More pain

I kept looking around and I saw him watching TV with the rest of his cousins. I smiled, happy he was finally not constantly asking my permission to leave me but at the same time I was sad because I had no one's hand to squeeze.

I started to feel the burning on my leg from the alcohol, I hissed from the pain it caused. I refused to cry in front of this man but boy did I want to.

I desperately kept looking over at Luke hoping he'd realize I wasn't talking to his mom anymore but he didn't turn his attention away. In fact, he just moved to get more comfortable on the couch, but I wasn't mad even though it seemed like I was. I was super happy he was finally getting his family time.

"Ok pull up your sleeve," His uncle said interrupting me from my thoughts

"Oh how fun," I said sarcastically rolling the sleeve up

I decided that maybe if I found some humor in it I could try and ignore the pain,

"Where's Luke?" He asked obviously seeing I was about to cry

"Um I think he's watching TV," I responded trying to act as if it wasn't a big deal

"Ah I was almost certain he would be glued to your side," He commented

"No, I'm glad he's finally spending time with his cousins," I said trying to convince myself I didn't need him

"I like that," He said cleaning my cut

The pain was becoming unbearable, it was worse than earlier and my body wasn't going numb to the feeling.

"How does it feel?" He asked

"It hurts super bad," I gritted through my teeth

"Worse than earlier?"

I nodded

"hmm, that's odd,"

Once he finished he let me go back inside, I was burning and stinging.

I rushed up the stairs and shoved my face into the pillow screaming and crying.

"Dakota, are you good?" A voice asked from the doorway

"I'm good," I said from the pillow

"Why are you crying?"

"My leg f-feels like it's on fire,"

I turned around because I knew it wasn't Luke, but it was Hunter.

"Where's Luke?"

"Downstairs I think," I said actually not knowing

"Do you want me to get him?" He asked

"No, let him have fun,"

"Are you sure,"

"I'm sure,"

I turned back into the pillow and cried some more, my leg was throbbing and I just was not having a fun time.

-Hunters POV-

I could tell Dakota was in so much pain, I honestly felt so bad for her. I knew that she wanted Luke to spend time with his cousins but at the same time, I knew she needed Luke right now. I went downstairs where the boys were and I saw Luke going crazy over the boxing match with the rest of the boys.

"Luke," I said walking into the room

"Wassup,"

"Do you know where Dakota or Brook is," I said trying not to overwhelm him with anything

"Um I think Dakota's talking to my mom and I think Brook is asleep," He replied not looking at me, all his attention was on the screen

"Bruh you've been down here for like 30 minutes Dakota is upstairs crying," I said
