Narumi stands before the class in a white suit, smiling for this day. Behind him on the chalkboard is written, 'Lesson on Memories'.
"So today... Will be Sakura Mikan-Chan's last lesson with us. I am very grateful that everyone is sharing a very deep bond and friendship with her as we come here today." Narumi beams at the students that have all gathered. "Now, even though this is called a lesson, don't think of it as something formal. Let us all share with one another the days that we spent together with Mikan-Chan, and think of all the fun memories we had."
All of the students of class B are in their seats, listening to Narumi. Scattered around the room stands all the people who Mikan had touched the hearts of. The crowd ranged from Tsubasa and Tono, to Jinno and Shiki as well as other teachers. Even Sakurano and other members of the special class.
"Alright, so one by one. Let's remember the first day Mikan-Chan came to the academy!" Narumi announces, eyes glancing up to the ceiling as he recalls the day. "Let's see... that was... around the start of September, the weather was still hot... that was around the end of summer."
The ceiling suddenly opens up at the front of the room and a screen lowers from the ceiling, everyone's eyes darting to it. On it plays Narumi's first memory with Mikan when he had whipped Natsume with the Bean whip. On screen, glitter surrounds Narumi's joyous face as he elegantly sent Natsume flying through the air with a terrified Mikan in the background.
"Huh-!" Narumi tries laughing off the scene, instantly grabbing a remote and pausing it. Everyone glares at the man, especially Natsume who was the 'victim' in that scenario.
"I was about to talk about how I first met Mikan but for some reason my bean whip fighters pose got shown on tv!" He sweats nervously as Misaki-Sensei burns holes into the man's head. That was the day he chased Narumi around for breaking into his greenhouse and stealing the bean whip.
"Naru..." Misaki growls as he takes hold of his own bean whip, a murderous intent filling his eyes.
Narumi smiles and holds hands with Mikan, chuckling, "I'm sorry! I was surprised!" He apologizes as Mikan glances at the vine now wrapping around Narumi's torso.
"But you're being tied up. Are you alright?" The brunette smiles back, matching Narumi's energy. Behind the two, Koko and Kitsuneme shout at their teacher, telling him that he should step down from teaching the lesson. "Tie him up and pull him out!" Koko hollers.
Misaki reluctantly releases Narumi from his bean whips trap and instead watches how the man interacts with the small Sakura. Seeing how Narumi acted when he was Mikan... it gave Misaki a strange feeling within his chest. Narumi had a certain relationship with Mikan that helped heal his heart. Narumi's frozen heart was thawed out by his love, Yuka before being severely damaged when she left him. When Yuka left, Narumi set up a cage around himself.
The one who began revealing the beauty of the world outside of his cage, in Misaki's eyes, was Akako. Of course, Narumi didn't know that Akako was the child of Yuka and Sensei even though she was a carbon copy of Yuka with different hair and eyes. As soon as Akako had came to the school, Narumi slowly started taking notice of the light from within his cage. And that incident with Jinno when she wasn't electrocuted turned his eyes from the darkness that overwhelmed him in his confinement. No one had any idea who Akako's parents were or what her background was since she was with those Alice protectors when they first found her so Narumi never got his hopes up. Yet it was Mikan who burst through the door and happened to yank Narumi out to join everyone else. She held him by the hand and brought him out into the light and showed him how to open himself once again.
Misaki was weary of Narumi bringing Mikan to the academy because he feared that Narumi was doing it for himself, which he was. He wanted that feeling he had with Yuka and Sensei once more and having their two children brought those memories back.
Now, Misaki-Sensei can confidently say that it was the right decision. Narumi bringing Mikan to Gakuen Alice was the small seed that needed to be planted in order for everything to unfold as it has. Now, the academy was rid of the dark grip that the Elementary Principal held on it- all because Narumi was selfish.
Mikan brought a light into the academy that started the snowball rolling towards the revolution that everyone sought for.
"Why don't we start with Iinchō!" Narumi suddenly suggests, startling the young boy. He was rather surprised to be out on the spot like that but racks his brain, nonetheless, for a specific memory with Mikan.
"I.. was really happy that Mikan-Chan came to this academy..." Yuu smiles down to the ground, "all of my memories with Mikan-Chan are memorable, so it's difficult to chose just one... Mikan-Chan always wants to give me strength even just by being there. In difficult times, in sad times, Mikan-Chan's feelings reach us so those times ended up being 'happy' times."
Mikan can only stare at her friend as his words bring forth an ache in her chest.
"If I had to chose just one memory from my memories with her, that would be when I lost my Alice. What Mikan-Chan and everyone did for me..." Yuu raises a hand to his chest as he recalls when Yuka stood his Alice. Mikan and the others all left the school to retrieve it just for him. "Because of that time that I lost my Alice, I understand very well how Mikan-Chan must be feeling right now. That's why I want to be her strength right now. I will never forget that memory. It's because if Mikan-Chan that I am who I am today!" Yuu finally looks up, locking eyes with a now teary-eyed Mikan.
His words warmed Mikan's heart. Now that Yuu mentioned it, Mikan only ever fought for everyone else. That's why all of them worked so hard for her in turn, because she had only ever done the same since arriving at the academy.
"Ah yeah... at that time, us teachers were very angry with those that went to such dangerous lengths and the others who instigated it."
Arrows fly towards a group if certain people when they hear those words. The arrows poke Tono in the shoulder and Tsubasa in the heart, while Natsume, Ruka, and Mikan are also attacked by their own arrows.
Although, as the time is brought up, a small frown rush at Tsubasa's lips as he stares into space. "It was at that time, that's right..." he catches the attention of Misaki and Tono, who both turn towards their friend. "We all snuck out of the academy to pursue Z. When we camped in the forest... that's when I learned just how bad Natsume's and Akako's conditions were." Tsubasa mumbles.
He can easily recall when he found Akako by the lake that night, blood being coughed up by the young girl. Despite her condition, Akako had hurriedly encouraged that the both of them return to the camp to protect the others and watch over them- completely dismissing her well-being. She had fallen asleep pleading her Senpai not to worry about her. Later that night, he witnessed a cannily similar scene with Natsume and the boy also told Tsubasa not to tell anyone.
For as long as Tsubasa could remember, those two pushed their own good aside for the sake of others.
"After that, Natsume, Mikan.. and Ruka-pyon, I started to see them as my little siblings too." Tsubasa says, bringing a frown to Misaki's face. "I have known Akako for years.... So why didn't I see any of that before then? Why couldn't I save her?" His chest starts twisting as he blinks away the burning in his eyes. "I... I was never able to protect them." Tsubasa drops his face to the ground, those around him staying quiet as they try to decide on the best course of action to comfort the boy.
A hand lands on Tsubasa's head. He doesn't raise his face but knows exactly who is by his side.
"Didn't you?" Tono questions, "You're just a middle school kid. You're not almighty like God or anything but you... did your best. You were always their number one ally, no questions asked."
And that was true. Anytime any of them were in a bind, Tsubasa was always who they went to. Tsubasa was always there to be their support, even when they didn't ask for it, he was just there.
"If you don't know how much strength you gave them, just look at their smiling faces right now. That is all you need for your answer."
A big part of Tsubasa felt some comfort in his words but... a part of him didn't. Because there was a face that was missing, one that he loved very dearly. Although today was about everyone reminiscing on their memories with Mikan, it was hard for Tsubasa. He had known Akako since the year she got to the academy,
she was his little sister that grew up always sticking to his side. He watched her grow so it was hard for him to completely erase the girl from his thoughts.
But the lesson went on. Everyone started talking about all of their memories with Mikan. Nonoko recalled the time when Mikan encouraged everyone to play dodgeball, even getting Natsume involved and uniting the class. As everyone recalls the memory, a grand grin spreads across Mikan's face as she remembers how she did that.
"Actually, it was Tsubasa-Senpai's idea! I was so strained by the tense atmosphere in the class. He said if I wanted you to look my way, I could do something about it! Hotaru, Senpai, and everyone would all support me and help me out, so I always had the strength to keep smiling!" Tsubasa wanted to tear up at the words Mikan spoke. He had truly been a help when he didn't really realize it. "My energy is the fortune I received from everyone! I want to thank everyone too!"
Narumi brings up the mention of the Alice festival, causing all of the S.A. Students that were present to perk up as they recall how Mikan was the one to suggest the RPG, everyone remembers all of the smiles and laughs they had that day, realizing how much they missed out on by not participating before.
Memories flash through Mikan's mind of Tsubasa and Misaki smiling at her in their genie costumes while Akako hugs her arm. The memory caused a sort of sad joy to fill Mikan's heart for a moment.
Nevertheless, she smiles along with her senpais as the remember the day as well, "It was a really unforgettable day! It was so much fun!" Their pure smiles tug at Narumi's being.
"It looks like a lot of students unforgettable memories with Mikan are from the Culture Festival!" He smiles but his whole body turns white when Koko and Kitsuneme raise their hands and shout.
"Yes~! I can't forget Mikan's belly-button-exposed costume!" Koko raises his hand as Kitsuneme floats up behind his best friend, "I can't forget Mikan dressing up as a boy while Ruka-Pyon dressed as a pretty girl!"
Kitsuneme then holds up a photo that Hotaru had taken of Ruka while he was dressed in his Snow White outfit. The photo is instantly burned to ashes, Natsume frowning and glaring at them as Ruka sulks in the background from pure embarrassment.
More and more memories are shared as everyone recalls their time with Mikan, everyone eventually landing on the concept of Mikan's awful, sickeningly nasty chocolates that Natsume tried after deciding to since he considered Mikan a friend. To him, Akako's were fine while he got a stomach ache from the brunettes so he had stolen Ruka's and thrown them into a fire to save his best friend from dying.
This information was shared by Koko since he read Natsume's mind and knew everything. Mikan cries and hangs on Natsume's sleeve, "Natsume, how could you throw them?! Akako loved them and said they were good!" She exclaims in her defense while Natsume shakes her off.
"Actually," the mind reading antenna puts in his two sense once again, "Akako became sick from the chocolate also."
Mikan's body fades away into dust while Iinchō rushes to the girls side, "Mikan-Chan! Don't erode away!" His hands wave around as he nervously sweats.
"Akako-Chan is too sweet!" Anna chuckles before quickly covering her mouth.
Everyone had eventually brought the blonde into the conversation and didn't know how to react. Mikan, who was the one to do so, takes notice of everyone's sudden tenseness and smiles at them, "She really is, huh?! Akako-Chan has a lot of good memories with everyone too! We shouldn't exclude her just because she isn't with us right now, don't forget about your times with her either!"
Natsume lowers his head along with Ruka when Mikan says that. After all, she was their best friend and they had years of memories with the girl. It would indeed be hard to forget about those memories when she was so engraved into each one.
"I think Mikan's cooking is definitely genetic."
Mikan turns around and is surprised to see Shiki along with her uncle who have entered the classroom. Shiki then proceeds to tell everyone how Yuka couldn't cook to save her life and the food always had such a horrid taste.
"If Yukihira-Sensei we're alive, he would be living in hell if he was surrounded by Mikan and Yuka's cooking." Shiki empathizes with the man. The high school principal nods in agreement, "Him and Akako would probably need to sneak off to make some food for themselves."
Tears fill Mikan's eyes as she shouts at the middle school principal, "I want nice memories! Don't speak so frankly!" She scolds them.
"Speaking of valentine memories," tears fill Tsubasa's eyes as his stomach aches from laughing too hard, "Who can forget Tono's pig nose?!" He cackles, raising up a newspaper article with the photos from Valentine's Day.
"You bastard! Burn that thing and throw it away!" Tono lunges Tsubasa. Koko steals the newspaper and smiles down at it, "It had everything from that day!" Koko exclaims, holding it up for others to see, "Even Natsume clinging to-!"
The paper burns in his hand and Natsume is quick to look over Koko and Kitsuneme who was at his side. He glares down at them with a giant red mallet in his hand before swiftly taking off after the boys.
All kinds of laughter and shouting fill the room. This won't end when Mikan leaves, everyone will still be crazy but it will never be the same like this again. So everyone relished in this last lesson with their beloved friend.
