just then, Jones got and idea and he looked at Marie and asked, "Hey baby girl, how good are your shooting skills?"

Marie tilted her head in confusion and asked, "They're pretty good. Why?"

Jones looked at the car chasing them and he looked at Marie and said, "I want you to listen to me, okay? Use your gun and shoot at this asshole's front tires! It will slow him down a little and that way we can get back home safely! Can you do that?"

Marie looked at her partner and then she looked at the car behind them and then she nodded saying she'll do it. It was then that Marie rolled down her window and leaned out pointing her gun at the other car. She squinted her eyes and tried to aim her gun at the target and once she was aligned with the first tire, she shot at it and the car started to sway a little once it was blown. Marie smirked and thought, one down! One to go!

She then aimed her gun at the second tire once the car regained control and she shot at it and the car started spin out of control as soon as it was blown. Once Marie was back inside their car, Jones pressed on the gas pedal and sped off leaving their pursuer behind. After they got back to the station, Jones and Marie saw all the dents in their police car and Jones rubbed his neck and said, "I can't believe it got wrecked again! And I just got it fixed up after that whole Marconi incident!"

Marie looked at Jones and said, "We can worry about this later David and let the insurance company help us on this one. Right now, I'm curious about who that person was who was trying to kill us."

Jones whispered out, "The Crimson Order." And Marid tilted her head and asked Jones if he said anything, but he shook his head and told her that it was nothing.

Once they got inside, Alex called them to the tech lab to tell them what he found on the cassette tape. As soon as he saw them enter, Alex said to Marie, "I looked at the broken audio cassette you gave me Marie and at first I thought that it was irreparably broken. But since it's an old audio cassette, I guessed that the problem might just be what is known as the "sticky shed syndrome."

Jones looked at Alex in confusion and asked, "I'm sorry, but sticky what?"

"It's a term meaning that the cassette took on water. So I baked it for a while and now all that's left is for Marie to synch the audio waves," Alex said to Jones and Marie.

Jones rolled his eyes not understanding a word Alex was saying, but he knew that the audio waves wouldn't be a problem for Marie. Afterwards, Marie got to work synching the audio waves until she for the voice recordings that matched. Soon, Marie put the cassette in the answering machine and pushed play and Jones was burning to know what information Tess had on the Crimson Order. Once Marie pushed play, the recording started.

On it, a mysterious voice said, "And what about Samuel King? I heard that he questioned the Order's faith. Do you think he could leave us?"

Another mysterious voice said to the other one, "That's why I called you in the first place. King cannot quit cause he's too valuable. For now, he still seems to be loyal, but the next time that he makes a wrong move; you know what to do!"

"Yeah, I know exactly how to make him return on the right path. Don't worry, Samuel King will never be able to leave the Crimson Order," the first mystery voice said to the second.

After that, Marie pressed the stop button and she and Jones stared at the machine with wide eyes. Jones then exclaimed, "I can't believe it Marie! The chief wanted to leave the Crimson Order?! It almost sounds like the Crimson Order did something to make sure he stayed in their ranks. But what?!"

"Well there's another question that requires a more immediate answer Jones; how did Tess get a hold of this recording? I think we should go ask Morgan cause after all, she's the one who gave us the audio cassette," Marie suggested and Jones nodded in agreement.

Once they met up with Morgan in the interrogation room, Marie looked at the teen girl and said, "Morgan, we were able to listen to the audio cassette Tess sent you and turns out that it belonged to the Crimson Order. Now this is very important sweetie. Do you recognize the voices on the recording and do you even know how Tess got a hold of it?" And Marie took the player out, pressed the play button and the recording started to play again for Morgan.

Morgan shook her head, looked at the two officers and said, "I swear, I don't know anything about it! I didn't talk to Tess anymore and I have no idea how she found the audio cassette in the first place!"

Jones nodded and said to her, "Well thank you for bringing this to us Morgan. You did the right thing."

After Morgan left, Marie let out a sigh and said, "I seems we can't do much more with what we've got, but knowing that the chief had issues with the Crimson Order changes the rules a little bit. We need to find out more about this!" And Jones nodded agreeing with her.

Later at the police station, Jones and Marie were at their desks and Jones said to her, "Marie, I have a feeling that we're really close to finding out something huge about the chief. We just need a bit more evidence so let's recap what we know. On one hand, according to Tess' recording, it sounded like Chief King wanted to leave the Crimson Order but they were never going to let that happen. And on the other hand, Shane Kolinsky, a fellow Crimson Order member, killed the chief's wife. And what's even weirder is that Shane himself was poisoned only two weeks after his incarceration!"

"The Crimson Order blackmailed the chief and another member killed his wife and yet, even after that, my grandfather remained a loyal member to them. It just doesn't make any sense! But by the sound of it, the blackmail and his wife's murder could be connected somehow. The only thing we're missing is the missing piece of the puzzle to prove it. I think the best option is to talk to Constance Bell since she knew the chief and she could probably give us some precious information," Marie said and Jones agreed and soon they left the station to talk to her hoping that they don't waste anymore time.

As soon as they got to the library and met with Constance, Marie looked at her and said, "Mrs. Bell, we just found out that Chief King's wife was killed by a man named Shane Kolinsky, a member of the Crimson Order. And we're trying to understand how this could've happened. Would you happen to have any documents of use in your archives?"

Constance shook her head and said, "Oh good lord, I'm sorry but no I don't. But I do remember that after his wife's death, Samuel often went to the nautical museum in his free time. You see, it was Samuel's wife who designed that project. And I just so happen to have the nautical museum's design plan displayed here in the library. It was Samuel's and I bought it at the auction sale after, well you know. I'm a huge fan of old ships you see. Anyway, it's old and badly faded, but I must say that the fact that the words 'Secret Cache' is written on it leaves me intrigued."

Marie and Jones thanked Constance for the map and Marie one that recovering the faded design plan would help them explain the mysteries surround Chief King. Once Marie brushed her powder over the map and recovered the museum's map, she and Jones saw that the red crosses on the map indicate the precise location on the ship. It was then, that Marie saw that the red crosses were on the ship's main mast, right where Tess was burned. The two officers soon left quickly to check it out and pray that whatever was hidden there didn't get burned too.

As soon as they arrived at the museum, Marie started to knock on the main mast until it opened and revealed a secret cache and she and Jones thought that Donna King must've included the secret compartment when she designed the museum. In the cache, Marie found a cryptex and while Jones wondered if the chief knew about the secret cache, Marie got to work solving the cryptex wondering what was inside.

A few minutes later, Marie solved the cryptex and inside it was a letter written by Chief King himself. Judging by how old it is, Marie knew that her grandfather wrote it before he even knew her. Soon Jones and Marie started to read it and it started with, 'To my Donna...'

King's Letter:

To my Donna,

I know you cannot read this, but putting it down on paper helps me. I know I couldn't stop Shane Kolinsky from taking you, but I will do anything to protect Cathy from the Crimson Order. I know what I have to do and my other granddaughter, Marie Holmes, is onto me and if she catches me alive, the Crimson Order will kill Cathy before killing me. It is their way. I just wanted to say goodbye to this place and your masterpiece as you used to call it. I'll join you and Doris soon my dear and I love you.

After they finished reading the letter, Jones and Marie looked down sadly and Jones said, "So the Crimson Order killed the chief's wife because he wanted to leave the Crimson Order."

"And he knew that I was going to catch like all the other murderers. And once he was arrested, the Crimson Order would have killed Cathy if he ever talked," Marie said.

It was then that Jones smiled brightly and then he started to laugh out loud and he picked up Marie in a hug and exclaimed while twirling her around, "I knew it! I knew the chief wasn't pure evil! He killed himself only to protect Cathy from the Crimson Order!"

After Jones set Marie down, she too also felt a great deal of relief. Suddenly, a thought came to her and she asked herself, "But then why didn't the chief tell us anything? We could've helped him you know!  We could've all worked together to help him bring them down. But one thing's for sure, Cathy cannot know about any of this until we bring the Crimson Order down. Who knows how she'll react if she knew."

Jones nodded in agreement and he got another thought in his head and he said, "And since she knows where we've been, we better go and ask Constance not to tell her anything if she comes asking!" And soon they left to ask Constance Bell to help them protect Cathy and tell her about their discoveries.

At the library, Marie looked at the old woman and said to her, "Mrs. Bell, thanks to the plan you gave us, we were able to find a secret cache hidden on the ship. In it, we found a letter from my grandfather to his deceased wife in which he explains his suicide."

Surprised by what she was hearing, Constance asked, "So why did he do it?"

"He did it to protect Cathy, his granddaughter, and he was afraid she was going to be killed by the Crimson Order just like his wife was. But we can't risk telling Cathy any of this cause she'll probably come here looking for answers, but you can't tell her anything until all of this is over," Jones told Constance.

Constance nodded agreeing not to tell Cathy anything. She then looked at Marie and said, "Good luck with what's coming next my dear! We need more people like you to help and protect us!" And Marie gave Constance a salute signaling that she will be ready.

Later at the station, Jones and Marie were at Marie's desk and Jones said, "I just can't believe it baby girl. The chief was manipulated and forced to act for the Crimson Order all these years! And the day he wanted to quit, they went and killed his wife! At least now we understand why he killed himself; to protect Cathy. What I still don't understand is why he killed Adam Bentley. Do you think Adam could've heard something about the Crimson Order that he shouldn't have? Just like so many others before him that are now dead?"

Marie got a look of anger on her face and she exclaimed, "Whatever the reason, the Crimson Order cannot continue to exist cause cleaning up their mess by killing innocent people and then using others in total impunity; it all has to stop! And the only way to stop the Crimson Order once and for all is by finding and unmasking their leader!"

Marie's POV:

After vowing that the only way to defeat the Crimson Order is to unmask their leader, Jones and I received a strange letter from the leader themselves stating that the team should head to the woods, which per Alex's deduction was a construction site. As soon as the team and I got there, we've discovered the body of Delsin Peota with his head scalped and the words 'YOU ARE NEXT' carved into his chest signaling that I will be the Crimson Order's next victim. Jones and I then consulted to Anakee to investigate a pilgrim feast in 1643 where we learn that after it, most of the Aloki people were slain in a brutal massacre.

We then dig up the site to find the skeletons of those same people and we realize that Delsin's murder and the murder of the Aloki are all connected. We also discover that Delsin was murdered in an illicit gold mine and we also learn the truth about why Adam was killed. We also had to detain Cathy cause she was meddling in the mine and it was then that Jones and I learn of hers and Alex's relationship. Will I be able to keep my life in my last case of Grimsborough? And who is the Crimson Order's leader?
