Azula was practicing her bending. She needed to clear her head.
You work too hard, a familiar voice from the past chimed, you need to rest.
"shutup," she snapped at the air.
Azula, I worry about you, the voice chimed again.
"no you don't," the princess insisted. She could see the other girl's concerned expression in her mind. Begging Azula to take it easy. To not go overboard. Assuring her that she would always be there.
Lies, Azula thought. All lies.
The princess remembered that day at the boiling rock. The day it all went south
The day she betrayed me.
"I'll always be there, Azula!" she mocked aloud, "I'll never leave you, Azula! I love you, Azula! lies, lies, lies, lies, LIES!"
A bolt of lightning struck her target for each 'lie.' by the time the last bolt hit, there was no longer anything to aim at.
The tears were pouring freely now. Azula covered her eyes with her hands and sunk to the ground. She wrapped her arms around her knees and buried her face, sobbing uncontrollably.
It's alright, my princess. I'll always love you. The voice reminded her.
"no," the girl choked through her sobs, "you won't."
