In the audience, many graduates and parents laugh. Mackenzie smiles and lets Edward interlocks his hand with hers.
-When we were ten, they asked again. We answered rock star, cowboy or, in my case, a gold medalist. But now that we've grown up, they want a serious answer. Well, how about this? - Jess stays silent for a moment while smirking. - "Who the hell knows?"
Everybody laughs and starts applauding, proving her right who laughs as well. Mackenzie looks at Bella who's sitting beside her and gives her half a smile.
-This isn't the time to make hard-and-fast decisions. This is the time to make mistakes. Take the wrong train and get stuck somewhere. Fall in love... a lot. - Mack looks at Edwad who looks back and winks at her. - Major in philosophy, because there's no way to make a career out of that. Change your mind, and change it again, because nothing's permanent. So make as many mistakes as you can. That way, someday, when they ask what we want to be, we won't have to guess... We'll know.
Everyone in the audience starts applauding while Jessica smiles, coming down from stage. The Principal starts calling the students by their last names. Mackenzie applauds when Edward, Alice, Jasper, Rosalie and Emmett receive their diplomas.
-Do you think they'll make another graduation cap portrait? - Mack asks Bella, still applauding.
-Most likely, yeah. - The oldest twin jokes. Both sisters laugh and keep applauding while their schoolmates approach the stage.
-Mackenzie and Isabella Swan. - Both twins stand up in unison and start walking towards the dais.
Charlie stands up immediately by seeing how his daughter receive their diplomas. He smiles, feeling amazingly proud of them. Both girls shake hands with the Principal before shaking hands with their teachers.
-It is given to the student Mackenzie Marie Swan the certification for the student of the year with an average of a hundred. - The mentioned one looks at her older sister who smiles proudly.
Mackenzie approaches the Principal once again, receiving the certificate until looking back at the public, finding her father who applauds proudly. The Swan girls get off the stage at the same time, but Mack feels how she's held by the waist. The brown haired girl slightly screams but returns Edward's hug. The guy places his partner down, leaving her in front of him and leaves a small kiss on her lips.
-I'm so proud of you, Love. - The girl smiles and closes her eyes, enjoying his touch on her cheek.
-Mack. - The mentioned one pulls away from Edward to turn around and find her twin who's bby Jacob's side.
Both sisters approach and strongly hug each other with smiles on their faces.
-Congrats, little sis. - Bella says, feeling proud of Mackenzie.
-Thanks, Bella. - Mack whispers before pulling away and looking at Jacob.
-Congrats, little demon. - Jacob mocks. The girl rolls her eyes but hugs him anyway.
-Best student with an average of a hundred. That's my daughter. - Charlie says, approaching his youngest daughter.
Mackenzie strongly hugs her father while closing her eyes. The man kisses her head before pulling away.
-We gotta go to the party. - He tells Bella who nods, smiling.
Mack gets away from them to look at her boyfriend who immediately takes her by the waist and pull her to his chest.
-I will see you at the party, Batman. I'll celebrate a few hours with Bella and my dad. - Edward nods with half a smile. - I love you.
The vampire smiles and starts kissing her. Bella heads to the parking lot along with Charlie and Jacob, letting Mackenzie and Edward finish saying their goodbyes.
-Oh, please. You've been kissing the entire day. - Emmett says with a disgusted face.
Mack, still kissing Edward, shows Emmett the middle finger who's mouth falls, outraged. Alice looks proudly at the girl along with Rosalie.
The night falls, and the Swan girls make their way to the Cullens' house where the graduation party is taking place. Bella is wearing a jean along with a light-blue shirt. Mackenzie wears a sleeveless dress with a flower print she made herself, and combined it with a pair of light-pink heels.
-Mack, Bella! - The mentioned ones look at the dance floor and smile at Angela and Jessica who approach them.
-Hey, guys. - The Swan sisters greet their friends in unison who smile at them.
-What a lovely dress. I love those flowers. - Jessica compliments, analysing Mack's dress.
-Thanks. I did it myself. - Angela and Jessica stare at her, surprised, until smiling.
-What did you think of my speech? Too easy-breezy? Too self-helpful? You hated it? - Jess asks nervously. The twins shake their heads at the same time.
-Of course not, you said what's necessary. - Mackenzie assures, calming her friend down.
-It's like I was born to lead, right? - Jess jokes.
-Girls, I love this song! Let's go. - Angela says excitedly while taking Jessica's hand and run towards the dance floor.
The Swan girls head to another part of the house to get something to drink. They stay silent, looking around until noticing how Jacob, Quil and Embry arrive at the party.
-He's here. - Bella says excitedly, leaving her drink on a table and walking towards Jake.
The guy smiles and takes her by the waist to hug her. They pull away and give each other a small peck. Mackenzie finishes her drink and approaches the boys, feeling Embry's look on her.
-Why are you here? - Mack asks, crossing her arms.
-You invited me, remember? - Embry says, giving her half a smile.
-Was my right hook too subtle fot you? - The brown haired girl asks sarcastically. - That was me uninviting you.
-Mack, I'm sorry. For everything. The kiss, your hand... I'd blame it on the whole inner animal thing, but it was really just me being an ass. - Embry apologises, demomstrating he regret's it.
-Yeah, you really were. - Mackenzie assures, without uncrossing her arms.
-I brought you something. A graduation present. - Embry takes something out of his pocket and gives it to her.
He delicately takes Mack's wrist and starts putting the bracelet on her which has a wooden wolf as a small jewerly.
-I made it myself. - He explains after fastening the bracelet.
-It's really pretty. - Mack admits, admiring the present. - Thanks.
Bella smiles and starts talking to Jacob who took her by the waist after giving her a bracelet as a present. Mack looks away from Embry to look at the staircase from where Alice walks down, but suddenly stops on her tracks.
-I'll be right back. - She says quickly before walking towards Alice.
Bella notices it and asks Jake for a minute before approaching the vampire girl.
-Alice, what'd you see? - Mackenzie asks. The pixie haired vampire looks worriedly at the brown haired girl.
-The decision's been made. - Alice affirms, getting the twins nervous.
-What's going on? - Jacob and Embry ask, arriving to where the girls are.
-You're not going to Seattle. - Mack affirms, noticing Alice's expression.
-No. They're coming here. - The Swan sisters look at each other, frightened after hearing the vampire girl's words.
They all head to the third floor of the house which is empty exceot for the Cullen family members.
-Love. - Edward calls after spotting Mackenzie.
The girl approaches him, letting him take her by the waist while she takes him by the neck, giving him half a smile.
-I'm alright. - She assures before leaving a small kiss on his lips.
-You look beautiful. - The vampire whispers, making her blush.
They all gather in the room and stay quiet, waiting for Alice to start talking.
-They'll be here in four days. - Alice assures while being hugged by Jasper.
Edward gets behind Mackenzie and hugs her by the waist. The girl takes his hands and stays in that position, listening to the coversation.
-This could turn into a bloodbath. - Carlisle assures, lightly shaking his head.
-Who's behind it? - Edward asks after kissing Mack's head.
-I didn't see anyone I recognized in my vision. Maybe one. - Alice says after analysing her vision again. Edward gets tense, making Mackenzie look back at him.
-I know his face. He's local. Riley Biers. - Mack rememebers one of her conversations she had with her father.
-His parents have been searching for him for a long time. He didn't start this. - Mackenzie affirms, looking at everyone.
-Whoever did is staying out fo the action. - Alice says, showing her frustration.
-They're playing with the blind spots in your vision. - Carlisle affirms while crossing his arms.
-Either way, the army is comingand there aren't enough of us to protect the town. - Jasper says seriously, still taking Alice's waist.
-Hold up. What damn army are you talking about? - Jacob asks, confused while taking Bella's waist.
-Newborns. Our kind. - Carlisle explains, looking at the werewolf.
-What are they after? - Embry asks, taking a step forward.
-Riley gave the newborns a clothe of Mackenzie's. I think it was a black dress with white lace. The newborns smelled it to recognize your scent, I suppose. - Alice tells Mack who starts getting angry along with Edward.
-He looked through your stuff. - Edward sneeres, getting tense.
-He took my favourite dress. That dress was the first one I made on my own. - Mack says angrily. - Son of a...
-Mackenzie. - Bella interrupts, looking at her twin who makes a small pout with her lips.
Edward doesn't contain himself and takes Mack's face to kiss her pout.
-They're after Mack. What's the Goddamn purpose? - Embry asks while both Edward and Mackenzie look back at him.
-It'll be a ugly fight. With lives lost. - Carlisle assures, worrying the Swan sisters.
Edward leans down to leave a small kiss on Mack's bare shoulder. The Swans realise how Jacob looks at Embry and Quil.
-All right, we're in. - Embry and Jacob say in unison.
-No. You'd get yourselves killed. - The Swan sisters say at the same time.
-We weren't asking for permission. - Embry and Jake say in unison once again.
-It means more protection for you, Love. - Edward whispers to Mack who starts to slowly shake her head.
-Jacob, do you believe Sam would agree to an understanding? - Carlisle asks the wolf.
-Sure, as long as we get to kill some vampires. - Jake says with half a smile.
-Jasper? - Carlisle asks the blonde boy who looks at Jacob, Embry and Quil.
-They'll give us the numbers. Newborns won't know they even exist. That'll give us an edge. - Jasper replies to his father.
-We'll need to coordinate. - Esme says, standing by her husband's side.
-Doctor... Carlisle. What a custom. - Mackenzie whispers the last part, correcting herself and making the Cullen father give her half a smile. - It's dangerous. You could get killed.
-We'll all need some training. Fighting newborns requires knowledge that Jasper has. You're welcome to join us. - Carlisle tells Jacob.
With one hand, Edward rubs Mack's waist and strokes her hair with the other to try and calm her down. Both Bella and Mackenzie feel how they're calming down bit by bit. They both look at Jasper who gives them half a smile.
-Name the time and place. - Jake asks firmly.
-Jake, you don't know what you're getting yourselves into. - Bella says fearfully, feeling Jasper's gift on her.
-Bella, this is what we do. - Jacob assures, looking at the mentioned one who looks down.
-You should be happy. Look at us. - Embry says, looking at Mack who looks around, realising that everyone's willing to give up their lives for her and her sister. - Working together. You are the one who wanted us to get along.
Everybody agrees so Mackenzie stays silent. The brown haired girl turns around, getting in front of Edward who takes her delicately by the face and gives her half a smile.
-Bella will be okay. - Edward assures.
-I know. They're after me, not her. - Mack simply says, feeling how he gets tense because of her words.
-Nothing will happen to you. Not while we're together. - The girl gives him half a smile and nods, getting closer to him to kiss his lips.
-I'll train with you. - She affirms, but doesn't let him answer given that she kisses him once more. - My dad taught me self defense. I could practice with you for if any emergency happens.
-Mackenzie... - Edward begins to deny it, but she interrupts him, attaching her lips with his once again.
-We won't discuss it, Edward. I will train with you whether you like it or not. - Mack assures, taking him by the neck to kiss him again, preventing him from complaining about their discussion.
Well... today I got back to school. *tries killing herself but remembers how much she loves translating this story*
