I Had To Believe Him

I slowly opened my eyes and felt my throat was parched. The room was quiet save for the hum of the air-conditioning unit and Kaname's soft snores. The only thing illuminating, if you could even call it that, the room was what little light managed to peep through the curtains of the balcony door. I touched my throat and cleared it a bit, I was very thirsty. After gently removing myself from the embrace of the man beside me, I got up to pour myself a glass of water... And two more.

Once my thirst was quenched, I went to the bathroom to address another pressing need. I didn't know whether I should laugh or cry when I saw my ripped dress and the scattered pieces of rhinestones that once served as its straps. It was a beautiful dress and I would have wanted to wear it again... But its unfortunate remains were now lying on the marble floor next to the tub that was still filled with soapy and petal-filled water. With a sad frown, I picked them up then drained the tub before finally sitting on the porcelain throne to relieve myself.

After finishing my business, I washed my hands. It was impossible for me to not catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror as I did so. My hands paused for a bit when I saw the naked and obviously still sleepy woman that was my reflection. There were countless love bites on my chest, the valley between my breasts, down to my belly. My husband sure wasn't kidding when he said he was going to thoroughly enjoy himself tonight. He sucked me dry until I had to tap out. Yes, homegirl had quite a night, I thought to myself.

On my way back to the bed, I stepped on Kaname's belt and nearly tripped on one of his shoes. I picked them up as well as the rest of his clothes. I searched for the nearest light switch to see better then dumped his clothes on the coffee table. I smiled when I saw the black silver-lined box that was sitting next to his shirt. It contained a tea set and was a gift from the girl whom I assume Charles was still in the process of getting to know, I think her name was Suzanne if I remembered correctly. Turns out it was really him that I saw earlier; apparently, he was helping his father prepare his almost-ruined surprise. My smile widened as I recalled the day's events...

At the lobby, David told us that everything was ready. We boarded a van and the driver drove us to a famous scenic spot in the area for a postnuptial shoot. This was Charles' idea and personal gift to us. He hired a reputable photography team as well as two hair and makeup artists. The theme was reminiscent of our time in Gunma where I first suspected I was pregnant with the twins, learned how to ride a horse, and rediscovered my burning desire for Kaname after childbirth. Through the shoot's course, I had a total of five outfit changes and so did Kaname. I learned that Nate had to disappear briefly so Marina could help with choosing the pieces we wore.

Mum was also in on the surprise because it was her who shouldered the wonderful lunch we had by the lake. And the chocolate cake we had for dessert come dinner? It was "from" Pan-pan, as evidenced by the paw prints that decorated the cake's edges.

I think my smile never disappeared from the time I slipped into my now ruined dress up until to when we returned to the suite. I was so genuinely happy, I never thought my day would turn out this way. I mean, I woke up pissed off for not getting what I wanted the previous night after all. I giggled at how silly I was.

"Mahal?" came my husband's groggy voice. "Where are you?"

I hurried back to the bedroom and saw him rubbing his eyes sleepily, the lampshade next to him turned on.

"Where did you go?" he asked while pulling me close.

"My thirst woke me," I explained, rubbing my nose with his in the process.

"Mmm," he nodded.

"Thanks for yesterday," I murmured. "You really know how to make me happy."

"Of course, nobody knows you the way I do," he kissed my forehead before pressing me underneath him. "And as your husband, it is my duty to make you happy."

I giggled again. "Happy wife, happy life."

"Exactly," he chuckled. "I can't wait to see the photos."

"So do I."

"Let's choose the best one and hang it up on the bedroom wall. I want to have it blown up to the size of the bathroom window back at home."

"Funny, I have the same idea!"

Kaname didn't say anything and just stared at me lovingly. I caressed his cheek as I returned his warm gaze.

"Mahal, I love you," he whispered, breaking the silence. "I wish I have the words to describe how I'm feeling right now but I can't... Thank you for coming into my life. I love you with my entire being."

"I know," I smiled, I was smiling nonstop today. "And I feel the same way."

I felt his hand on my belly; while stroking my skin there, he asked, "The only thing missing are the twins. Everything will be complete the moment we have them."

"Anata, I... Actually, I'm afraid..."

"Of what?"

"What if... What if we never have them? What if they—"

"Nonsense," he sealed my lips with his. "Riku is here. I am here. How could they possibly not join us?"

"But it's been months and I'm still not pregnant," I voiced out my worry. "Back in the ooku, I got pregnant right away but now..."

"We'll keep trying, alright?" his voice and tone soothed my worried mind a bit. "Don't stress yourself out. When the time is right, we'll have them. For now, let's enjoy every moment we have while we wait for their arrival."

"O-okay," I said hesitantly.

"Don't be pressured, mahal, because I'm not. Touya and Miyako will come." Kaname sounded so sure I had to believe him.
