"So how was work?" he asked before taking a sip of his wine. I looked up to him watching me closely and I smiled shrugging. "It was good, even better when I left" I joked making his laugh and he joined in.
"And no he didn't say anything to me after you left" I knew he didn't ask about it when we went to lunch because we had Gabby but, now we were alone.
"You know I just have to make sure you're okay. I haven't heard anything about him, so I wanted to check in" "He hasn't said anything to me since Gabby's birthday. All is well, let's just forget all about him" I smiled and he nodded agreeing. I wanted to forget all about him.
"But, thank you. Thank you for being you. Caring, funny, determined... nothing more, nothing less" I whispered watching him smilie at me. "I give what I get, so thank you for being you Ren. If there's someone that should be thanked, it is you" he stated in a more serious tone but I disagreed.
"That's why I can't help but cherish this time we have together. You're one of the most important people in my life and thought it might seem materialistic to you or whatever, I wanted to get you something" I looked at him confused as he got up getting something out of the other room coming back with a long black box.
I got up with my jaw on the ground already protesting. He simply ignored it walking over to me opening it. It was a bracelet with Gabby's birthstone and something engraved on it.
"Being a mother is not about what you gave up to have a child, but what you've gained from having one" I whispered feeling my eyes instantly tear up looking at him as he smiled as I looked back down at it hesitate.
"In between hugging you, wanting to wear this and telling you to take it back, it's too much" I whispered as the tears started to fall. He just kept giving and I loved it but, I don't know how to return it. I don't know how to make up for everything he's given me.
"It's customized just for you. Just allow yourself to be treated once and a while" he whispered as he took it out of the box. I sighed looking at it "It's beautiful" I whispered as he went behind me putting it around my neck and closing it together.
I looked down at it smiling hard as the tears continued falling. He turned me around "That's why it perfect for you" he whispered helping me wipe my tears as he cupped my head in his hands looking down at me.
We stared at each other for a few seconds knowing it was going to happen but who would make the first move.
He did.
He leaned down as I got on my toes meeting him halfway pressing my lips to his. With that one action, we were back to the old us. He pressed me against the closest wall hold me there as kissed me.
My hands went to his loose curls gripping them out of breath as his tongue slipped in. we couldn't be any closer than we were at this very moment and I was ready to remove the clothes but, he pulled away taking a few deep breaths before smirking at me.
"What?" I asked as he smiled watching "I got one more gift for you" "Har-" "Look its the last thing and I think you might be more willing for this gift" he whispered and I looked at him suspiciously. A gift that I would be willing to get?
"This is not for Lauryn the greatest mother and woman ever. This is for Renny, the rebel that was down for a good time" he smiled digging into his jacket pocket and threw me an item. I caught it looking down and my eyes went wide.
"Brownie? A pot brownie Harry?" I asked as he laughed nodding. "When's the last time you actually relaxed. Like really let yourself go?" he asked and that question was easy to answer.
