Kaylan POV

"Where we going?" Roddy asked as I was in the car with him, driving.

"I gotta stop by Compton High School." I said.

"Why?" He asked.

"Dallas' kids go here. Well, his daughter does." I said.

"Who's Dallas?" Roddy asked.

"My mom's trifling boyfriend." I said.

"Ohhh, you tryna get info on this nigga" He said finally putting the pieces together.

"Yes because something about him just don't sit well with me at all." I said.

"I feel you, I got you." Roddy said as I pulled up to the school.

"You know his daughter's name?" He asked.

"Yeah, Khaleya." I said.

"Aight coo" Roddy said. "You can stay in the car if you-"

"Nah I'ma go wit you, make sure you straight." He said, I smiled a little and said "Okay."

We both got out the car together and walked inside the school.

"I'm surprised ain't no security here no more." Roddy said.

"Yeah I know, when I went here they used to have security at the front all the time." I said.

"Aye you went here? So did I" Roddy said.

"How come I never seen you?" I asked.

"Maybe we have but never paid attention. Plus I'm 21, you're 20. I was a grade older so" He said shrugging.

"True. That's probably why" I said chuckling.

"Aye do you know a Khaleya Jones?" I asked a girl that looked around her age.

"No" She said.

We nodded our heads and walked to a young man, and asked him the same question.

"You know a Khaleya Jones?" I asked. "Yeah that's my best friend." He said.

"We ain't here for no weird shit, she knows I'm coming. I just don't know where she's at" I said.

"She's on her way to me right now, it's all good." He said.

"What's yo name lil homie" Roddy said reaching his hand out.

"Jonathan" He said shaking Roddy's hand.

"Good lookin, we appreciate it" Roddy said.

"No problem, oh there she is" He said as Khaleya walked towards us, she went to Jonathan and sat on his lap. Me and Roddy looked at each other and chuckled a little.

Best friends my ass. We all know those kind of best friends.

"Hey Khaleya, it's me Kaylan." I said.

"Oh shit! For real? Hey!" She said standing up and giving me a hug.

"Hey, I should've sent you a picture or something but yeah. Thanks for agreeing to meet with me." I said.

"No problem" She said.

"This is my friend, Roddy." I said introducing them.
