She

You told her, she was to weak
But oh, please!
She sat in hell and burned with your memories
Each day she craved her name into the center piece
You told her she'd never make it
You said she'd drown in doubt
Yet she rose above the white caps in the waters
She learned how to thrive
Because she knew if you didn't adjust to change you would die
Either you are with the program of life or you fall behind
You told her a lot of things
But never the things she needed to hear
Luckily she was never one to lend a ear to the ones who would bring you down
She was stronger than the sound
You told her she was nothing
Yet she turned and smiled
The sound of her silence spoke
She knew the way to go
From all this she would grow
Tension was building among the eye of the critics
Yet she could only smile and watch herself succeed
No one can hold you down if you don't let it be
