Chemical engineer, physician and astronaut. Mae Jemison graduated from Stanford University with a chemical in degree and a degree in African and African American studies.

Later she graduated from Cornell university with a medical degree. Jemison then went on 2 work 4 the peace corps as a doctor in Liberia and Sierra Leone 1983-5. She then left the peace corps and applied at NASA in order 2 become an astronaut becoming 1 in 1987.

In 1992 she was selected for mission STS-47 On the space shuttle Endeavour. September 12-20 she would be in orbit as a mission specialist making her the first black woman ever in space. She left NASA in 1993 and formed a technology research company.

She is in the National Women's Hall of Fame and The International Space Hall of Fame. A fine example of black exceptionalism definitely a role model 4 all but especially your black girls.
