Prologue

Lillian Kintanara, of Kintanara Manor, Wiltshire, England, was playing outside by herself on December 19th, her 11th birthday. Her best friend lived down the road, but her father wouldn't let her come outside. Lillian's best friend was named Lindsay Malfoy. Her father, Lucius Malfoy. They were pure-bloods, but so were the Kintanara's, distant relatives to the Malfoys.

The sun was shining off of the snow. Christmas was coming soon. There were no neighborhood children with which Lillian could play. She sat in the snow making snowballs for no reason. Suddenly, a snow-white owl flew down to meet her. She landed on the snow in front of Lillian and gently handed her a letter.

"Thank you." Lillian whispered as she patted the owl and took the letter. The owl nipped her finger lovingly and flew away.

Lillian sat, staring at the envelope, afraid to open it. It was a weird envelope made of heavy, yellow parchment with emerald green ink on the front. The letter was addressed to her:

          Ms. L. Kintanara

          The Warm, Third Floor Bedroom

          Kintanara Manor

          Wiltshire, England

No one ever wrote her letters. Her shock was quickly replaced with excitement and curiosity as she tore the letter open. She silently read the parchment:
