Vikklan - Hello World

Vik's POV

Its was in the middle of rush hour when I decided for lunch. So now I am stuck in the car waiting for the traffic to continue on. I was right at a stoplight, which was currently red as cars upon cars crossed the streets. I had the radio slightly playing on when Hello World came on.

Traffic crawls, cell phone calls

Talk radio screams at me

Through my tinted window I see

A little girl, rust red minivan

She's got chocolate on her face

Got little hands, and she waves at me

Yeah, she smiles at me

I look over in traffic to see all the people yelling or on their phones, when one crossed my eyes. A red van, and in the back seat was a girl. She had pretty blonde hair and looked like chocolate around her lips. I was confused on that before I saw her ice cream in her hand. The driver of the van was a male. I would guess he is around my age. He was having a conversation with his daughter. I could tell it was his daughter from the resemblance. I continued on letting my eyes wander from car to car, being snoopy. But thankfully the light turned green and the cars began to move, bumper to bumper. As I got to the actual light and underneath it, it changed to yellow. The last line of cars drove forward following as the next line stopped and waited. It wasn't until I was half way across when the sound of someone speeding ahead hit my ears before a loud clank and the sound of metal being dragged.

Hello world

How've you been?

Good to see you, my old friend

Sometimes I feel as cold as steel

And broken like I'm never going to heal

I see a light

A little grace, a little faith unfurled

Hello world

I looked back to see two cars head collided and the whole block seemed to stop their cars. I immediately parked and got out of my car. At least twenty others had done so along with me. I almost ran over to see if anyone was injured and if we could help. I winced when I notice the two cars. A Buick Lacrosse and the Red Minivan. I jogged up to the minivan while a few others ran to the Buick.

In London traffic it would take a few minutes before an ambulance could get here, so everyone was prepared to help.

Once I got to the van, I saw the whole left back end was smashed in. I ran to the drivers side and looked in to see the man from earlier in his seat, looked like trapped in his seat.

"Sir? Can you hear me?"

The man immediately looked over, sympathetically. He nodded and said

"Yes I can."

"Can you open the door?"

He slightly nodded and reached over to the door before opening it.

"Can you get out?"

"No. The steering wheel is locked here keeping my legs are stuck."

"Okay we will get you out soon. You had another passenger in right?"

"Yeah my daughter Audrey. Did you get her out?"

"No sir. Is she in the back? We can get her after we pull you out."

"No no no no. Get Audrey first. Oh god Audrey."

he said worrying and looking back. He let all of his breath and soon tried to reach back there before half shouting

"AUDREY!" his voice cracked as I glance back to see the young girl was completely limp and her head was dripping with blood.

"OH GOD! Audrey. Get my daughter please. PLease." the man pleaded trying to yank the steering wheel away.

I quickly moved to the back door and threw it open, with the top half hinging off as I saw Audrey in the seat nearest to me. I quickly checked the young girls pulse, to find none.

I quickly grabbed her by the waist and the knees and carefully moved her to the flat ground. I laid her back down and carefully began to give her CPR.

"Audrey! Oh my god Audrey." I hear from her dad who was still locked in the car. I saw some feet shuffle past and to the father as he quickly tried to escape his car.

I continued to give CPR counting out the compressions when I heard someone run, more like sprint over to me. I looked up for a second to see her father.

"CPR might not be enough. When I tell you breathe into her."

"O-okay." he said as I continued on.

"Now."

And this continued for a while, as I began to tear up from hearing the father. He was bawling at his dead daughter and whispered her name and sweet things in her ears.

After minutes, we had a crowd around and there was little hope. As I continued to CPR and tell the father when, I checked a pulse and felt the faintest pulse.

"WAit, stop." I said throwing my and over to the man to signal him to stop. He rocked back on his feet instead of his knees. I brought my ear down to listen better. I could hear faint breaths and let out a sigh of relief.

I looked over at the father and he looked like he was about to break.

"She's breathing."

The man took in a large breath and held onto it as he cried from joy as his daughter lived.

Sometimes I forget what living's for

And I hear my life through my front door

And I'll be there

Oh I'm home again

I see my wife, my little boy, little girl

Hello world

Hello world

He leans forward and hugs his daughter as I can vividly hear the sound of an ambulance.

"Oh my god thank you thank you thank you. I can never repay you for this. Oh,"

"You're welcome. It was the right thing to do."

"What's your name good sir?"

"Vik."

"Thank you Vik. My name is Lachlan."

"You're welcome Lachlan."

He faintly smiled at me before glancing back down to his daughter.

"Does the mother need contacted?"

"Oh no. You will not reach her."

"At work?"

"Dead."

"Oh my. I am so sorry."

"No no, its alright, its just us."

I hear the sound of brakes being hit as I look over to see the ambulance get here. Some doctors rush out and over to us.

"Hello sir. My name is Courtney and I will be helping you. May I check your wounds?"

"Please check my daughters before me. She been though worse.

"Thank you. STRETCHER." the doctor, Courtney, yelled as her partner brought one over. She carefully took Audrey out of Lachlan's hands and lifted her over to the stretcher. The blood from her head injury was all in her long blonde hair and on her cute kitten shirt and skirt. I started to stand up and as I did, I saw that Lachlan was having some troubles standing.

I extended a hand to him and he took it as he struggled to stand.

"Sorry about that, I really can't feel past my knee."

"Then let's get you over to the ambulance." i said as I brought his hand around my shoulders to help him walk over to the ambulance. Almost one hundred people were crowded around the ambulance and watching. We made our way over to the car and he sat down as Courtney came back over to us.

"How is she? How is Audrey?"

"Audrey has a concussion. Probably mild to severe. Her seatbelt cut off the oxygen to her brain for that minute before someone pulled her out. Anytime after that, she'd be gone. Other than that, she should be just fine after we run a few tests."

"Thank you so much."

"I wouldn't really thank me. Thank who ever pulled her out. They saved her life."

I couldn't help but smile and blush at that as I stood over by the door of the ambulance. I could see Lachlan smile and looked over from the corner of my eye. I just smirked and glanced over.

"Anyway, we need to get you to the hospital as soon as possible with your daughter. Was their any other people in the car or that will be traveling in the ambulance?"

"It was just us two in the car, but if the fellow by the door would like to join he can." he said directed the comment over to me.

I turned by head over and said,

"I have a car to take care off."

"Well you are a witness to this so you will need to come either way. One of the police can pick up your car and leave it at the hospital. Now are you in the ambulance or not?"

I just slightly smiled and made my way over to the ambulance as they begun to put Audrey and Lachlan in. I gave my car keys to the police man there, telling him I was a witness and it needed to get to the hospital before jogging and getting in the ambulance and sitting next to Lachlan before they closed the doors and drove off.
