Speak

The words I don't speak are a snake coiling around me. Sometimes it's so hard to breath when I think about me.
Sometimes I break down and cry, but pretend to be happy on the outside.

They tell us not to speak,
to be quiet because the world doesn't want to hear.
They tell us that what we've been through is nothing when it's a universe of tears.
Our very own hell that we aren't supposed to share.

That our scars are not meant to be seen, and that's why I say share them, share the pain, the desperation, and fear.
Remove the tape covering your mouth and speak.
Let it all out.
It isn't fair to ask us to carry this burden alone,
so, I say pick up the other man and help him walk.

It's time to speak.
It's time to speak life.
Use them use those words and don't fear. People who care are here and were placed on this earth to help the broken.

So,speak and let it bleed out like a battle wound.
We will be here telling our stories,
so, join us on this journey of ripping away the bandage.
It's time to speak and let the earth cry.
