As Dan laid there, staring at the ceiling, he thought about his existence like he always did. He thought about death. He thought about where he went after death.
Right now, in his mind, the world was dark and cold. He watched the ceiling and focused on each and every spot his eyes could muster.
He thought about his rocky past and his worrying future. He didn't know what would happen, or what wouldn't happen. He didn't know what dreams would come true and which ones wouldn't. He just.. didn't know.
As Phil walked into Dan's bedroom Dan didn't even notice. Dan was so stuck on the ceiling he barely noticed when Phil laid down next him. Until he grabbed his hand. Dan's new focus was the warm feeling that ran from his fingertips to his heart.
The bright stars can't shine in the dark until the sun sets. Everything in their minds became clear. They loved each other, darkening but outshining each other every step of the way.
"What are you thinking about Dan?" Phil whispered as he stared up at the ceiling with him. Phil squeezed his hand.
"You," Dan whispered.

*Flashback to 2010*
"Come on Dan," Phil pleaded Dan again. They were in the garden of a friend. There were fairy lights strung everywhere in the dark. Light music played and everyone swayed to the beat.
"Phil I..." Dan hesitated. Not because he didn't like Phil, he loved him with all his heart. Phil just didn't know it yet. The thing that scared Dan was that he didn't know if the alcohol was taking, or Phil.
"You know you want to daaance. You want to dance with meee. Cause you loooove me," Phil made it up along with the tune of the music. Dan's face went red.
"Phil.. there are too many people," Dan mumbled.
"They're all sloshed, they won't care," Phil pleaded some more.
"Aren't you, too?" Dan narrowed my eyes at him.
"Maybe a little," He smirked. "But my feelings about you still haven't changed."

*Flashback to 2016*
They finished their last show together. The glory of the tour had ended, and it was time to go home. They sat in their back room listening as everyone ran out of the room.
Phil smiled at what a great time he had, but then he realized that Dan was sniffling. He sat up and realized he wasn't sniffling, he was full out bawling.
"Dan, why are you crying? Are you sad it's over?" Phil asked stepping closer to him. Dan got up and and ran into Phil's arms. Dan almost collapsed as he hugged Phil tighter than ever before.
"Thank you," He whispered through his tears. "Thank you Phil," He cried.
"For what?" Phil asked back.
"Everything."

*Flashback to 2019*
As Phil walked through those doors and saw Dan sitting there in that seat, his smile grew. He loved how Dan looked that night.
Phil sat down next to him and grabbed Dan's hand. He thought about how perfectly they fit. Dan's hands seemed to slide into all the dips in Phil's hand. When they kissed it was like their lips fit even better. As their noses brushed and their different lip types smashed together, they feeling was smooth, grand, and perfect. When they cuddled it was the same. Dan and Phil were like two pieces of a beautiful puzzle. They fit together perfectly together and only together. You can't create the puzzle of love unless you can connect the pieces.
One day,
We will be brave,
I'll tell the world,
I feel this way.
But I look up high,
And wonder why,
They need to know,
How our life goes.
*Present time: 2022*
Dan and Phil sat in their separate rooms. They watched their selves in their seperate mirrors and had the same stupidly in love smile.
They tied their ties and set up their camera's. It was time. They were both ready to release their love to the world.
They were both terrified. Not of getting married, of course. They were more than excited about getting married. This was something they both had been waiting for since 2009.
They were scared of how their viewers would react. Until they weren't.
Until they realized that it was nobody else's opinion on whether they could or couldn't get married. They figured that out the day Phil proposed.
"Hello internet, I have twenty minutes, and a story to tell," Dan smiled at the camera and told his side of the story.
"Hey guys! I share pretty much everything with all of you, and now it's time for me to tell you what I haven't," Phil said telling the other side of the same story.

*Flashback to 2010*
They sun was completely set, making the fairy lights around them even brighter. They danced in each others arms letting go of feelings for each other they didn't know they had.
"I love you, did you know that Dan?" Phil whispered as they glided around the grass. "In a more than a friend way."
Dan laughed quietly. "I wish you weren't drunk right now," Dan sighed. He wanted Phil to mean what he said.
"It's true, I promise. Ask me in the morning, my answer won't change," Phil looked pleadingly into Dan's eyes. "Will you be my boyfriend?" He asked quietly.
Dan was taken aback by the question. He didn't know that Phil felt the same way, and know that he did.. Dan was at a loss for words.
"Be my boyfriend," Phil begged, he saw Dan hesitate. "Be my boyfriend so I can marry you one day," Phil kissed Dan's blushing cheek.
"I would love to." With that, Dan and Phil started dating.

"Dan, you don't have to thank me." Phil whispered, Dan stopped crying. He was now the most happy person he's ever been.
"You're the one who got me here," Dan said giving Phil a long and passionate kiss.
"Trust me Dan," Phil smiled at his love. There was so much he didn't know about himself. Phil felt like Dan helped him more than he helped Dan. "I gave you a little push," Phil thought about his next words as he looked into Dan's eyes. "You got here all on your own."
"I still wouldn't be here without you," Dan put his forehead to Phil's. "And I wouldn't want to be here without you."

*Flashback to 2019*
"You look lovely tonight," Phil whispered kissing Dan.
"You look better," Dan whispered back.
They ate their dinner and talked about their memories. When dinner was over, Phil took the small box he had been carrying out.
"Daniel Howell.. where do I even start?" Phil started, Dan's eyes immediately began to water. "Well I'm going to start with a small story," Phil thought about his words. He had rehearsed this a million times in his head, but now that he was here, his mind seemed clearer. "When I got out of uni, I imagined I was going to meet a nice girl and settle down. Until I met you. I met you and... I don't know, things just.. fell into place. I realized that I didn't need to settle down to be happy. I had you, and that was better than anything I could have ever wanted. And now there is no way I could even try to live without you. So Daniel James Howell, will you marry me?"

"Let's go home," Phil whispered kissing Dan one more time. It was like he couldn't get enough of Dan's lips at the moment. He was so intoxicated by their love that all he wanted to do was give Dan as much love as possible.
"Yeah, let's go home," Dan kissed Phil back, feeling the same intoxication that he did.

*Flashback to 2019*
"Yes!" Dan cried over Phil's words. "Of course! Of course I'll marry you," He laughed through his tears as Phil slipped the engagement band on Dan's finger. They came to a heated, but soft and passionate kiss.
"Want to know what my plan is now?" Phil asked Dan quietly.
"What?" Dan asked. He expected Phil to go off. To make a long list on what their plan for the future was, but all Phil said was one thing.
"You."

As Dan and Phil stood on opposite sides of the wedding aisle, they wanted more than anything to run to each other. They had been waiting for this moment ever since 2009.
As Dan stood there he thought about all the things that Phil had done for him over the twelve years they had known each other.
Phil had done so much for him, he wanted to make it up to him. He wanted Phil to feel as loved and saved as Dan did.
The only thing Dan didn't know, was that all Phil wanted was for Dan to marry him. For Phil, that was better than anything he ever did for Dan.

*Flashback to 2016*
"Dan, have I ever told you how much I want to marry you?" Phil asked as their breaths mingled in the cold London air. Their hands were connected and hidden from the sight of the street lamps in Phil's coat pocket.
"A few times," Dan smiled softly at Phil.
"I want to marry you more than anything," Phil said opening the door to the coffee shop they were entering.
"Oh, shut up," Dan laughed, taking his hand out of Phil's pocket. There was a slight blush on his cheeks.
"It's true Danny," Phil said following him to the ordering line. What Dan didn't know, Phil already got the ring.

*Present time: 2022*
"I do," Phil said squeezing Dan's hands as they stood up at the alter.
"You may kiss the groom."
And with that, Phil kissed the love of his life. After years of waiting, they were finally married, and happier than they've ever been.
