"Hopefully we will find some cute guys or girls~"
I could only chuckle.
Currently me and my best friend were on a plane to Japan. We planned everything but like I know her/ him the planning was for nothing.
"When does the plane land?"
She / He looked at me with a hint of curiosity.
"You look like a small child and-"
"Dear passengers. We will land in a few minutes in Tokyo-"
"See? We are landing in a few minutes. I hope we find our hotel easily...."
"Yeah I hope so too..."
Luckily we found the hotel fast and went into bed minutes after we arrived. The flight was exhausting and it was nighttime.

The next morning, I woke up with a hand in my face.
"Ugh."
I stood up and went to the fridge but what did I expect?
Of course. Who would have filled the fridge with groceries?
Due to money problems we decided to rent a small hotel without any food or service. It was a lot more cheaper which was very good.
"Y/n..?"
I turned around and looked at Bf/n.
"Yeah..?"
She / He lifted one eyebrow and when I got the hint I opened the fridge. Her / His reaction was the same as mine.
"Come on, change. We'll buy groceries."
I clapped my hands together and went into the bath to make myself ready.
After half an hour or so we went out of the hotel and searched a grocery store on Google maps.
"Look this one seems good and it's not even 5 minutes from here."
With that she / he took my hand and dragged me to the store.
Great.
"Okay, what do we need?"
We looked at our grocery list and took everything into the cart that we needed.
When I walked pass a guy that worked there he seemed to murmur something, but I was too shy to ask and wasn't sure if he really said something. He then looked at me with a kind of angry expression on his face and I felt bad if I ignored him but Bf/n called me and I walked to her.
"Y/n? Do you see buttermilk here? I haven't found it...Could you please ask the guy if they have buttermilk? Oh and could you ask after citronella candles too? You know because of my social anxiety and you know..?"
"But what if he doesn't speak English? What if-"
"Excuse me sir?!"
Where did your social anxiety went?!
She / he pushed her/ his hand in the air and waved to the guy I passed earlier. We went to him and when we stood tight in front of him, my dear best friend decided to shut her/ his mouth.

"Uhm, do you speak -"
"Yes. Yes, I do."
He seems mad...
"Uhm, do you have citronella scented candles? You know with citrus-"
"I can look in the back for you but I don't think we have them..."
He walked pass us and disappeared.
After 2 minutes or so the golden eyed guy came back.
"I'm so sorry we don't have these candles here. We only have funeral candles..."
He smiled an apologetic smile and scratched his neck.
Oh my god. So cute!
"No problem. Actually I have another question..."
With curiosity the male mustered me and answered with a 'yeah?'.
"Do you guys have buttermilk?"
,,Butt-buttermilk?! What is...Oh...OH yeah, yeah. I know what you mean. I'm not sure, but we can look!"
He went into the milk part of the store and searched after the requested drink.
Oh my god. That is so embarrassing! Maybe it is called completely different and I just used the wrong word? But he seems to be a bit calmer now...
"I only see yogurt drinks-"
"Oh that's fine! We just try that!"
My best friend snitched him the yogurt drink out of his hands and started to pay our groceries.
"Uhm, thank you again..."
I glanced shyly at him but he smiled and said that it was no problem.

"Oh my god! That guy was so cute!"
"Yeah...Yeah, he was."
"And nice!"
"Yeah, but that was 5 days ago...Why are you thinking about him now?"
"Because we need a few drinks...and our fridge is empty..."
"Again?!"
"Yeah.."
"Okay. Then let's go!"
20 minutes later we had the most from our list and only needed a few drinks.
"Oh look! There is the guy from last time!"
"Bf/n!"
Oh no. Not him! That with the buttermilk was so embarrassing! And why the hell is he sitting in the middle of the isle?! Ok Y/n, get a grip on yourself. You can try to walk with the cart around him...that should be no problem.
I took the cart and slowly drove passed the guy with golden eyes.
"Oh sorry!"
He took the drinks he sorted in and pushed them near the shelf and placed himself near to it too.
He won't notice that's me ,right? But it would be rude to not answer him...
"No problem! Not your fault."
What the hell happened to my English?!
His eyes darted up and he looked straight into my eyes while I murmured some words...
The guy seemed to watch me but I was red like a tomato so I gulped and walked with the cart pass him.
Oh man.
3 days before we left, our fridge was empty again and so we went into the grocery shop one last time.
"Do you think we have enough money for these funny drinks here? I mean they are for kids but they look tasty..."
"Yeah just take one for you and one for me okay?"
"Okay! Which one do you want?"
I took two and turned around to ask her/ him if the drink I chose was ok but she /he wasn't there anymore.
"Bf/n..? Hello...?"
Okay. You are alone in a different country in a unfamiliar grocery store and now your best friend is away. Don't panic!
I hesitantly looked around and tried to find my best friend but she /he wasn't there.
When I went into a different direction, the cute guy suddenly appeared in front of me and watched me with some fascination while I was busy with panicking.
Just go away from the guy!
So I went into a complete other direction while I was again red like a tomato and continued my search.
When I finally found my best friend she/ he looked completely calm.
"Where were you?"
I ran to her/him while she/he just chuckled at my behavior.
"Oh, come on. I said that you can find me by the sweets."
"No, you didn't."
"Yes I did."
"Ugh."
We finished our grocery shopping and waited for the moment we could pay our groceries.
"Oh man this is a really long queue. Why don't they open a second one?"
And on comment the cute guy came and opened another one.
Oh dear lord no...
"Come on" and bf/n dragged me to him.
Yay...
He talked a bit with my best friend and asked her what 150 means in our language.
She/ he told it and he repeated it like a really good student.
He said that we didn't need to pay the extra Yen for the bags.
Oh my god. How kind...Did I mentioned that he smiled this cute smile of his every time I saw him?
We thanked him and went into the hotel.
"Oh my god he likes you Y/n! you should ask if you can have his number." Was the first sentence she / he screamed after I told her/ him the (awkward) situations between him and me.
"That would be cringe. I don't even know his name!"
"Then ask!"
On our last day we bought a few snacks in the same grocery store, but the guy wasn't there.
What a pity. Of course he doesn't work here when I want to ask after his name or his number...maybe it shouldn't be. Who knows?
"Wait Y/n!"
I was on the way to the hotel to take my luggage when my best friend yelled after me. In her/ his hand was a piece of paper.
No, she/ he didn't...
When she/ he was in front of me, she / he gave me the piece and answered my unasked question.
"His name is Haru Kato and that is his number. A co-worker of his was so kind to write that down for me. "
"You're unbelievable!"
I hugged her/ him tightly and laughed loudly.

"And that was my point of view how I met you, my dear Kato."
"Sounds pretty interesting. But you were really red and poor me. You almost tripped over me, drove me over with your cart and overwhelmed me with your questions."
I heard my boyfriend laugh on the other end of the phone.
"When are you coming to Japan again?"
"My dear, I am younger than you and still visit college, but I have holidays in 2 weeks and hopefully we can see each other in that time. "
"That would be great. Ok sweetheart, I need to end this call now. I have work to do. Some thieves ned to be be caught! Hear you later Y/n. I love you!"
With a chuckle I said that I love him back and hung up.
"Wow, three years ago you met each other. I would've never thought that you find a boyfriend in Japan. Let alone that he is a very cute one and you found him in the middle of Tokyo...But what was that with the thieves? Doesn't he work at the Grocery store anymore?"
Bf/n asked with a chuckle while she ate a bit of food.
"He quit his job there and started as a police officer or something like that. But yeah, I never expected that I find a guy like him too..."
