We made it to Camilo's door and he opened the door quickly before pulling me towards his bed. He let go of my hand and he flopped onto his bed, face first into the bedsheets.
"Camilo, you should take off some of the accessories on your outfit" I said, unclipping the cape from my vest.
"Right," Camilo agreed, taking off his yellow blazer and throwing it over my head "Hang this up for me!"
I picked up his blazer and threw it back at him, causing him to yelp.
"Ay!" Camilo screeched "That's rude!"
I laughed a little bit before gently pulling the blazer off of his face. I positioned him softly so that he was sitting up, his back resting on the plush pillows on his bed. He stayed mostly still and moved where I told him to, which I appreciated. Slowly, I let myself lie on top of him, making sure to be careful so I didn't hurt him under my weight. I rested my head comfortably on his chest, sighing as I did.
Camilo was nervous and didn't really know what to do with himself, at the moment, he was acting as more of a pillow than a person that I was cuddling with. I didn't blame him of course, the last time we cuddled, I was the one in his position. His arms carefully snaked around my waist and his hands rested on my back.
I squeezed him softly in a response. He chuckled softly above me and hugged me back.
"I love this" Camilo sighed, his eyes slightly hazy "I love you."
"I love you too, Camilo," I said hesitantly, earning me a satisfied hum from Camilo.
The hesitation came from the realization that I was actually allowed to say that to him without it being weird. It's not that I wasn't sure whether or not I loved him, I had a shocking epiphany during the party.
'Shit, the party' I thought.
I pushed myself off of Camilo's chest slightly so that I could look him in the eye.
"Huh?" Camilo said "Y/n, is something wrong?"
"Our friends..." I muttered "We left them at the party!"
"With Hugo..." Camilo replied softly.
"Should we go back and check on them?" I asked, the worried tone in my voice extremely obvious.
"The party's probably already over by now" Camilo answered "Everyone's already home by now. Besides, a bunch of mi familia (my family) were at the party, I'm sure they took care of...Hugo."
I hesitantly let myself lie back on top of Camilo.
"Are you sure?" I repeated.
"Of course!" Camilo replied cheerfully "I'm sure everyone will be back here soon."
Just then, we heard the rumble of many footsteps from outside. People were entering the house. I groaned as I sat up and hopped off of the bed. I opened Camilo's door and peered over the railing to see Dolores whispering to Mirabel and Isabela while Miguel and Adriana waved up towards me. I waved back before watching them move towards Mirabel and Isabela and joining them in giggling at whatever Dolores was talking about.
"Yo, Y/n!" Miguel called from downstairs "If you and Camilo are done cuddling and shit, you can join us for some late dinner!"
I sighed before making my way back to Camilo's bed, where the shapeshifter himself was sitting patiently.
"What's going on?" Camilo asked as I sat on the edge of his bed.
"I'm pretty sure Dolores is catching everyone up on us," I replied.
"Oh, she definitely is," Camilo said. "I'm sure, I know her."
"I trust you" I said, giggling softly "They invited us to join them for a late dinner, should we?"
"I could eat," Camilo replied casually.
The two of us stood up and Camilo took my hand in his. We made our way to the dining area, grabbing some utensils and plates before going there. We got some cheeky stares as we entered the room. Camilo and I decided to sit across from each other instead of right next to each other, just to avoid some teasing.
"I've got fooood!" Mirabel said in a sing-songy manner upon entering the room.
She set the dish in the middle of where all of us were sitting before taking her seat at the end of the table, right under the family tree. All of us passed around the food, putting as much as we needed on our plate before passing it over to the next person. Camilo got a bit more than he needed, as usual, which earned him a scowl from Isabela, who was the person he passed to.
For a while, we ate without any words between us. The only sound was quiet chewing and the occasional fork clicking against a plate. That is until Miguel started to talk.
"So..." he began "You and...him, huh?"
I swallowed the food that I had in my mouth.
"Uhm...Can we not make a big deal out of it?" I asked "We haven't really decided how to move forward from here ourselves."
"We haven't?" Camilo asked, butting in "Sorry, I kind of just assumed that we would...be together now, right?"
"I mean, if you want to, we can," I replied, staring at him.
"Of course I do but do you?" Camilo asked "I don't want you to feel forced just because I want to."
"Well, yeah I want to but-" I managed to spit out before Adriana interrupted.
"You two can discuss that later, yeah?" she said, clearly annoyed "I want to be able to eat without being reminded of relationships as a whole right now, okay?"
Miguel, who was sitting right next to her, put a hand on Adriana's shoulder.
"Are you okay?" he asked softly.
"I'm fine, Miguel," Adriana answered bitterly, pulling her shoulder away from his hand. "I just...Ugh, today's been rough without Blanca."
"I get that," Miguel replied, a smile on his face, which was a rare sight to see. "We can talk about it later if you want..."
Adriana physically paused, thinking about Miguel's offer.
"Yeah..." she answered "Later."
The conversation and all of us went back to eating. Then Bruno walked into the room, knocking on the wood of the door frame before entering.
"Hey kids!" He greeted us cheerfully, "How was the dance?"
"It was-" Mirabel began.
"Exhausting," Isabela said, finishing her sentence for her.
"Isabela!" Mirabel exclaimed before sighing and regaining her composure "It was fun, Tio! Camilo and Y/n danced together!"
"I heard a lot about what Camilo and Y/n did, kid" Bruno replied.
My face heated up and I turned to Camilo, who was staring at his food wide eyed, trying not to make eye contact with anyone.
"What do you know?" I asked.
"Ah, sorry Y/n" Bruno said, turning towards me "Dolores is only good at keeping secrets when she wants to be."
Camilo groaned loudly.
"Dolores!" Camilo said through gritted teeth, intentionally scratching his fork against his plate.
"Camilo!" Dolores called from the other room "Stop it! I'll tell mami!"
Camilo stopped with a reluctant huff. He was pouting and had crossed his arms after pushing his plate away. I guess he lost his appetite for now.
"I uh, also heard about some kid named Hugo?" Bruno said, the mention of the name making Camilo tense up a bit "Did you guys take care of him?"
"I managed to get Ruben and Hugo to stop attacking each other like wild animals" Isabela said "Then I made sure that the Hugo boy went home and I had some other kid named Emilio take Ruben home."
I sighed in relief. Thank goodness that they were taken away from the dance and each other. I didn't want the dance to be ruined for everyone else at the party.
"Thank you, Isabela," I said, smiling at her.
"Of course!" Isabela replied cheerfully.
"Hah, I'll leave you guys alone" Bruno said "It's getting kinda late."
"He's right you guys" Mirabel agreed. "Finish up your food and then head to your rooms, all of us need some sleep."
All of us nodded and finished our food, placing our plates and cutlery on top of the kitchen counter and letting Casita take them to the sink.
Camilo and I made our way upstairs holding hands. He looked stressed. I guess it made sense that he was, there was the whole thing with Hugo and poor Ruben had to go home early. As we made it to my door, I put my hand on his shoulder and smiled at him. He shot me a sweet smile back that made my heart flutter.
"Are you okay, Cami?" I asked.
"Of course," Camilo replied "I just need some sleep and time to think."
I nodded to show him that I understood.
"I had a good time today" I said, noticing that our hands were still joined.
"I did too" Camilo said "About our conversation about...us. Can we postpone that to tomorrow?"
"Sure" I replied, opening my door and stepping inside my room.
"Goodnight, mi vida," Camilo said.
The nickname still needed some getting used to but it was still very sweet. I kind of liked that he used the same nickname that his father called his mother, it's obvious that he idolizes his parents' relationship so it was some sort of honour to use the same pet name.
I leaned towards him, causing him to freeze up. I tilted my head slightly and placed a soft kiss on his cheek.
"Goodnight Cami," I said softly as I moved back inside my room.
"Goodnight, my vida" Camilo replied, touching the place that I had kissed.
I closed the door softly with a soft smile on my face that I couldn't seem to make go away. As I laid down on my bed, I smiled as I stared blankly at the ceiling, thinking about all of today's events. I think today might've been one of the best days of my life.
