Silence

I beckoned to silence and she spoke
Wrapped and twisted in ropes she appeared to me
She told me she was heard
How can you be heard?, I asked with doubt
For you are silence
She showed me tears, shrugs of shoulders, and an nonexistent reply
I stood perturbed
Not understanding a word
She shook her head
Not a word was spoken
Then my understanding came as a dawn
Silence spoke many volumes of unspoken words
She is heard in gestures
She is heard in the tears
Even in the ones we hold most dear
Silence speaks louder than any word,
yet she says not a thing
Silence is an action
A reaction to things
