When you first met him, you thought that he was a boy with anger issues. Nothing more and nothing less, until you were practically forced to work with him on a school project.
"I don't want to work on basketball. It's lame. Football is so much better." Shido rolled his eyes as you walked beside him and let out an annoyed groan.
"But I don't want to make this project about football. Only because you play it, doesn't mean that we have to do it about football!" Shido growled as his pink orbs fixated you.
"What do you want to do this project about? Huh?!" You growled back at him and brought your face closer to his while squinting your eyes. Ryusei leaned forward as well and started a staring contest.
"What's about music or are you perhaps too busy to experience the wonderful power of music, huh?" You teased him and poked his chest while he grew angrier with any second.
"Music sounds fine but I bet you don't have any taste so-"
"Well, too bad that I have to break down your expectations on me. My taste in music is very good, you dimwit."
Most of your classmates were afraid and intimidated by Ryusei because of his aggressive character but you knew that he had enough manners to control himself in front of you when it came to the physical aspect. At least you hoped so.
"Tch, let's see then." Both of you stepped inside your house and into your room which was to your relieve clean. Without a comment leaving his lips, Shidou sat down on the floor and eyed you after unpacking the necessary school stuff.
"Any ideas, Insect?" You sat across from him and skimmed through the notes you held in hand.
"You watch my games?" A teasing smirk was plastered all over his face while you tried to internally calmed down.
It was true that you had watched a few of his games but you were practically forced to get to know the person you should work with, right? But he was really good at playing and you liked the look he had in his eyes when he played so...
"Yes, I have but not because of you." That was a straight lie and your partner seemed to look straight trough it.
"Deny it all you want, Y/n but you can't change the truth." He let out a chuckle as you growled once again.
"Okay then. If you are done saying nonsense, present me-"
"How about we make the project about the effects music has on people? Your cute mouth commented on the 'wonderful effect' music has on yourself earlier or did you said that because of something else too?" The smug and winning facial expression made your insides boil with rage.
"You know, sometimes the urge to hit your pretty face is undeniably strong."
You huffed and crossed your arms over your chest while looking to your left. It pissed you off that all the teasing and the interactions you had with Shido sparked something inside you. It made you all giddy and excited that you could finally let the comments inside your mind, slip out of your mouth without worrying too much. Ryusei wouldn't back down and that gave you somehow and in a twisted way, some reassurance and comfort. With him, you didn't need to hold back.
"And why don't you hit it?" Shido's chin rested in his hand while his elbow rested on his knee.
"What?" Your head snapped back to the dark skinned male who eyed you but this time with a serious face and without his usual smirk.
"Why do you hold back? Are you perhaps afraid of ruining my pretty face?" The corner of his soft looking lips curled up as he looked your confused and irritated form up and down.
"I know that you could take a hit or more but-"
"Then hit me."
Shido stood up and grabbed your hand to get you on your legs as well.
You two stood mere inches apart and your eyebrows scrunched as he mustered you once again. His face on the other hand showed pure amusement. Ryusei was fascinated by you but it bugged him that you restrained yourself from being the real you. He so badly wanted to see the fire in your eyes that gleamed in them every time you saw him. He wanted to see you explode, metaphorically. You growled when he pushed you.
"What's up, cutie? Are you too weak to lift your arm or-"
Before he could say more things, everything you held back came to the surface and with one swift and sharp movement, your palm collided with his cheek.
Both of you looked at each other with surprise before Ryusei broke out in laughter.
"Oh my, Y/n. I don't know what you kept holding back but it must have been really annoying for you." While he was busy with laughing you looked at your stinging palm.
You had hit him and it had felt...relieving. Utterly relieving.
"Thank you." You were too deep into your thoughts that you didn't hear his laughter dying down or the hint of worry in his eyes with which me stared at you.
"You thank me for hitting me? You know, usually people apologize."
Shido laughed again but stopped when you looked at him with admiring and thankful eyes. He was taken aback by the emotions you showed him but it also pained him.
"Has nobody seen what's going on inside you?" His usual strands of blonde hair with pink tips framed his face as he looked at you.
"I don't even know myself what's going on inside me. Sometimes I feel sad for no reason but at other times I will cry my heart out because I live alone in another country without my parents. Because they have no time for me. My friends care all for me but sometimes it's just-"
You struggled to find the right words while clutching on to your pants that suddenly seemed to be pretty interesting to you.
"Too much?"
You nodded and looked back into his pink eyes. Both of you didn't have a clue on how you two stumbled in such an intimate moment but both of you decided to ignore the reason for it.
"Come on, you little demon. Let's work on the project."
The project Shido and you had worked on, was finished and already presented in front of the whole class a few months ago. It was a presentation with the effects music has on people with psychological proves and other things. When you got your grade for it, you were glad that it was an A.
"Yes and then she said-"
"Hey, Y/n!"
Your friend group stopped in their tracks to see Shido swaying over to you.
"All of you can go. I have to do something with him alone." Your friends nodded and eagerly went home. It had become kind of usual by now.
"Do you want to work on your homework with me or what do you want to do?"
You looked into his eyes while tilting your head a bit. You really weren't in the mood to mess with him today since you had called and texted your parents the day before yesterday but they didn't call or even text back. You thought that they were too busy to answer in a matter of one day but by now it hit you that they simply didn't care since they've read the message you wrote them.
"It's homework so let's go."
Shido grabbed your hand and pulled you with him to your house. The walk was filled with Shido's rambling about his and other football teams but every now and then he squeezed your hand and waited for you to walk beside him.
Some students at your school had started to notice that Rysuei treated you like his equal. He wouldn't let you fall behind him when you two would walk together in the hallway and he didn't bite back his comments when he was around you because he knew you wouldn't hold back yourself.
When both of you stood in front of your house, you gave him your keys. The pink eyed boy grabbed them and unlocked the door without letting go of your hand.
Inside your room, Shido sat down on your bed and pulled you beside him after both of you had taken off your shoes.
"What's up, cutie?" He looked at you after his pink orbs scanned your room. Ryusei had visited you after school quite often since you had worked on the project some months ago. Your room was never really messy unless you didn't feel well. Over the time you two had gotten closer so you knew about his problems while Shido knew about yours and how you acted when something bothered you.
"I'm tired."
You closed your eyes and leaned against him. You hadn't slept the last two days because you were too afraid to miss a call or text from your parents.
"These idiots haven't answered, right?" He growled when you nodded against his shoulder.
"By now I think that they don't care for you." He huffed and his comment made your heart hurt.
"I know that they don't care anymore. I get the money I need for rent and groceries but other than that, they ignore me. But it hurts. It hurts so much, Shido. To have hope that they'll call or text me back is so exhausting."
Silent tears ran down your face when you were suddenly moved further on to your bed.
"I understand."
He lay down beside you and pulled you closer to him, so that your head rested on his chest.
His usual horny, teasing and aggressive persona has washed away in an instant to give you the comfort you needed. The last few times you had a bad day, he took you out on dates to distract you from your problems or he simply had play-fights with you where you could throw your fists at him while he did that too. But both of you held back a bit to prevent causing crucial injuries.
Today was different.
Shido's cat like pupils looked at you in detail as you cried into his chest. His one arm was wrapped around your body, held your waist and drew circles on your stomach while his other arm functioned as a pillow underneath his head. Rysei came to the conclusion that he would fight everyone and everything for you and football.
"Tell me something." Your hand clutched the fabric that covered his chest as you opened your eyes as your tears slowly vanished.
"What do you want to hear something about?"
Shido looked down at your tired figure. He never once stopped to caress your skin and draw circles on it.
"Tell me about your passion for football. When I saw you play, you always had that spark in your eyes. A special fire inside you. Tell me about it."
Ryusei laughed and started to explain to you what football for him felt like.
"It makes me feel complete and excited. It makes me explode in a way that feels intoxicating."
You chuckled sleepily.
"I seriously think that I'm addicted to football but other players are sometimes intimidated because of my 'toxic' behavior. It's completely fine and I don't want to change it. Why? Because it shows that I am willing to fight for the things I want, no matter the costs."
A light snore interrupted him and a quiet laugh escaped his lips when he saw you sleeping and drooling on his chest.
"Football makes me feel the same things I feel when I am together with you."
His pink cat like eyes softened as he took once again a closer look at your figure. It was all curled up into him and your legs were tangled with his.
"You can drool on me all you want, Y/n. Doesn't change the fact that I will tease you afterwards." Shido chuckled and pressed a light kiss on your head which made you stir.
"I heard that, you demon. You're the pure evil you know..."
The football player laughed whole heartily as you wiped your drool away with the back of your hand before plopping your head on his chest again.
"But I feel the same way when I am with you. I think I love you. Will you date me?"
You looked up with a smile while Shido laughed even louder and harder.
You managed to surprise him again every time. Since he indirectly confessed first, you didn't have a problem with spilling the things that were on your mind.
"Yes, I'll date you. You small dragon." Both of you smiled at each other with wide smiles when you suddenly scrunched your face.
"What's the matter, doll?" You inhaled sharply in a playful manner.
"I don't know if I want to see you naked on my balcony in the morning every now and then. I am sure that will be the death of me and oh my god. What if your toxic behavior starts to intoxicate me?"
You playfully frowned but laughed when your freshly baked boyfriend started to tickle you.
"S-shido!"
He laughed harder when he heard your laugh because it sounded more like a dying or snoring animal.
"I really like your laugh. It sounds quite extraordinary." You hit his chest with a smirk when both of you calmed down.
"Well you know, I actually got inspired to laugh like this when I heard you snarl at the time when you were hoarse after screaming really loud for a few hours straight."
You giggled when he pinched your hip lightly before you let out a yawn.
"You should really sleep." Shido drew circles on your skin again when you snuggled closer to him.
"And what are you going to do the whole time? I don't think that I'll end up napping for only an hour."
He hummed and grabbed one of the many manga that lay on your night stand.
"I have my phone and I have many manga, so I'll be busy enough to let you peacefully drool on my shirt."
Shido laughed once again when you pinched his well trained stomach.
"Thank you for your generosity, you little ant."
He kissed your head and mumbled in your ear as you slowly drifted off to sleep.
"Everything for you, doll. Oh my- is that yaoi?! Why are they naked?! If I would have known that you also seem to be pretty horny, I would have touched you more often."
You heard him subconsciously and giggled in your sleep.
Looks like Shido would find a new hobby during the next few hours.
