Warnings: NONE
----
There seemed to be a difference in his movements. He was a newborn, much faster and much stronger than you were. However, you were older than most, existing when Aro and Marcus were first born. His body seemed to whiz by you as you sat on a branch swinging your legs. Forks, Washington had reached the top of your very extensive list when looking for a place to settle down and start working on your next career.
Just as you had spotted him, he stopped moving and turned in your direction, sniffing the air and alerting the others to your presence. There were three males and two females. The one that caught your attention had golden curls framing his face to expose his features better. He was buff but not as buff as the other male vampire. He looked as if he could take out an entire army by himself. The other male walked with such grace it almost took your breath away. The females were different; a blonde and a brunette, the blonde with stunning features and the brunette was slightly awkward.
The blonde started to snarl in your direction before the buff one silenced her. She would make for a good little pet, you thought. You watched as they approached you, all of them on guard, watching you.
"Hello up there." Said the graceful one.
You smiled and removed yourself from your branch, landing gracefully on your toes as if you had fluttered down.
"Hello," You said, dipping into a curtsey. You were wearing jeans and a leather brown jacket with a white undershirt.
"My name is Edward. This is my family." He introduced you to them, calling their names out one by one. The one that enamored you was Jasper, the buff one was Emmett, and his pet was Rosalie. The lanky, awkward one was Isabella.
"Nice to meet you all. My name is Y/N." You said, giving them a sweet smile.
"What brings you to Forks, Miss Y/N?" Jasper said, leaning his shoulder against a tree, arms crossed in front of his chest.
You shifted on your foot, a human gesture that you had learned while living in the human society, and looked at them individually before answering.
"I'm looking for a place to settle down, and I found this place to my liking so I am scoping it out." You said smiling.
Edward looked at Jasper before looking back at you.
"Oh that's a problem." Emmett said. Edward threw him a nasty look.
You looked at them confused. "Is this area off limits? Hunting grounds?" You asked. You had been around enough vampires in your lifetime to know when an area was off limits due to hunting.
"Not exactly. If you follow me, I can take you to our place where my father can talk to you more about it." Edward said, gesturing you to follow him. Your ears perked at the sound of him talking about his home. It meant that he had settled in here and it was habitable for a vampire to live. You got excited before you realized what that meant for him and his family.
"Okay," You agreed and Edward told the others to continue hunting. You followed Edward back to a large house sitting right outside of town. "What's on the menu?"
Edward looked at you unsure what to say before a handsome looking vampire with blonde hair popped out of the house with a beautiful and solemn woman behind him.
"Carlisle, Esme, this is Y/N. Y/N, these are my parents." Edward said before stepping aside to let his parents get a better look at you.
"Hello, Y/N. It's nice to see another vampire in the area, though we are a little on edge. Of course, I'm sure you are well aware of that." Carlisle said before gesturing towards his home. "Come on in, let's talk."
You followed them inside and sat down on one of the sofas in their very open and wide living room.
"Thank you for being so hospitable towards me. You can't possibly imagine how long it's been since I was welcomed in." You said, watching as Carlisle took the seat across from you with Esme sitting on the arm of the sofa. Edward stood in the doorway, arms folded over his chest.
"Of course. Not all vampires are on the same lifestyle that we are." Esme said, smiling sweetly.
That caught your attention. "Oh? And what lifestyle is that?" You asked.
Carlisle looked to Edward and Edward shook his head. "We are what you would call vegetarian vampires. We only feed on the blood of animals. It is why we are able to settle for so long." Carlisle said, looking at your features.
There was no mistaking that you drank human blood by the crimson color of your eyes, but you never drank directly from humans. You always found organizations that housed blood for donations and took from there.
"Well I assure you that I do not drink directly from humans and I don't think it's ever crossed my mind to drink from animals." You said, further elaborating on how you specifically hunt for your meals. Carlisle was impressed and Esme seemed to relax.
"So what brings you to Forks then?" She asked.
"I've come to take up residence here. I have been dying to settle down for some time now and take my studies back up but haven't found a place that isn't already owned by a clan. I guess I'll have to keep looking." You said defeated.
Edward looked at Carlisle before shaking his head and walking out of the room.
Carlisle stood and walked over to you, sitting next to you. "We would love for you to stay. We are just worried about you being so close to humans, how it would affect us living here." He said.
You sat in thought for a moment before concluding. "Well, how about you teach me how to eat on your diet and I can try and live like you and your family do." You said with a smile.
By that time, the rest of the family had already came back from hunting and were filing in, one by one, into the living room. Jasper took his stance where Edward had previously been.
"I wouldn't mind that. That would most definitely give us a piece of mind. Jasper here is our youngest to turn vegetarian and I'm sure he can show you the ropes." Carlisle said, nodding in his direction.
Jasper turned to you and smiled. "I'd love to teach you."
"Great, I can't wait to start."
-
It had been a month since you started living in Forks, Washington. Everything was going smoothly. Jasper was teaching you how to be a vegetarian while telling you about his stories of his past and how he became a part of the family. Jasper and you had become pretty close and you told him about your many adventures through the decades and how long you've been searching for a place to settle. Things were going smoothly until and unexpected visitor came by.
"Alice?" Jasper said, walking towards her. She had a red tint to her eyes like she had fed on a human just before coming there.
"Who is she?" Alice asked. She was staring at you like your soul was on fire.
Jasper took her by the hand and led her out of the room.
"She disappeared a few years ago, said something about how her past life, from when she was human, was haunting her and she needed to go." Rosalie said, huffing before returning to what she had been doing. "She used to be Jasper's mate."
"Used to be? Isn't there no going back once you guys become mates?" You asked.
Rosalie shrugged. "Turns out they never were mates and she found one a year after she had left. She called saying that she was going to convince him to join our family but never came back."
You thought about it for awhile. "I guess Jasper never got over her." You shrugged. Your infatuation with him grew stronger with each passing moment you spent with him.
"Yeah, he was really beat up about it. It took him months to finally feed." Emmett said, coming up behind Rosalie and wrapping his arms around her.
You watched as Jasper tried to quiet Alice and ask her what was wrong. Alice kept mentioning someone was out to get her and that she had been changed because of this person and that it was so hard to control her thirst nowadays. You watched as her eyes flitted wildly around and knew that she was hungry.
You left the Cullen house and drove to the hospital where Carlisle had been working.
"Y/N, what brings you hear?" He asked upon seeing you.
"We need to talk."
After you told him what was going on back at the house, he agreed to your plan and before you knew it, you were driving back to the Cullen house. Upon entering, you found that Alice was sitting in the living room on the floor rocking back and forth; Jasper was sitting in front of her trying to calm her down.
"Alice," You said, handing her a bag of blood that you and Carlisle had confiscated from the hospital. "Drink this. It will help."
Alice looked up at you before snatching the bag and biting into it. Draining the contents and tossing the bag to the side. Her head fell backwards as she came back to her senses, slowly but surely.
"Thank you." She mumbled before getting up and walking out of the room. Jasper stood up to follow, giving your arm a squeeze before leaving.
You put the extra packs in the fridge and went up to the spare room they had let you use while you looked for a place to stay. It was getting dark and you had a lot of studying to do.
-
After several hours, the sun started to rise and you realized that you had been working extremely hard, going through several books and ended up writing hundreds of pages on your laptop. You made your way downstairs.
"Well look who's come to join the party." Emmett said, sitting on the couch, a game controller in his hand. Rosalie was sitting next to him, reading a book. Edward and Esme were in deep conversation in the other room and you could tell that Esme was very worried about Alice.
"Where is everyone?" You asked, sitting on the sofa across from them.
"Carlisle is at the hospital and Jasper and Alice went driving. I think he took her across the border to get her away for a little." Rosalie said. You shifted uncomfortably thinking about Jasper being so far away from you.
"Don't worry. It's for the best." Edward said, walking in. "It keeps her away from getting any of us into trouble."
You nodded in understanding. It might be easy for you to resist drinking straight from a human but Alice had been shown a life she had not known and it was difficult for her. You felt pity for her.
You stood by the window for what seemed like hours before you heard the sound a car coming up the driveway. Instantly, you and the rest of the Cullen family were standing outside watching as Jaspers car pulled up in front of you.
Alice was not in the car.
"Where is she?" Edward asked as Jasper came out of the car.
He walked over to you, taking your hand and looked at Edward. "She's fine. I found a clan not far from here who is willing to watch over her for now. She's starting to regain her strength but she won't be coming back for a while." He said looking down at you. A wave of sweet emotion washed over your body before he took you through the woods, running as fast as you both could.
When you had stopped running, Jasper pulled you into an embrace, shocking you.
"Jasper, are you alright?" You asked him, holding onto him tightly. You forgot how much you missed his presence even if he had been gone for only a few hours. Was this jealousy?
You felt his arms tighten around you before he let you go. "Yes ma'am. I'm sorry if I worried you any." He said, taking your hand and leading you towards a fallen tree.
You were still confused but didn't object. It was comforting to know that Jasper was there with you.
"When I was taking Alice to the clan across the border, she was telling me about you. She said she saw you in a vision." Jasper said speaking out in the open. His eyes focused on some distant object.
"She also said that her visions were of both of us and that I would come to love you." He looked at you before looking back into the distance.
You didn't know what to say, all you could do was stare at him.
"Do you love me?" You finally asked. You knew that you had felt feelings for him this entire time but it was foreign to you. Love wasn't something you had felt in a long time, since you were human.
He looked at you and smiled. "I think I do."
You returned his smile before leaning in and kissing him. His cool lips against yours sent sparks through your body. "Whoa." You said.
"Whoa is right." He said, pushing a strand of hair behind your ear.
